By now you should compile your wallet by your own from source code, but soon it will be available to download.

It was not premined!!! It was announced on cryptocointalk right after first block was mined (24/10/2013), so after first block there was at list 10 miners on network! Also GUI client is done, you just need to compile it by yourself.

yes. and you have been silently mining it
no one cares about this coin, name is stupid also.

look at your topic, it has no interest at all
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1443-betacoin-bet-information/

lol.

after few days of your premine nobody cares about your coins so you came there
to get some noobs mining, create pools, blockexplorers, exchanges

and then you will dump.

pathetic.

1. Coin and services is in development
2. I was not silent mining it alone! It also was announced on IRC channels etc. And again it was about 10 miners since the beginning of network, even without precompiled clients
3. Name is good.

I quess, yes, you are missing:)
 BETA means not only development stage:)
Also it is second letter, as you now, so in that way it is second coin after Bitcoin:)
Also BETA in transcription is beɪtə and sound like "BETTER" with some accent :)

etc etc etc.

anyway something is wrong with this coin
diff is 227 now (1.63 Ghs)

but block are coming every 10-30 seconds

diff is going down... and block time going down too

strange, error or what ?

Title: Re: [ANN][BET] Betacoin - SHA256 coin
Post by: betacoindev on October 30, 2013, 11:07:04 AM
ok, i am here. So why we can see difficulty going down now so fast? It is because of diff adjustment algo in Betacon and about premining blames.

Betacoin diff adjust algo works like that:

Phase 1 - untill 16000 block (when network is poor and not lots of people know about Betacoin)

Diff adjustment every 6 blocks based on last 1536 blocks, and with the minus 10% adjustment and plus 2% adjustment.

Phase 2 - after 16000 block (when network will became stronger)

Diff adjustment every 6 blocks based on last 48 blocks, and with the minus 2% adjustment and plus 1% adjustment.

So right after announce on cryptocointalk.com 24/10/2013 i was checking network status very often, and have seen at least 10 miners in first day, also i notised that those miners had about 60-100 GH of total speed (common situation when new SHA256 coin launched), so in 3 days diff became about 8000, and then i quess they leave the network. After that block time became terribly slow (~1 block in 1 hour), so network begin to adjust itself, and because Phase 1 difficulty adjustment is based on last 1536 block you can see now what you see - i mean huge difficulty drop, because based on 1536 blocks average block time still is about ~4 min.

This thing with difficulty drops on first 16000 blocks was made to give all initial miners a chance to mine coin, even with low speed and even not at the first day of coin launch.

Soon we will see difficulty go up with +2% every 6 blocks.

Hi there

There's a a few things you forgot to change when the source was cloned from Joulecoin.

1. Checkpoint data

Tx number should be 0 for the genesis block, you're still using the tx number from checkpoint 3 in Joulecoin.
Estimated tx/day is also wrong for betacoin, you're still using the value applicable to Joulecoin.

Quote from: checkpoints.cpp
static const CCheckpointData data = {
        &mapCheckpoints,
        1382532797, // * UNIX timestamp of last checkpoint block
        37150,      // * total number of transactions between genesis and last checkpoint
                    //   (the tx=... number in the SetBestChain debug.log lines)
        1920        // * estimated number of transactions per day after checkpoint
    };

2. You are using the same message start characters as Joulecoin, this means messages from the one network can be transmitted on the other. Not a train smash, but unfortunate.

Quote from: chainparams.cpp
       pchMessageStart[0] = 0xa5;
        pchMessageStart[1] = 0xc0;
        pchMessageStart[2] = 0x79;
        pchMessageStart[3] = 0x55;

Cheers
John

Hi, thank you for your notices. I changed tx to 0 and number of transactions to 0, yes i used joulecoin as a source for betacoin, and yes i forgot to change this. And i do not think that the same message start characters is an issue.

SHA256 based crypto currency
Oh look, another SHA256 copy&paste shitcoin by some ASIC miner who is mad their rig no longer shits bitcoins like somebody who has had one too many tacos at the local Mexican restaurant. I expect we'll be seeing more of these in the latest bitcoin bubble. ::)

No innovation, SHA256, PoW only?

yes it is POW only, since it is only way to make real decentralization. ALso there is innovation in 6 years main suply 32 mln and than 126K per year. and what is an innovation in the field of cryptocoins? Any way all coins are "copy&paste", and since network is working correctly, coin have value.

Then, I have to go through settings with cgminer.

Hi,
Are you trying to mine with your CPU, GPU or any ASIC connected to your laptop? If you are trying solo with CPU or GPU now, probably it is worth because now difficulty is too high, but in near days it will go down, also you can mine in pool when it will be available (soon).  What OS is on your laptop?

