SegWit is fully supported as of version 1.8.4.

SegWit is an optional upgrade, but allows cheaper and faster transactions, by implementing the most recent advancements on the Bitcoin network. To upgrade your current accounts to Segwit, open your wallets and swipe one screen to the left to the "receive" tab. There, tap the "upgrade" button.

The best part is that it supports ALL segwit addresses at once so you can choose the type you want to use:
Default is Bech32

Then there's P2PWKH wrapped in P2SH for compatibility

Coinomi is nowadays closed source, so i do not think that this will really benefit many of people. I like seeing segwit getting more supported over the time, because we have a serious issue with scalability. Bech32 is not supported by that many places however.

Also, the images look horrible and should not be that big at all.
You can adjust the image size in the following way:

It's a start though. I believe they have over 100,000 active users. I just hope there will be a point where the legacy addresses are disabled and only SegWit is left.

I didn't think we'd reach this point so quickly, believing Segwit to phase out legacy in a matter of years. But if even wallets like Coinomi taking it on fully, and they're about to be joined by almost all the major exchanges, it's quite possible we'll see full Segwit users before 2020. Native Segwit might still be delayed a little, ironic that the network and fees have never been freer and cheaper... making people put off what they felt they surely had to do when mempool was at its peaks.

I'm even seeing some older alt projects quietly upgrade to Segwit or planning to. It always takes Bitcoin to show the way, doesn't it?

They only focus on supporting more altcoins than increasing their wallet protection.
Now I think they are starting to support (P2PWKH-P2SH and Native Segwit/Bech32) for marketing rather than technical purposes.(because topics like "#Coinomi now officially supports #UASF #SegWit for all activated #blockchains (https://twitter.com/coinomiwallet/status/852130791362637825?lang=en) & SegWit is an optional upgrade, but allows cheaper and faster transactions.[2] (https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000009746-does-coinomi-support-segwit-)" is a hot topics).

Well, i am fine with them supporting segwit because of their own incentives.
It is a win-win situation. They get good marketing, whatever.. and the whole community gains wider segwit adoption.

One can't simply expect everyone to support segwit because of an overall improvement of the whole network.
People often need an incentive for themselves. They need to have benefits from it. As long as no party loses (in any way) i think thats fine.

I think this is a good development from their part as the tentacles of SegWit continues to spread further. I tried claiming a fork on Coinonmi at one time from a SegWit address and its was saying an invalid private key. I hope this has been resolved based on this upgrade.

It really does not matter if they did for commercial purpose or not? It shows they are moving with the trend and even the mass number of people that would be using it don't even understand the technicals behind it. Just how its going to reduce fees and with this coming from Coinomi its surely going to reach huge user base.

What fork are you referring to? I think the coinomi segwit it still in beta.

Better to check your old bitcoin address and maybe your fork coins is there and verify when your segwit address created is it before fork or after?

Because if you created your segwit after the fork there are no fork coins in your segwit address.

Anyway, I never heard that someone could successfully claim their fork coins from a bitcoin segwit addresses unless if fork coins are also segwit support.

Loads of forks aren't claimable from Segwit addresses. I specifically parked coins on a legacy address because of this. I doubt there's much Coinomi can do about it.
