Title: Rx570 ITX Dead
Post by: tvath on March 29, 2018, 04:10:45 PM
I had a rx570 ITX mini as part of a 6gpu rig which was all running well. Then I went back to the rig one of the GPU's fans was not spinning nor was the card hashing. Removed the card since then the card won't switch on, no fan spinning or any output I have tried it with different risers, same result. Any ideas ? or is the card just dead now

Well if you plugged it into a different system directly onto a pcie 16x slot and it didnt post... then its safe to assume its dead Jim.

My dying card even has spun on its fan. It most like you card didn't get power. Yeah better to test on the different system with directly plug to PCIe 16x.

1. how many wattages your PSU?

Try to:
2. Check a cable from/to PSU.
3. input a powering to a riser from another cable (PSU).

I tried another card on the same setup and it worked, so the gpu must be dead

It's most probably a blown VRM due to overheating. Those mosfets fail very often.
If the fan desn't spin at all then this is most probably the case.

You can check with a multimeter if you have a short over +/- of the power connector, if you don't
then check if you have a short after the fuses, if you do, visually inspect the VRM mosfets, most often
the failed one is exploded or cracked. Replace the VRM mosfet ( and fuses ) or remove it, most of the card work
well with one missing VRM. Only it will consume a little more power and it may burn the other mosfets in time
due to overloading ( depend on cards )...

If you're not lucky, the other problem could be the GPU failing.. in this case you need a new GPU chip.. probably around 22.. 25usd for the RX570 chip.