In short words to start you should:
1. Download the source code and compile the client if you are on Linux or MAC or download Windows installer and install it.
2. Try to start betacoin (no matter GUI client or command line client) - you probably will see message that you do not have betacoin.conf file.
3. Create betacoin.conf file in any .txt redactor with the following content (change myname and mypassword to any name and password):
Code:
rpcuser=myname
rpcpassword=mypassword
maxconnection=50
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.0.*
rpcport=32332
server=1
listen=1
addnode=66.172.10.57
addnode=76.74.177.244

Put just created betacoin.conf file in your
/home/%username/.betacoin dirrectory if you are on Linux, or in
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application data\Bitcoin if you are on Windows XP, or in
C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin  if you are on Vista and 7
Remember that this folders are hidden by default, so you should enable hidden files and directories view in your OS.
4. Start Betacoin again, you probably will have no connections, because it is your first run and your client do not know its first connection.
In GUI Client after first start go to the console and type
Code:
addnode 76.74.177.244 onetry
This command will connect your client to the first node and then will receive other network nodes.
You can jus start you Betacoin client with this option
Code:
-connect=76.74.177.244
In Ubuntu command line client it looks like
Code:
./betacoind -connect=76.74.177.244 &
5. Since the first connection your client will synchronize with the network, it will take about 1-2 min, after that you are ready to go with cgminer.
6. To start solo in cgminer you  should type the following command (betacoin client should be working in the same time):
Code:
cgminer -o http://127.0.0.1:32332 -u myname -p mypassword

I hope it will help, if you have any questions, will try to help.

Is it only windows?

The source code and Windows installer are available. It was not precompiled by developers for Linux because it is 1 command to do command line client or just opening betacoin-qt.pro file in qt-creator for GUI Client creation.
If you need help in compiling Betacoin for your OS, just ask.

I'm new to this ...
... Dev, can you do a guide? Please.
Hi,
Are you trying to mine with your ...
... I hope it will help, if you have any questions, will try to help.

This is so helpful. I appreciate it, Dev!
You're the best. The instructions were clearer now.
And it's working. Oh Gawd.. Finally!..

I'm using a Windows 7 laptop, and running it off the on-board GPU.
I've got a measly 10MH/s compared to the 1TH/s you've just announced.
So, It's just meh for the now. Hopefully, I can get an ASIC Miner soon.

Anyways, I've got some questions about the settings for cgminer.conf
This is how my settings are like now. *pokes around with settings*

Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "http://127.0.0.1:32332",
"user" : "myname",
"pass" : "mypassword"
}
]
,
"intensity" : "1",
"vectors" : "2",
"worksize" : "64",
"kernel" : "poclbm",
"lookup-gap" : "0",
"thread-concurrency" : "0",
"shaders" : "0",
"auto-fan" : true,
"gpu-engine" : "0-0",
"gpu-fan" : "0-85",
"gpu-memclock" : "0",
"gpu-memdiff" : "0",
"gpu-powertune" : "0",
"gpu-vddc" : "0.000",
"temp-cutoff" : "85",
"temp-overheat" : "75",
"temp-target" : "65",
"api-mcast-port" : "4028",
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"gpu-dyninterval" : "7",
"gpu-platform" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"hotplug" : "5",
"log" : "5",
"no-pool-disable" : true,
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "60",
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"
}

I'm getting a temperature reading of about 85°C ~ 100°C.
It's not good for a laptop. I'm scared it might die suddenly.
How do I change it so that won't happen?

Thanks again for helping me out.

PS. Btw, I love the logo.

the wallet i d/loaded has no block source available since nearly 2 weeks

That is because you did not connected to any node in network. What OS and client version you use (GUI or command line?)

If you are in GUI client go to console (under Help menu) and type there:
Code:
addnode 76.74.177.244 onetry

Also you can try to launch your client with -connect=76.74.177.244 attribute:
Code:
./betacoind -connect=76.74.177.244 &

If you got connections, but still do not have blockchain you can try to reindex it with -reindex attribute on start:
Code:
./betacoind -reindex &

Since the first connection to the only one node your client will get other node addresses and download the full blockchain.

Hope it was helpful.

I think 85C i really hot for laptop, and i think you should stop with it or cool it somehow. Laptops and their GPU can produce so much heat and it can be harmful without over-cooling. I suggest you not to mine any coins with your laptop hardware, only maby to use it with usb ASICS, but not with GPU or CPU.

