Title: Any advice for a Bitcoin newbie?
Post by: harvw on March 29, 2018, 07:40:17 PM
Are there any Bitcoin bear market seasoned veterans who can share some words of wisdom or advice to a bitcoin newbie experiencing a bitcoin bear market for the first time?

Any recommendations on good people to follow on twitter?

And any other specific advice on how to play out this bear market would be greatly appreciated.

How you got that status on this forum, if you write that you are a newbe? I advise you to either keep your assets in this bear market, or try to play in a short, but it is dangerous.

New investors should take the time to research on bitcoin and the blockchain as a whole, they should understand how it works to avoid panic   when the price is in  a big dip

Here's a word of advice, don't hold for the long term, buy low and sell high, but don't hold for an all time high as those are rarer than you think.

If the price drops 5% then buy it (unless there it is due to very bad news), then sell it once it goes up 3-6%, don't wait for ridiculous gains as you will likely suffer losses this way.

I would suggest you exercise patience in this bearish market. This is the time you must critically examine the market to know which coin to invest in order to generate good returns. If you think you cannot hold for a long time, then i will advise not to buy bitcoin.

The best thing to do as a newbie is to watch and learn, follow keenly on the trending news, study the market well  and invest with lots of caution, do all that necessary research and know all there is to know, crypto is a high risk affair that needs time to understand

Buy in the dip, like now, $6k~5k os less and HODL for long term like 2020.
Don't trade if you don't  have experience for that.
Don't buy shitcoins.
If you decide to buy some good altcoins, buy in the dip and HODL even it crash after you bought.

Yea a few.
Never panic sell. When you see the price dropping, brace yourself and steel yourself against whatever news you might hear or read. Don't give in
Don't FOMO money into the market. A lot of people see prices going up and believe that it will keep going up and they don't want to miss out. A bull market isn't time to buy, it is time to sell.
Never put in more money than you can afford to lose. Don't put in emergency money or any money you will be needing anytime soon. Be smart about investing.

Do not focus on following people on twitter because many ofnthem are just troll. Better focus on trading and investing. Little advice like, when you trade, better buy when red and sell when green. Do not buy coins with no future. Also, always stay calm and relax.

In order for a newbie to get familiar with the bitcoin he or she needs to join any sort of signature campaign which is not possible or newbie once they reach junior member rank they can apply for bounty campaign which will give clear picture of market situation and how it works but newbies was learn a lot from this forum through the experienced users.

Yes, I lost a lot because I didn't have enough experience. When bitcoin started to fall two months ago, my friend told me that bitcoin would recover and not sell, which would cost me a lot of money. Now that bitcoin is still falling, I've lost more, and I don't want to hold on anymore.

If you are a newbie and you want to buy into bitcoin, I think you should buy bitcoin as soon as the market is red. And sell fast when its price increases again. And before you buy it, you should research its market. You should keep track of bad news that may affect the value of bitcoin. Now, short-term investments are more profitable for you

I advice for a new bie to keep in touch with the bitcoin forum and gather knowledge and information about bitcoin and the other crypto market while for now the best thing is crypto usage and now the market is very much falling and it is very difficult to keep patience and wait for the future so in these days people are very silent and no one is participating with a good news about bitcoin the economists of the world are also silent and we have to promote bitcoin for every one.

Buy low sell high it is normal that everybody said as advice. But I want to say with this word that after buying bitcoin or any coin or token follow the news about the coin which you brought. Because in my experience I show mainly bitcoin will raise and dumping based on good news/bad news. So you also need to try to follow the news about crypto. understand the market trend.

Yes
Go through this topic--
Hello everyone, recently there has been a lot of panic on this forum due to the big price change of Bitcoin (as it always happens). Understandably, many people are confused and worried as they have lost thousands in their value, especially if they have bought higher than the current price. But as someone who has been into Bitcoin for 1.5 years (not too long, I know) I want to advice to newcomers to simply relax. Huge price swing were always a part of Bitcoin, so there's nothing extraordinary here and the worst thing you can do is to make panic trades. Basically, there are two main approaches to Bitcoin trading - you either hodl it, meaning you never sell it until it reached "the moon", or you are actively trading it to get profit from volatility. So, if you believe in Bitcoin's technology and don't have experience as a trader, I suggest you to not touch your coins - Bitcoin always tends to increase in its value in the long run.

From my point of view the price will again be high but just be patient.

