Peercoin Weekly Newsletter - Issue 1
October 30th

Introduction

Welcome to the official Peercoin newsletter! There are so many fantastic projects happening in the Peercoin community, we wanted to take a minute to highlight a few of the major items that our dedicated volunteers are bringing to life.

International Bitcoin Conference - Amsterdam - November 8th

** Event was cancelled **

Trekcon

It's confirmed, Peercoin will be the official crypto currency for Springfield Trekcon! We plan to release a teaser video on Friday with the event organizer and then a press release and accompanying video later the following week.  Not only will participants be able to purchase tickets to the event with Peercoin, we will also have Peercoin literature and giveaways for everyone that walks through the door. There's quite a few Star Trek celebrities already confirmed, can't wait to introduce Peercoin to a convention full of trekkies.

PeercoinMyths.com

Let's face it, there's so much misinformation that's spread between competing coin investors. The Peercoin community decided to launch a site to address some of those myths:

http://peercoinmyths.com/

This will be an ongoing project, we certainly welcome your feedback. Feel free to leave us a comment here:

250 Peercoin Giveaway

The community has already raised 250 Peercoins (~$100) to give away to members of our community. Feel free to join us on peercointalk.org and offer your input into the contest.  We'll announce the final details of the giveaway in issue #2 of the newsletter.

Volunpeers

Whether you are a developer, artist, writer, web designer or just someone that loves to spread the word, we would like to hear from you. New Series "The Future of Peercoin - Sunny King"

Last week, the community put together a series of questions for Sunny King concerning Peercoin. We're launching a thread starting tomorrow to discuss some of his answers with the crypto community. It's important to not only hear from those that support Peercoin but also listen to our critics. Every so often, we'll release another series of question/answers from Sunny to discuss.

Hey!

Nice overview. I'm glad that things are starting to go forward with Peercoin now that it becomes more and more clear that securing the network with energy consuming wasting demanding PoW might be not the last step in crypto coin evolution!

 Hello,

How big a thing is the Trekcon news? Is it just some minor convention, or a relatively big one? And when is it?

Thanks.

Thanks.

They are renting out the convention center in May 14 which is fairly large. It's big news for us, we're sitting down with one of the organizers tomorrow evening to do a video interview. We're not talking about just a few hundred.

Also, the inaugural batch of 50 physical Peercoins made of 1 Troy ounce of fine silver will be available for purchase in mid to late November. Very excited to bring this line to fruition.

Recent Dev developments with PPcoin and Litecoin show the value of alt coins for the cryptocoin community as a whole. People joining forces are unstoppable.

I couldn't agree more. Regardless of the coin, having the major alts represented at the upcoming Bitcoin Conferences is great for the entire community. I know there's quite a few Peercoin forum members that are looking forward to viewing the Litecoin and Feathercoin presentations.  We might all compete internally, however, any of us that break out to the general public helps everyone.

This is good read. Would it be possible to have thread for only the newsletter updates either here or in peercointalk? It would be helpful to use forums watchlist function to keep up with the latest newsletters similar to Sunny King's weekly updates.

I guess website (maybe in peercoin wiki) with links to each newsletter thread suits as well, if you rather keep newsletters in separate threads to encourage discussion.

Nice summary, I also would appreciate a thread a separate thread for the Newsletter, so I can put it on my watchlist.

Keep up the great work!

International Bitcoin Conference - Amsterdam - November 8th

** Event was cancelled **

May be worth clarifying that it wasn't Peercoin's fault why the event was cancelled (unless it was).

Because I came here and read: 1) Intro, - we're doing awesome things 2) cancelled event...

I laughed pretty hard, but I'm not sure others would keep reading like I did.

Good luck and the rest of the newsletter sounds awesome.  I need to come back when I have more time to look into all of these links (and further links within these links).

As for peercointalk.org, I don't believe there are signatures when I signed up a few days/ maybe a week ago, so that will keep my activity over here, where I can try to monetize my efforts.

However, keep up the awesome.  I wish you the best!  and I may even join your efforts at some point.

Will Peercoin be doing anything similar to bitcoinfriday2013.com?  I'm promoting this pretty heavily (if anyone is interested in having a local Bitcoin Friday party, reach out to me.  I may be able to get you a care package with some free giveaways.

Unfortunately we had no control over the cancellation, we were simply invited to the event.  Thank you everyone for the kind words about the progress the Peercoin community continues to make. We have a lot of dedicated people that volunteer time to help others on the forum.
