Title: How to get Merit points
Post by: inyakizuryel on March 29, 2018, 03:10:55 PM
I am really wandering, how to get Merit points, I think even though my posts are very on point and constructive and worth the merit points, I am not getting merit. What should I do?

P.S. Are there really good guys that are giving away merit points when they see that the posts are on point and well constructed?

Your posts, from what I have seen, are mainly in the altcoin section.

Most merit sources and people with sMerit remain around the bitcoin parts of this forum (as we are a Bitcoin forum). Try posting in the Bitcoin sections and you might get merits for your posts. There's no certaincy about gaining merit it's a bit random as it's based on how people feel. I, personally, for example have only awarded merit when I think that someone has a great idea that sticks out or when they've helped me here with something.

EDIT: notice how most of your already earnt merits have come from the Bitcoin sections of this forum already.

Oh i see, thank you for your tip I think someone are not giving their merits away even though you really research well just to get the right answer for his or her question and that is the difficult part. I know theymos really put such time and effort in order to fulfill this merit system and it really helps other people also me to be more constructive and make more sense in posting, hopefully I could get some in the near future.

Seriously? You are already a Full Member and you should've already knew how Merits System works :) You can get Merits from other members of the forum. It is given to a deserving post. That is how you can to get Merits.
And also, posting a thread about Merit is now prohibited because it has been posted/created so many times. A topic like this has been already posted a lot of time here in the Forum and posting more threads repeatedly will be considered as a spam. Please be aware of that.
If you really want to seek for answers to your questions. I recommend you to use the search function of the thread. I'm sure that you will find something helpful.

And about this
P.S. Are there really good guys that are giving away merit points when they see that the posts are on point and well constructed?
Yes, there are some threads in Archival and Economy>>Services that gives away Merits for constructive posts. If you are confident and you think that your post deserves Merit, then go and try your luck.

Stop posting on spam megathreads, and you might get a few merit points. No one reads the threads with hundreds of replies to a simple question, and those seem to be the threads that you love to spam in. Also, try improving your English so that your posts make a bit more sense.

Aidrop all scam or nothing #193

Please let me know
I have a lot of follow the airdrop through instagram and other social media, but not from bitcointalk. Of all I follow is only about 8% who managed to enter the market. maybe it's all just wasting my time. Any suggestions from you guys, how to know the airdrop that actually enter the market or not at all  ;) :D ;D
I think there are many of the airdrops nowadays that are really scam and I have proven that lately because not all airdrops have their value on the market and that is the saddest part, you read well the whitepaper and by the time you decided to apply for the airdrop then it will not have any value on the market and no one really knows whether it will have or not.

Do you like Air Drop? #166

Why do you like Airdrop?
what is the most fastest way to earn tokens?
Which airdrop have participate?
Is there any good airdrop coming up?
Do you recommend to participate in Airdrop?
Yes it is good but the disadvantage is when you compared it to joining bounties is that you will earn a little amount of tokens and I think that that is one of the great advantage of joining bounties because you will earn a lot more compared to airdrops but it will take time before you get your bounty and I think that is one of the disadvantages of joining bounties compared to airdrops. But if you ask me what should I pick on those two, I will pick the bounties because it is for long term holding and investment.

Do you like Bounty? #483

Do you like Bounty?
Which Bounty camping you like the most?
what is the most easiest platform to do  Bounty camping ?
Is there any other way to earn free tokens?
Yes of course in my opinion I really like joining bounty campaigns because from there you will earn coins for a long term and you can hold it for a very long time and I think joining in bounty campaigns in worth the time and effort because you know to yourself that you will be rewarded for what you exerted on the company. But be careful of those bounty managers that keep on scamming because you will regret every sweat, blood and tears you put in.

Cryptocurrency death #169

Billionaire and Microsoft co-founder bill gates fell to sharp criticism for cryptocurrencies: they are used to buy drugs and launder money, according to gates.
I think all of us have different perspectives in life and I think that is one on their opinions but I don't really agree with them but some of their statements are true because you can really buy a lot of drugs using cryptocurrency because it is hidden here and cannot easily be traced that is why they tell that it is the way on how things are going.