The advice for a Bitcoin newbie is to determine your personal goals when researching and learning about Bitcoin. If you think that studying and learning Bitcoin to earn a large amount of money in a short period of time, do not continue, because this work will make you quickly feel depressed. You have to work very hard and be patient with what you do. Do not be eager to get more income without ignoring the basic understanding of the Cryptocurrency market. Please work carefully and seriously. Everything will come naturally to you.

Research, learn, and take your time.  When you are ready, then buy and hold.  I see too many people rush in and get bitten by scams.  Careful out there, it’s an unregulated field so people can make all kinds promises, and you have no recourse to get your money back.  Think of Bitcoin as cash that is done electronically.  Once you give cash to someone, the only way to get it back is if that other person willingly give it back to you.

For beginners

Study the market before even you put a single penny….just because it has all this hype and has growth manyfold in months doesn't mean it will keep continuing

See on what are different aspects that makes a cryptocurrencies like miners, hash rates that are provided , technology used, backing , backin research on every aspect of the currency.

If you still decide to invest your time and money in bitcoin, then we advise you not to hurry.
After all, the rate of this cryptocurrency is falling and increasing, so no one will give you a
guarantee that you will invest the last money and in a few months will become a dollar
millionaire. Remember - you can loss everything! But you can make a lot of money .
Be ready to the change of prices. After all, this is a frequent phenomenon in the cryptocurrency
markets. Therefore, there are several strategies that investors follow. It is these strategies that
will help you to avoid large losses in volatility.
One of the most common strategies is diversification, but to use it, you will need to make efforts.

I know it sounds strange, but just trade less.

It is impossible to catch every green candle and sell before every red one, do not panic if you bought something and it fell another 5% after you bought it.

Learn at least some basic TA (technical analysis), make a strategy and keep to it. We all have bad trades, we have all lost money at some point. Just don't give up after a few bad hits, keep learning and improving.

Yes. Three main advices.

  • Before going for Bitcoin, make assured that you're living in a country where Bitcoin is a legal tender. Otherwise, you're not supposed to join this forum.
  • There is no competition with those who invest in bitcoin. The performance of your investment portfolio is your own. If you treat it as a competition, you will be increasingly stress and frustrated and end up making emotional decision, not reasonable decision. That does not look good on you at all.
  • Don't put all eggs in one basket, Diversify.

Suggestions to a newbie from fellow newbie. hehe. I am here also still a newbie, and not yet good at bitcoin world. my suggestion is, we should keep learning about anything related to bitcoin, more reading and asking it is important for us, so we can become true bitcoiners. many of the real science we have to learn, one of which is this bitcoin trade. if we are not yet good at trading, I suggest that you do not have too emotional pursuit of profit. experience in trading is also an important factor. and if you have bought the coins and the price is down, you should keep holding your coins until the price goes up again.

if you are interested in being a trader, do not ever sell your panic coin when the price is low as the current BTC price is far from the price as 3 days ago. Learn the charts, the price of the moment may have happened, and it takes some time to fully recover. So, tranquility and emotional intelligence are the key traders.

The best advice I can give you if is to HOLD your bitcoins in a bear market without selling it. If you know trading, then you can move your bitcoins into an exchange like poloniex and do margin trading where you get leverage to short sell in the bearish market, and in that way you profit from the market downward price.

I'll quote the meaningful and famous advice by Andrew M, MD of Maroon Capital Group:

The biggest challenges that Bitcoin currently faces are flow of funds, a lack of market makers, and outsized exchange rate risk. It's nearly impossible to move USD in and out of the largest trading platform (MtGox) and, as a result, there are very few significant market makers participating in the exchange. Absent reliable providers of a liquid marketplace, volatility will remain high. This presents major difficulties for businesses and individuals that might otherwise accept Bitcoin as payment for goods and service in forecasting Bitcoin exchange rate risk. Bitcoin can't be a viable long-term currency unless, and until, it is more broadly accepted as an exchange medium for items of real value (i.e. these goods and services). These challenges are interconnected and the current regulatory assault is the single most important aggravating factor to these circumstances.”

My friend, I think your main mistake was deciding to invest in a market of which you had no knowledge or previous experience, and it is clear that like many other newbies you will be forced to learn on the fly, and you may lose money as a learning price.

But one of the characteristics of the great traders is their patience and persistence. I would not recommend selling at this time, but to hold in the long term. Meanwhile, take advantage of these waiting times to learn the basics of trading so that you have your mind occupied and do not make panic decisions.

I have some experience for the newbie in the current bear market:
1. Study the trade documents available on youtube or on the web to analyze charts on the tradingview so that you can buy at low prices and sell at high prices.
2. Must have steel spirit to be free from FOMO.
3. If loss is 5%, please cut loss.
