Welcome Brad, I'm new too, just signed up.

I've been buying / selling bitcoin for a while now though, also dabbled in some litecoin and feathercoin.

What's up with those alt currencies anyway, do they have potential?

Alt coins probably not worth the time. You can find exchange rates BTC to some alt coins, not worth much.

No, they are all just bitcoin with slight tweaks to their code.  The only people who say them use them or like them actually just trade them for bitcoins. You'll save yourself time and money just buying bitcoin and cutting out the middle man.

Hello guys!
You said above it is to late to mine BTC without powerful hardware(ASIC). But if I mine scrypt coins as LTC or FTC and than sell them for BTC I will gain much more profit vs mining BTC with same hardware?
Is this the right way to colect some BTC? Which coin is most profitable to mine now?

Welcome to the community, Brad. Unless you have a lot of capital behind you, and are in for big speculative risks, buying bitcoins (and timing your buys right, if you think you can) is probably better than trying to start mining at this point.

Definitely agreed. Mining is an option for you only if you have shitload of money for ASIC devices.

Hi

I am fairly new to the world of BTC too... Mining is pointless. I would suggest some ALT coins. Maybe build yourself a portfolio of several different coins. I am sure some of the ALT coins will develop in the future.  There is room for more than just BTC.

Can hardly ROI for miners nowadays. Its better to just invest in BTC :)

Hello everybody,

I am Mypink. As you can guess I am new to Bitcoin.
I heard of it few years ago but didn't pay much attention to it, it made me smile, that's all.
Yesterday they spoke about it on euronews and it piqued my curiosity again, mostly because some Norwegian guy was able to buy a flat after "trading" with bitcoin.
So I am looking if I can take advantage of BTC movement even though I know nothing for the moment and I think it might be too late for that (we will see). Yes I am greedy ^^ so if you have any advice I am interested  ;D