Title: Re: [ANN][BET] BETACOIN - SHA256 COIN
Post by: betacoindev on November 07, 2013, 09:44:07 AM
Well, yes, it is in active development. Now we are working on Betacoin services, because the only way to give a value to coin is to give it a markets. And no - it is not casinos, dices, black markets, etc. We want to make betacoin clean, transparent and usable. So we are making some services like shops, web wallets, etc. I would not tell you the exact time when it will be done, i guess in one month, but definitely before New Year:)
Now Betacoin at the only beginning, we are on the last (maby penult) difficulty top before 16000 block (as it is described in Betacoin difficulty infographic - https://infogr.am/betacoin-difficulty/). After 16000 block network will move to "main stream" difficulty adjustment/calculating parameters.

We are - few people, who are developing betacoin and its services
Giveaway will be after 16 000 block when network will be on its "main stream" difficulty parameters and will be much more stable.

P.S. in next few hours we will slide on sleds from the difficulty peak

Just made it, but now diff is >80K, so blocks are really slow (read explanation why here https://infogr.am/betacoin-difficulty/) - this is for 4-5 next hours, after it will go down, so right now 6 confirmation may take more than 3-4 hours.

I was finding 20 to 30 Blocks a day with ASC, now you can probably work out my hashing power :-) - ASC diff was between 3K and 8K

Its good to collect many different Alts, you never know which one will be worth anything in 3 years time.

I do not know if blocks was really 30 sec on 5k difficulty. But with my counts on 25 blocks per 24 hours on 5k diff with 30 sec blocks you got something like Jalapeno (6-7GH) - is that right?

Code:
((Network diff*2**32)/Block time in sec)*.000000001)=Total Hashrate

so its another asic minable coin by a known dev who created a new account ?
i bet a million bucks i know who you are lol

and if you had just stated who you were in the first post i would consider mining etc
but since you went out of your way to hide in the shadows.. forget it.

being an anon dev for a new coin is one thing..
abusing anonymity for the purpose of spamming new coins on this forum is another.
and of course as usual it makes no difference what i say or if anyone agrees.. they keep coming
and the usual suspects won't leave lol

i hope you devs that do this realize your killing the scene and making it look horrendous to newcomers.
and mouth me off all you want but i bet you guys will be nowhere to be found when the scene crashes.

anyway i encourage people to think carefully about providing support (mining and trading etc)
you guys are the only ones that can do something about this.. flash mine in case it gets put on an exchange or take a stand and say NO ?
i hope guys out there are not blindly grabbing them all but comparing and choosing based on what they bring to the table..
Simply mining these new coins is like saying yes i approve and YES please make more coins asap.
Stop and they will stop.

Hm, i am nonplussed, really. I wish i could take your bet  ;D I do not understant what do you mean -  hide in the shadows - i am really new coin developer (and i can say new in cryptocoin market). I mean, yes i do knew about Bitcoin and this forum and sometimes i checked it, but i can say i am newbie at this forum now, and Betacoin is my first coin.
i like the concept of cryptocoins (no matter bitcoin or else) and its future economic. I guess i am not so informed about other devs and coins, i researched few of them before developing, pros and cons of different Algo  etc, Then some tests was made on local network, than Betacoin was launched with good intents. By developing coin i mean not only making itself, but also services, so soon (maby not so soooon) you will see services, and than i think you will change your mind about Betacoin, because as i know there is no simmilar services on other alter coins as now are developing for Betacoin.
As i am here, i see there is some kind of paranoic playing in the sandbox    take place here - i do not know who you think i am, but your thoughts are wrong  ;D

Hi, since the first start you should give to your wallet one node address to connect. After first connection it will get other nodes and sync with network.

To do that:

In GUI Client after first start go to the console and type:
Code:
addnode 76.74.177.244 onetry

If you use console client, start it with command:
Code:
./betacoind -connect=76.74.177.244 &

P.S. Also be sure that you have a valid betacoin.conf file.

my wallet says that there's no block source, hes not connecting. what should i do?

Hi, since the first start you should give to your wallet one node address to connect. After first connection it will get other nodes and sync with network.

To do that:

In GUI Client after first start go to the console and type:
Code:
addnode 76.74.177.244 onetry

If you use console client, start it with command:
Code:
./betacoind -connect=76.74.177.244 &

P.S. Also be sure that you have a valid betacoin.conf file.

thank you, now its synced. but one question bro, how can i be sure to have a valid betacoin.conf file? (where do i have to look?)

This might be the only active pool so far. The other one is idle, and always has 0 GH/s. But definitely there might be some people doing solo mining now.