Altcoins to invest in? #108

Given the current drop and FUD, which altcoins are likely to recover back? Currently invested in Bitcoin but I'm thinking of converting to another coin.
Suggestions?
I think Bitcoin is still the number one who can bounce back even though the market is the the dip right now, because for me the best word for me to describe bitcoin is unstoppable, yes it is unstoppable and they are really bouncing back whenever this kind of suffering in the market takes place.

Bounty payment?? #375 (original question was asked March 13)

Hello everybody, i've got questions about bounties program.

1- Does bounty programs really pay?
2- Where I can see if the payment is been make?

Thanks to everyone.
On answering your questions

#1 Yes bounties really pay most of the bounties that I have been to really pays and by that I can confirm to you that they are really trustworthy

Your strategy in trading #379

I like the ping pong style on trading. For example i buy bch when its under 0.11 then sell over 0.12 its similar to most of altcoins.
Find a support line and buy from bottom sell from top. Easy and profitable.
For your case that case is very unusual in the market it is very rare to sell your coins on a higher value and I think that is one of the mistake most people do especially to those who really wants to sell their coins immediately but your strategy is good I like that kind of strategy tho. Thanks for your tip

Too bored to continue, but a quick glance at the titles of the rest of your posts show similar threads. Your posts are not constructive, as they will almost be never read. I do not consider any of the posts I looked through to be worth any merits. Above quotes were literally all of your posts minus this Meta thread. Bitcoin sections are slightly better for merits, but not if you keep repeating the same thing.

Not all constructive posts earn merits, but the most constructive of them. Remember merits are scarce and thus users will only give them to posts which they consider of the highest quality.

P.S. Are there really good guys that are giving away merit points when they see that the posts are on point and well constructed?

No it isn't. It's like saying "everyone who posts a new thread about getting negative trust from a DT member is not prohibited to do so". It's just a stupid idea.

He has I think (check his merits already recieved) he must know about this.
Archival threads probably aren't active, and if they are, they shouldn't really be in archival (I've always found it strange that you can still post in those threads). They're probably there because the person doing the giveaway has run out of sMerits.

I'd suggest you to read TMAN'S guide to getting merit. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3182178.0) He explained everything there that can help you earn merits and improve your posting overall. Again, don't force yourself to post in the topics you don't know about, stick to the ones you know and you'll see merit come in.

Don't post because you want to get merit points. Your post will end up looking like trying hard to get merit points. Post because you have something in your mind that you want to share to the forum and you think your idea will benefit those who will read it. If you have nothing new to add or share, don't post at all.

How to get merits? If i may add something beside all of the others have said, read a lot about bitcoin and cryptocurrency, and you might ended up making a great and high quality posts for other people, thus, increasing your chance to get merit. It is not a 100% guarantee for you to get merits even after you make many high quality posts.

I guess, up till you achieve full member ranks, all you care about is only making money rather than exploring about bitcoin and cryptocurrency itself, that is why you are stuck because of this new system.

I am really wandering
Well, you fucked up on your 4th word in this post, which is jarring to a native English speaker like me.  Yes, I'm used to people not being able to write well on the internet, but the fact is that "wandering" and "wondering" are both English-language words with very different meanings.  If you're going to make me jump through a linguistic hoop (no matter how trivial it may seem), I'm not giving you any merits.

And then there's this, which DarkStar_ has so nicely pointed out:

Stop posting on spam megathreads, and you might get a few merit points.
This is 100% true.  The only time I ever read posts in Bitcoin Discussion, Economics, or Speculation was when I was tagging and/or reporting shitposters.  Some people might read those, but I sure as hell don't, and I don't know anyone of sound mind who would enjoy reading poorly-written answers to idiotic questions over and over and over.  Those posts are never going to get merited unless there's some shady merit dealing going on.  I've always thought that shitposters don't do a lot of reading here anyway, so if those posts aren't earning merit by merit sources, high-ranked members, or peer-group shitposters, who's going to be meriting them?  Ans:  No one.

