When I originally designed the Labyrinth, I planned to use lab-created rubies. I ordered 100 of them (minimum order qty) and they were not as red in color as I would have liked, so I built 20 of them and shelved them - they’ve been sitting in my safe since 2015. I originally planned to release 250 Labyrinths with rubies, so these have serials 01/250 through 20/250 and are dated 2015. There are and will only be these 20 in existance though.

Lab-created rubies are identical chemically, physically and optically to natural rubies, and this process allowed me to get the precise spherical shapes I needed. I ordered them from Meller Optics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE275I3p8LU

These can appear red in the right lighting, but the color is more pink than anything.

This auction is for serials 07, 09 and 11

(08 and 10 will not be available, as I have future plans for them. Only four more bars will be auctioned following this: 12, 13, 14, 15)

Sniping:  No, any bid placed within the final 5 minutes of each auction will add an additional 5 minutes ad infinitum until no new, valid bid has been placed for 5 minutes.

I understand the auction rules to mean that increments of 5 minutes are *on* the five minutes.  I believe that I won this auction.

that would mean auction is still going on and amass to a lot of time or maybe i didn't understood what you meant.

The next bid came in too late @ 3:11:32pm, 1 minutes and 32 seconds past the additional 5 minute increment.

Since it says "additional 5 minutes" I think it means in addition to the original ending time of the auction.  Otherwise, it wouldn't be "additional."  But I can also entertain your meaning as well, just can't embrace it.  :)

that gets me thinking too but as it has been always followed here, the last 5 minute bid extends the time from that bid time to 5 minute, till that continues...

and yeah i can understand why its hard when odds are in your favor :)

Because my bid was within the next additional 5 minutes increment.

I am looking at forum time on my screen and sure looks like greenplastic bid 11 @ 0.48 then AdvocateOne next bid 11 @ 0.49 over 6 minutes later. Whomever @Kialara says won well bought gentlemen.

I don't dispute your analysis on the time the bids were placed--that isn't at issue.  What is at issue is the interpretation of "additional" five minutes.  I think additional means in addition to.  Again, I can entertain the other interpretation, but I sure as heck won't embrace it.  :)  I love Kialaras too much.

I always interpret it as if there is a bid just before end time it extends the auction by 5minutes from the END time(in this case) but only for the first bid after, then it becomes a running 5minutes from the latest bid.

edit- after re reading kialara's sniping rule it does read in a way that the auction does not have to end before the running 5 minutes begins, in this case I would say gp wins

I'm feeling a little ganged up on.   ???  The language "will add an additional 5 minutes ad infinitum" suggests that multiple 5 minute increments may be added.  So I don't think it means that just one is added.

The language on how the auction extends is a little vague there is a good case to be made AdvocateOne actually won. @Kialara decides. With only nine Ruby editions being auctioned this is the most rare Kialara AFAIK I went way over budget because of that.

lol you are not being ganged up on. If the sniping rule said that any bid within the last 5 minutes adds an additional 5 minutes to the END of the auction then you would have won. but this particular one reads as though the 5 minutes is added to any bid received in the last 5 minutes of the auction(in this case I believe GP wins). Wording in sniping rules has to be very carefully read and a lot of times it does lead to these kinds of arguments. This is why these questions and clarifications should be asked about before the auction has ended.

I believe that is the best interpretation (albeit my understanding is biased).  If additional means in addition to, then it can only mean in addition to the END of the auction.  Otherwise, it would have said that a *new* 5 minutes would start running from the time of the last bid.

If more than 5 minutes pass during the no sniping phase the last bid is the winner.  More than 5 minutes passed between bids.

But that's not how the rule was worded.

I'm actually saying you won.  You bid within the sniping period and then the next bid was more than 5 minutes which was too slow.

The whole point of the no sniping rule is so it doesn't come down to luck and who can get the last bid at the last second before it expires.  Your bid was within the 5 minute no sniping period that is set up to allow the auction to play out and your bid extended it 5 more minutes.  GP didn't respond to your bid fast enough so the 5 minutes expired and the auction ended.

So it looks like GP's bid within the last 5 minutes extended it 5 minutes and you bid within that 5 minute period.  GP still took longer.  Either way you interpret it AdvocateOne won.

My understanidng as to how auctions work here, is that bc GP’s bid was placed within the last 5 minutes, that the auction would end 5 minutes from this point - to 10:02:24 and then be over.

So looking at the bids, had nobody said anything, I would have understood it as GP having been the high bidder @ 0.48

In future auctions I will make this more clear. I pulled the rules from another auction and then added the ad infinitum part and other parts to try to make it more clear - next time I will add an example (i.e.) as well.

GP and AdvocateOne I am sending you each a PM now to sort this so hopefully everyone will be happy.

You designated a time the auction ends but now it ends at GP's bid.  That is confusing.  Your wording is ambiguous enough to interpret it how you want but I recommend in the future you stick to the end time that you designate and time added is added after the time you designate as the end.

Hellot, I agree with the ambiguity. And for the record, my last statement was simply how I interpreted the winner based on my understanding of how these auctions work. I was not declaring GP the winner. I offered AdvocateOne a bar I planned to hold onto for less than he bid, and am offering GP a discount on the 11 as well which I imagine he'll be happy with when he receives the PM.

In future auctions I will try to be more clear so there is no misunderstanding.

Hopefully this can serve as a lesson to others as well.