I'm trying to start cg miner but it keeps saying unexpected command line arguments and then crashing
this is the commmand

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://bet.ispace.co.uk:3333 username.password Worker workername

am I missing something?

Try ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://bet.ispace.co.uk:3333 -u username.worker -p workerpassword

Guess solo mining without a 500ghs asic is out of the question already :(

Why not swap to a lower diff coin like PacCoin ( http://pac.ispace.co.uk ) or FireFlyCoin ( http://ffc.ispace.co.uk ) while the BetaCoin diff drops off and then swap back later?  ;)

There is a large choice of SHA256 alt coins to choose from at http://ispace.co.uk

Just a bit sad that i found it a little bit too late - after the difficulty went up alot (16000 blocks) - which means that im not really making much with 300khs. And wit hthe release announcement coming.. its going to go way up when asic farms jump on it.

I figured it out, for those still wondering:
1. Add the following line to you Betacoin wallet target: -datadir=Z:\#betacoin\BETCoinData (dont run the client yet!)
2. Make sure the targeted directory is created and put a sample betacoin.conf file inside this directory.
3. Run the Betacoin wallet via the shortcut.
4. Done

ASICs are not designed for sha256 , Asics are designed for a special job.
There is no way to design a coin that could never be mined by asics.

In theory, yes. In practice, no.

Lots of people who uses ASIC to mine Bitcoin. Lots of sha256-specific ASIC machines is now too weak to mine Bitcoin. Now miners switch them to mine SHA256 altcoin. They are monsters. They can make the diff being extremely high in a few day. GPU miners which are majority of the community dont like it.

The most important feature of an altcoin is its community

In theory, yes. But let's focus on practice. But let the community grow large enough before GPU miners leaves

I don't think that you have more 12 years.
I also thing that you have absolutely no idea about cryptos beyond buying a few , sending to cryptsy waiting for them to be so valuable you can buy a lambo with it.
I think you have no idea about the protocols , clients , or economics at all.

Yes, it can be mined with ASIC, that is why it WILL last long:)
The question about profitability of ASIC is discussable - if you compare profits in BTC vs USD than good luck with your predictions :)

As for GPU miners - GPU was NOT created for coin mining, in case of mining, GPU is a waste of useful resources that could be spent on useful things not related to currencies.
As for ASIC (i mean ASICs for cryptomining) - these devices was made to keep crypto currency networks secure and must be used for this.

As for me i do not like CPU coins because it can be easily used by botnets and other crime activity schemes by using not intended hardware resources of common PC/Internet users. And it is waste of time to make same things on SHA256 because ASICs are much powerful.

Any way thank you for your remarks and for kicking discussion forward.

This coin is pretty awesome... but I think there's a flaw in it.

The addresses seem to overlap with Bytecoin.  I accidently sent a mining payout to a bytecoin address instead of a betacoin address... and it worked.

http://www.coinsilo.com/tx/30c47cd97ca186104d05bcac4d8c902e26fd7e5ca38221d44516c631b6e85001#o0

There are 1,400+ betacoins currently stuck in the blockchain that will simply magically appear in some person's wallet some day.

I'm guessing my coins are lost, but you should probably fix that so it generates uniquely stamped addresses. :)

http://www.coinsilo.com/tx/30c47cd97ca186104d05bcac4d8c902e26fd7e5ca38221d44516c631b6e85001#o0

There are 1,400+ betacoins currently stuck in the blockchain that will simply magically appear in some person's wallet some day.

I'm guessing my coins are lost, but you should probably fix that so it generates uniquely stamped addresses. :)

Sounds improbable, no offense.
Can you please provide more detailed description of events that made you think so. Thank you.
My apologies, I triple checked what was going on and I made a mistake.

I should wait until morning to complain about things instead of in the middle of the night. :)

Would anyone know why this would happen.

It was a problem at all pools at once, so it was a little "stuck" of blockchain, now it should be ok.

There have been no confirmations for more than 4 hours. When did thing become unstuck?

When I check the send to address on http://www.coinsilo.com/address/BMhbrmpruJFxZi8RfzEJLiYAgm76mSKNk9
it says address not seen on network.
But the transactions show as unconfirmed balance. This would not be possible if the address was not seen on the network.

