Title: What is the forum members count if there are no alts?
Post by: De4ted on March 29, 2018, 06:59:08 AM
1,568,478 members registered as of March 29, 2018, 06:34:52 AM, I think this counts still include those inactive accounts.

I wonder how many alts do we need to report and tagged get tagged, some of the reports I see some of the members here holds hundreds of accounts so if we divide that numbers to 100 is 15684.78 Wow that is too small count of members but we all know that not everyone can manage 100 accounts.

So I want to minimize the count of alts many of them has 20-30 accounts each, we all know that every cheater will do their best to maximize what they can get.

Lets say there are 1% inactive accounts here and 5% of tagged accounts that is inactive.
So this is equal to 6% less to the total numbers of members registered.
     1,568,478 - 6% = 1,474,369.32

Lets say that each of accounts has 5 alts, this is too small for sure.
     1,474,369.32 / 5 = 294,873.864

So..., there are only 294,873.864 estimated users here in the community, this is crazy...

Lets try to divide it to 10 for sure the total of this is the most possible user count and nearest to the reality.
     1,474,369.32 / 10 = 147,436.932

All in all we are only 147,437 users here in forum not even 10% of the total members registered. :o

I wonder how much those farmer already gets here in the forum and yet they are still crying after getting tagged.

We really need to catch those farmer accounts and they must be punished immediately to stop the cheating on bounty campaigns.

BE A GOOD PART OF THE COMMUNITY! CATCH THOSE CHEATERS! AND GIVE THEIR REDS!

EDIT
NOTE: This is only a possible estimation.

About tree fiddy.

There's no way to know, but you've just pulled some random figures out of the air.

Yes I know sir, but looking on those reports on List of merit abusers we can clearly see there that this is possible.
I just come to think of this everyone here surely has at least 1 alt accounts even those high rank members I see that there are some high ranked users here claiming that they have alts.

How is it possible to manage even 30 accounts?
I mean it'll take a day just logging in/out, not talking about generating content for all those alts.
That system will exsist until rules allow to have more than 1 account

Not all alts are cheaters. Many of the staff and admins use alts for legitimate board management functions.

You don't have to log in and out to use alts. I have both of my accounts open at the moment - you can check by looking at the online status.

I agree that the use of alts to cheat or scam should be banned, and the accounts deleted.

Only 1% of inactive accounts seems way too small. The 20-30 alt accounts seems way too high, sure some people might have 50 accounts but the average can't be much higher than 10. There should be a way to check for inactive accounts but I'm not an expert.

I think this is a serious overestimation of active accounts. According to Vod's site http://dev.martinlawrence.ca/bpip/
there are 919,172 active accounts. That is based on registered accounts, minus accounts with no sign on for 90 days, no posts and no trust.
I think that overestimates it still as all the spambot Newbies and other accounts that were banned in the last 90 days must be in there still.

The amount of alts for every user (intending to use them for farming or signature campaigns) vary from 5 to 30+ in my opinion. Some users carry way more accounts than we can imagine, but not everyone. So no matter how much we try, our estimations assuming the alts of everyone would still be way far from the actual numbers of users unless we get to count the IP addresses of registered users till date. I know people say that anyone can change their IP address when registering a new account, but I don't think they really care to do that as long as it is not prohibited to have more than one accounts from the same IP if one of them made from that IP is permanently banned.

There's always a way to know how to but it's like counting your hairs in your head, it's possible but merely impossible because while you are counting there are new hairs growing.

If someone can know the real external IP addresses then identify the uniqueness of an IP addresses of each account here, take the fact that there is VPN.

Staff will be able to check the count of  the distinct IP address registered in forum. That count will be the count of the distinct members.
Can somebody give me an example where someone has 100 alts or even 30 alts?

PS: I do not have alt.

I think only the 2 admins have access to that data and it won't really be that accurate anyway as people use Tor and VPNs to remain anonymous.

No, but I can tell you where to start looking. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2544574.0