It is not necessary for every Tom, Dick and Harry to post in Meta asking why they are not getting merit.  It's getting annoying.

I certainly won't leave merit for people who can't figure out a simple system for themselves.  :/

Don't expect merits on your every constructive post, there are very low number of active members who are awarding merits to other community members. If you are good enough you don't need to worry about the merits, just contribute in topics and you will get them once your posts are observed by other members.

I have checked your show posts page bro and find that you are mostly concentrating on making the posts on Altcoin Discussion section. If you want the merits you should first in replying thread which has the valid queries and your answer should be there bro.

Next to that Technical and statistical related thread will allow you to get the more merits than other section giving you merits.
Since you are a full member you are having +merits bro. That itself good mate. Even some of the manager also does not have the merits. Managers look at your posts and confirm you about joining. Merits are just optional one.

This part I do not like as too many subjectivity on smerit giving, it is acceptable if someone feel helped to give the smerit but there should be objectivity also for giving smerit such as even not helped but the post is good then the poster should be given merit. This part of objectivity post should refer to some standard, so there should be 2 ways of merit giving :
1. Subjectivity, this kind is really personal reason of the merit giver so seems difficult to be followed except to know the giver personally.
2. Objectivity, this kind of posting should be understood and complied by most of forum members here as just to meet the standard. This standard can be such a rule in bounty program to be complied with measurable things quantitatively.

Well yes. everyone grades everything differently. I would say that a posat that is worthy of merit to me may not be merit-worthy to someone else and vice versa.

2. Objectivity, this kind of posting should be understood and complied by most of forum members here as just to meet the standard. This standard can be such a rule in bounty program to be complied with measurable things quantitatively.

What do you mean by a bounty program?

Also, as you have previously said, there can't be some sort of rule. The only rule is award merit to those you feel have a good quality post. I could say, when I read through a thread before posting, I should take more care in assessing the acuity and quality of each post in relation tot the op/preceeding posts, however, this would take a lot longer to do than just reading thorugh a thread to get all the information and see if you can pick up anything that someone has already posted (it's not as fun to analyse as it is to skim read posts and learn from there).

I analyse your posts and i see that your most of posta are in altcoins section. So if you want to get merits then try to explore whole forum and if possible then try to post in all sections. if you want to get more merits then i suggest you to post in meta section, you can also get it by post in onther section too. And there are many threads who giveaway merits for the constructive poster so you can also post your link and get some merits.

Will this is the bad side of merit system, sometimes some of member here are just giving merit to each other, even if it is not right to get merit still they give another one. Maybe this is because of new requirements in joining a signature campaign. So sometimes, this merit system was abuse by anyone else.

Post good quality posted, explore other sections in forum, make post useful and helpful to other people's and wait merit will come.
Do not do spam posting, negative etc. Just share something in your mind also can get merit. Try to do good posting not by merit, merit automatically come to you.

No he shouldn't
Agree! That is why the forum has lots of shitty higher ranked users (Senior and above) due to its old ranking system.
I believe that somewhere in the forum, there are lots of Hero and Ledgendary who really don't care or don't know about merit system. The reasons are they were ranked up easily with old ranking system; and their main (maybe only) goals to join the forum is getting money, not for discussions, sharing knowledge, help others. Consequently, those ones moslty active in shadow place of the forum (altcoins child boards).

You can create high quality content. That's why Merit system invented: to improve the quailty of posts and support content creators. If you focus on the content users will probabşy share sMerits with you, but don't expect to earn dozens of Merits on your first 3-5 posts. Try to create as much as possible...

No trolling, it's simply pointing out the best way to get merits would be to post dumb threads if theymos implemented a system that gave merits based on views and replies. Hence, the "If this was implemented". This (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3217679.msg33459904#msg33459904) is a legit suggestion though.