POOL OWNERS, PLEASE RESTORE >30 CONFIRMATIONS BACK.
Low confirmations (<30 ) causes lots of little transactions in 1 block by miners payouts and auto payouts.

previously it was 30999, before that 30992

30992 block - ~on that block all pools went down
30993 block - beta.dsync.net - restart pool blockchain unfreezing
30100 block - solved, 23 transactions in it http://coinsilo.com/block/00000000000013b3445fbec9a47a3998f728fbcc98e8075bb19109234b177663 with some big transaction consolidation of some early miners (from 10/30/2013 - ~4400 blocks)  http://coinsilo.com/tx/48cc3c4ecb452736313d928c45c231c253b074092331c38d3544443aa0819106

we have something now, 1 confirmation
Seems like network a bit stucked now because of lots of little transactions in single blocks on high difficulty with some of pools down.
It will take some time (1-4 hours) for network to stabilize itself.

** Announce **

sorry for the down time i have had on my pool Dsync. i am work very hard to keep the site stabilized. Mining ports are maintained and kept up most time. while i will be taking down my website from time to time to narrow down the attacker. Note: i had to move the pool to it's own VPS to narrow down attackers(and not to take down my other polls) and have so far dropped about 50+ IP's (mostly china) but if i have dropped your IP and you cannot connect Please contact me @ freenode IRC channel #dsync-pool. again i apologize for the down times. it was not intended.

I'm at 60gh/s. That said, let me ask a very blunt question. Is there any Betacoin pool that doesn't suck?

Dsync: Can't connect to the dsync pool. Can't connect to the website to confirm my worker name is right. Haven't been able to connect to the website for over a week. If I keep hitting refresh, every once in a while, it connects long enough to see the frames get drawn, but the page won't update. Fed up wasting my time on this one.

iSpace: Decent hash rate so there "should" be a decent payout. Pool seems to be working, but can rarely can connect to the website. I did manage to connect for all of 30 seconds after mining on it awhile, and saw no transactions. After over an hour of mining, there should have been at least a fraction of a coin unconfirmed. Then again, I've had poor results with iSpace's DEM pool too.

P2Pool: All I get are pool changed difficulty, pool requested work restart messages non stop. Maybe get one accepted block after about 30 pairs of changed difficulty/work reset messages.

l2r: Too small, not hitting enough blocks to make it worth bothering.

Coinsilo: They are kinda small and they aren't hitting as many blocks as iSpace or Xpool. Seem to work. Seems like there is a payout, got 5 coins after a few hours, still unconfirmed.

wdc.port: same problem as l2r, too small, doesn't hit enough blocks to make it worth bothering.

xpool: Seems to be the only pool worth using, having a high hash and a high block hit rate, but they are invite only.

After over a week of trying to get into Betacoin, I'm fed up, ready to give up and should just stick with eMark.

Yeah, the interface is nice, but let's be honest, it's the exact same interface 95% of the pools use.  ;)

My only problem with coinsilo aside from the lack of block hits is it takes them forever to confirm earnings.

Another odd thing I've noticed with all the Betacoin pools is none of them show the true Net Hash rate, they all show the net hash as being the same as their pool hash. What's up with that?

I think that is a temporal problem, partially solved. The reason is an extreme interest of miners & frequent attacks on pools, that pool owners repel professionally. As i know, almost all described above pools migrated to updated hardware several times in this month.
Happy Holidays!

Stable and fast payouts. Not a problem for me!!!

Even the pools you say that suck are much better than every pool that mines bitcoins.

Betacoin is an improvement of the Bitcoin not an alternative one...
You should remember this when it will hit the 100$ price  :)

I mined on them for a little over an hour and had 12 coins unconfirmed. It took 7 hours before the first 6.5 coins were confirmed, then another 6 hours before the last 5.5 coins were confirmed. 13 hours in total to confirm 12 coins. I do not consider that fast.  :-\

By default in Betacoin (and in Bitcoin too) it takes 120 confirmations before mined block will be confirmed and miner receive BET.
That means that if you just mined a block, it will take 120*4min=8 hours on average to get mined coins.
NB! that is not a transaction confirmations, that is mined block confirmations.
As for pool owners, they usually make lower confirmations limit for mined blocks to speed up payouts, for example - bet.coinsilo.com have 60 confirmations on mined blocks:

Lowered confirmations, posted Dec 20, 2013 at 05:48 by incrediblehulk
I have lowered the confirmations to 60 to see how it goes.
UPDATE: I have reverted back to 120 confirmations

I hope so because I am not spending my mined coins I am not going to make the same mistakes as the early BTC miner by trading them or losing them or selling them to only realize how much money was lost because of my lack of foresight. That being said what is up with the difficulty it seems to go from 500k to 700k difficulty every day is that unstable? I assume it's giving people a chance to mine. Will it go up higher and stay higher at some point?

I like Dsync they are down right now probably another attack by some loser who has no life and can't earn nothing and has to steal it from people who do work hard and earn it. I think this coin has a lot of potential because there is a low amount of coins like BTC. That being said can Dev answer two questions for me will difficulty go higher and what is the current amount of BET that has been mined.

