Title: new bitcoin website Post by: earney on February 06, 2011, 10:36:04 PM The past week or so, I've been working on a new website (http://www.bitcoinmania.com) which generates charts that show the number of transactions, BTC Spent, coins mined, and difficulty history. This was inspired by a post on this forum asking for the number of non mined transactions. I hope you will check out the site. At the bottom is a link to a suggestion page that lists some of the upgrades I'd like to make, along with an email address that suggestions can be sent to..
Thanks! Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: genjix on February 06, 2011, 11:47:08 PM 404
Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: TheKoziTwo on February 06, 2011, 11:57:56 PM Great website! Seems to be a bit unstable though... I also couldn't find your website on first try.
Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: earney on February 07, 2011, 12:23:34 AM thanks.. I'll look into the stability issues..

Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: Mike Hearn on February 07, 2011, 12:34:46 PM That's pretty cool. I'd suggest moving it off your home server to a dedicated host. You can buy the hosting with Bitcoins.
Could you maybe rescale the graphs to show the last 6 months or so with the Y axis capped so huge spikes don't hide the regular trends? Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: TTBit on February 07, 2011, 01:36:28 PM Got error first time trying, worked after refresh.
I like the site. Suggestion: Log scale for the difficulty chart. Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: sandos on February 07, 2011, 01:39:59 PM Got error first time trying, worked after refresh. I like the site. Suggestion: Log scale for the difficulty chart. Hmm, I got this exact same behaviour too. I also get this _every_ time when going to the betpoker site? Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: ribuck on February 07, 2011, 01:48:36 PM Got error first time trying, worked after refresh. Same for me. Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: earney on February 07, 2011, 02:17:58 PM Ya going to try to make money off of this project? Not really, I figure I probably won't make much money. If people want to donate some bitcoins, that would be great. If not, that is okay too. ;) Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: earney on February 07, 2011, 02:19:47 PM I'm also mining with the same machine, so I've bumped the number of threads down. I'll see if that helps the 404 errors that are being generated..
I want to thank everyone for the suggestions. I'll look into making those ASAP. Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: Cryptoman on February 07, 2011, 03:11:22 PM Looks good. A couple of recommendations for you to consider: Change the time scale on the upper difficulty graph to 90 days since it doesn't change that often. On the bottom graph, you might consider using a log scale on the y (difficulty) axis.

In most cases, I only included 2010 and beyond since not much activity occurred in 2009. Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: Cryptoman on February 08, 2011, 04:43:24 AM The difficulty graph will be useful to me as I have been plotting it manually. I'm not sure the statistics are meaningful for trending data. I sent you a donation.

I'm not sure the statistics are meaningful for trending data. I sent you a donation. Thanks I appreciate the donation.. :) I figured some of this information would be useful for bitcoin developers. If people have ideas of things they would like to have graphed, I can look into adding these. Most of the work has already been done to collect and store the data, so querying it shouldn't be too difficult in most cases. Title: Re: new bitcoin website Post by: Cryptoman on February 08, 2011, 02:53:38 PM How often are you updating the difficulty factor? We have a new difficulty as of yesterday, but your charts don't reflect it.