Please consider using http://bet.ispace.co.uk as a failover to your preferred pool. It's always good to have a backup so your miners don't sit idle if a pool fails.

That's the thing only it's site goes down not the coins I have mined when it went down last time it was down for a whole day left my miners on for a few hours of this shutdown then turned them off in case someone was redirecting my hashing power from that site to their own. When the site came back up it showed the coins I had earned when I had my miners on.

Hello everyone,

I would like to invite you all to come join and discuss Betacoin on a new dedicated forum at http://betacointalk.com. I believe Betacoin has a potential to be a lot more valuable than where it is now. This coin needs proper support from miners as well as the developers community alike.

The network is getting stronger and stronger by day!!!!!
It has reached over 10Thash/sec!

These days the currency is passing a value crisis due to many people exchanging
the BETs for BTC. Although they will soon realize that this is not a smart move.
You should only been buying right now!!!!

The Betacoin era has begun

Betacoin difficulty adjustment algo is set up to have difficulty recalculation every 6 blocks. That is for keeping average block time on 4 min, and network adjustment is fast. As for jumping up and down - here are my thoughts:

70-80% of Betacoin miners are long permanent miners, and see long term future of Betacoin - they keep network stable above 400K difficulty, and every day the number of that long-term miners increasing.
Another 20-30% of miners just do not care about any cryptocoins, they usually switching their hardware on different coins according to coinwarz, marketcap & buy orders on exchanges with only purpose - to have fast profits from above average profitable mining & selling their fast mined coin.

P.S. You can look on other cryptocoins with not fast difficulty adjustment algo, explore their blockchains for the last couple of weeks and see that sometimes on that networks block time is >200% above normal time, and blockchains on that networks often stuck.

I can't believe people are trading these coins for BTC this has a potential to be worth quite a bit of money and people are selling huge lots of them for a little BTC. I am keeping mine until they go up. I stopped mining BTC because it's just not worth it for 3 dollars a day. Would rather get 70 BET a day. Then when they do go up the people who traded all of them for BTC are going to be punching themselves in the gut.

Because it will my friend :)

Although they don't realize that bitcoin won't stay at that value for ever.

Buy Betacoins now where you can buy cheap because the average joes sell and enjoy later  ;)

Just don't pump and dump like everyone else. Devalues the coin and they are going to regret it if this even goes up to $5.00 a coin they traded thousands for a few BTC when they could have waited and made thousands of green backs.

Well when Bitcoin came out it was worth a penny.Lol so I think in the few months Betacoin has been out it has done quite well. If people would ask more for it on the exchanges I am sure that it would increase in volume, wait tell after a year when coins are halved to 50 we should start seeing some serious growth then.

scrypts are released with a rate 5 new scrypts cryptocurrencies/day. It's totally useless to support this kind of movements.

As the previous friends said you can stay mining crap and scam coins. It's a free market.

But when Betacoin will rule them all you can cry as much as you can and regret you didn't mine or buy
when YOU should be.

Betacoin is not just an SHA256, as i foresee it's here to change the scene. I have switched all my miners
to this crypto and will stick to this until the end of the universe because it's better than Bitcoin in many aspects.

I do not know why i answer that:)

About SHA256:
1.SHA256 - is the only way not to waste useful resources like CPU, GPU and Memory, but keep cryptonetwork going. At the same time,
2.SHA256 is absolutely hardware compatible
3.SHA256 is not a dinosaur (any way i like them  ;D) - it is old school:)

About Scrypt:
Is it good for you to waste you cpu, ram, or gpu power? You can use it for useful things :)

About Betacoin:
Show me the cryptocoin with fast enough blocks (read transactions) (but not so fast to have insecure network), transaction comments, absolutely decentralized (POW), SHA256 (absolutely hardware compatible), with absolutely no premine and with really fair launch phase (~1 month or 16000 blocks)  (https://infogr.am/betacoin-difficulty?src=web), with super strong community and amazing services on the way, with lots of pools and exchanges, etc, etc -> Betacoin is the ONLY that corresponds all above.

Good luck to you

Yea but their setup is friggen confusing now I had an account with now I need a new account and they want my password which works fine on the original site but it won't work for linking gtfo here I was able to log in on old site but can't link my account now I am blocked out. Friggen dsync doesn't even recognize my erupter blade even though the blade says it's hashing just fine at the same location same information as my usb block erupters really freaking frustrating think I am just going to solo mine.

I believe in this coin! :)
There is not any reason why this coin should not be worth significantly more if there was more miners on it this coin would sky rocket like it did last week when it went up to difficulty over 1 million. That was just a taste of it's possibilities give it a few more months and those who are not mining this coin will start to regret it.

Take that back...iSpace does not seem to be working from my perspective. Once I link my miner I cant access the server sites...ispace or dsync...any ideas what's up?

Whose best to mine with or better to go solo?

Hi, Betacoiners!

First of all, I want to apologize for the 1 month of silence from dev team. There were some reasons.
While development process of betacoin ecomerce modules, applications and researching of the blockchain going strong, there was some kind of “research of decentralisation with negative factors”. I will explain. Since the goal of launching Betacoin network was full decentralisation from the very begining, there was a huge interest -  how community will react on developer silence for the 1 month period? Actually that is a reduplication of Bitcoin developer silence.
And the conclusion is simple – developers silence causes price fluctuation and drops, but not huge difficulty drops.
At the same time the moment for silence was selected when the whole cryptocurrency scene had not the best of times to enhance the effect of silence. In this case, no news situation was the news, and that is wrong. Because Betacoin should be decentrilised not only by its technical structure, but in “minds of its users”.  Because Betacoin network itself can`t be affected by developers, only users with their hashpower “voting” can affect the network.
It should be noted, that dev team never trying to affect the price and never play on the market, first of all we can`t, because we do not have enough Betacoin ammount to do so (see Betacoin “start phase” before 16000 block), another thing we are absolutely not about market games, etc, but only tech enthusiasts and researchers.
“The other side of the coin” :) for last month were developers conversations and consultations with some of other future crypto-exchanges developers and projects for cryptocurrencies development teams about Betacoin participation. It is still early to share the news about that, but there are number of reasons for optimism about future Betacoin life.
So,
Developers – keep developing
Miners – keep mining
Users – keep using
Thanks for all, keep on going.

Hello,

To be clear with the community and avoid misunderstanding.
Developers are working on:

Coin dev:
-code rebase with the latest Bitcoin 0.9 version with features and fixes
-GUI  client upgrade
-BetacoinJ
-Android wallet application
-Java wallet clients on Desktop for all platforms with new Betacoin only GUI

(Last 3 in list shows more of Java in Betacoin future)

Services development:
-market applications (modules, pre installed platforms, etc)
-blockchain explorer features and social integration
-information websites, infographic and wiki

So, we are not active in communicating now, i can`t tell the exact time when all of above will be available, please be patient.  much appreciate all miners that keep Betacoin going and other supporters.

Thank you

P.S.
While BetacoinJ (with android wallet) and rebase on hard work, there are few new Betacoin mentions in major press:

Found some mentions of Betacoin in ETF Guide video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE-A0L0TMkE

Betacoin seems to be a nice coin with fair blockchain start, as i see. I would say, if developers will do code rebase and Java wallet clients, and all other things they are talking about, it will be the best SHA-256 altcoin.

And if this continue , the coin will really die.

Except the last 19 hours behind.
However i have 7 connections to the network.
But the last hours of blocks don't come in.
What can be the reason?

I think that may be connections to the network. Have you tried restarting the client? I'm probably not the best person to ask, I did used to mine this coin but  haven't mined for a year now. Hopefully getting this thread woken up someone might answer tho

191476 BLOCKS downloaded.
It has stopped at that moment.
Now 22 hours behind.
I have 4 connections to the network.

You are on the current block since none have been found for the last 24 hours.

If you do a 'getpeerinfo' from the console you will see your peers and the block they are on which is 191476.

Code:

[
{
"addr" : "199.68.197.33:32333",

It's indeed block 191476.
What does that mean?
Maybe that i have to wait for the next block?
I did yesterday a transaction, but not confirmed until now?

Ah if you're on the last block I believe what that means is you'll need to wait until the next block is solved. If a coin doesn't have a lot of miners everything slows down until eventually you can't sync and nothing happens. The more blocks being solved the better.

I'm sure there's a better way to explain that but I reckon that's your problem.

How much mining power are you pointing at it?

I don't mine betacoin at this moment.
I wanted to send some coins yesterday to an exchange, but the transaction stay unconfirmed. I'm about 34 hours behind now, thougt i have 7 connections to the network.
But that could indeed be the reason as you explained in the post above.
Thanks for the explanation.

You are not behind. You are in sync. The wallet just shows that message when the last block has been download over 6~8 hours. It will say out of sync even through you are on the current block and 'in sync'.

About once a day (or every other day) the iSpace multi pool mines Betacoin so if you send those coins they will get there once iSpace starts mining Betacoin again.

Thanks for the explanation.
Now i understand why the transaction is not confirmed until now.
I never had this before with most of the other coins.

It's a strange wallet of betacoin.
Yesterday i was at a moment complete synchronized and had 2 of 6 confirms for the transaction i wanted to do.
But it stopped with these 2 confirms.
Now again 25 hours behind, 6 connections with the network.
And maybe in a few hours or tommorrow, again up to date with again 2 confirms?
Is this normal. At that speed i have to wait a whole week almost to get a transaction corfirmed.

It is like i thought.
A new upload a few hours ago. Now i have 2 more confirms. That means 4 of the 6 confirms for my transaction.
I think i will still have to wait 2 days before my transaction is confirmed completely.
Now i am 5 hours behind,and 6 connections to the network.

Still not confirmed. 18 hours behind at this moment.
I think it's not gonna be for today anymore.
It's long waiting before my transaction is complete confirmed.
I wanted to exchange them for another coin, but the prices buy/sell have already changed a bit in 4 or 5 days.
Hope for tomorrow.

over the counter

if it gets enough support to fund addnode / be
then can buy an exchange listing

this is a classic
so keep the chain alive
no need for a stinky markey market

 You can now mine Betacoin at  autoexchange mining pool Zergpool.com (http://Zergpool.com) at 0.5% fee. Please use following commands for different mining options

 Option 1 Auto coin switch by profitability within algorithm with payment to wallet
Code:
 -o stratum+tcp://sha256.mine.zergpool.com:3333 -u <YOURBTCWALLET> -p c=BTC

 Option 2 Direct coin mining to coin wallet
Code:
 -o stratum+tcp://sha256.mine.zergpool.com:3333 -u <YOURBETWALLET> -p c=BET,mc=BET

 Option 3 Direct coin mining with autoexchange to specified coin wallet
Code:
 -o stratum+tcp://sha256.mine.zergpool.com:3333 -u <YOURBTCWALLET> -p c=BTC,mc=BET

 Please note mc stands for mining coin symbol, c stand for payout coin symbol

 Autoexchange to BTC, LTC, DASH or any other currency we mine
 Happy mining,
  cheers pinpin

sed -i 's/<const\ CScriptID\&/<CScriptID/' rpcrawtransaction.cpp

Hi Dev/Community,

Greetings from Nova exchange!

We have identified that BET chain isn't moving consistently and currently stopped on 2019-06-12. Is there something which is under planning for the coin in order to improve the performance? Please contact us/support if their is anything we can help you with - support@novaexchange.com

If the status of movement remains same, exchange may proceed for delisting.

Cheers!!

Greeting people of Bitcoin and cryptos.
Its 10 years passed and yet this coin is still alive. I am the one who launched it with name betcoindev, as a play and experiment and I am the one who abandoned it as a continue of this experiment. Why? Because of multiple reasons: personal, my own beliefs, proof of non need of me here, proof that proof of work and original satoshi vision is decentralized enough to not rely on any single person or entity. And honestly I am amazed. I was able to build binary and sync with one of nodes provided in this topic yesterday. I have no idea where is my old Betacoin wallet but I think I will be able to recover it from one of old disks, stopped mining it at around 2014, but I see some continued and I see it had some good and bad days during its 10y+ life.

I am here to ask - should we continue the show and make it really "better" form of money/cash? Because I see few very strong points here for successful rise of our bet phoenix.

1. Betacoin is based on original Bitcoin code and with original satoshi vision. (ETF is crap, corporations involved in BTC is crap, centralization of mining is crap, they hijacked Bitcoin)
2. Betacoin is one of oldest coins PoW coins around with 10y+ of history.
3. Betacoin has people who been mining it just because of original idea and beliefs, it is decentralized by ordinary miners and whole emission is yours.
4. Betacoin is truly decentralized because of Proof of Work, it has no premine and mined by enthusiastic people since start.
5. Betacoin has many media and social/crypto anchors and even was called as one of Bitcoin competitors by nasdaq article.

I actually see many strong points and ability to become something big in terms of adoption. Its main supply should be over now and we have original tale emission of 0.39% annual that make it very favorable form of crypto money and not completely deflationary, from monetary perspective that is actually very good for substance called "money". Betacoin is older than Ethereum, it is even older than DOGEcoin which I love and that also have tale emission but slightly higher.

What do you think? Should we revive it? I am up, but only with community support and will and I will need to grab some Betcoins OTC from those who mined it all those years, because I want to have stake of it and willing to pay some sane money for it.
Cheers and Happy New Year!

P.S. If you are up, lets make some planning
