Title: HumbleBundle 2+3!! Anyone need? I DONT RIP OFF THE DEVS LIKE OTHERS DO!
Post by: kookiekrak on July 27, 2011, 03:28:05 AM
I know not everyone has paypal to buy the humble bundle pack, so i'll do it for you.

You specify how much you want to pay for it, send me the equivalent btc, i'll convert to gox and buy it with paypal.

support awesome indie game devs!

All I need is your email so I can buy the package in your name.

If you pay more than the current average, you'll get the games from humblebundle 2 also!!!

What is humbleBundle?

http://www.humblebundle.com/

It's a coordinated effort between some indie developers, where they provide games for sale as a package at a "you set your own price" price.  And part of it goes to EFF and Charity (Child's Play).  On top of that, you can select which percentage of your funds goes where.

I believe it's on it's 4th iteration, despite the current bundle being called #3.  Some of the past bundles have been fantastic.  Not sure about the games in the current one but hey, when you can set your own price, you can try them at a reasonable price.

How do we know that you're not just buying the humble bundle for $0.1, and keeping the rest for yourself?
I apologise if I'm wrong, but seeing as there's been so many scams recently, I'm very cautious.

I'm guessing he will buy the games in your "name", so you'd see it on the scoreboard?

yup. and because i've been trading here for a while and i'm reputable (except for a small mishap with my account getting hijacked)

and because it would hurt the indie game developers.

you could go buy it yourself also if you wanted to. or you could pay the .01$ worth of btc.

also on a side note, i've been addicted to hammerfight. it's amazing

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - just shows that you had a good idea :)

I honestly hadn't checked the forums when I had set up the deal on BTCDeals - and was already working on the code modifications to handle the set your price portion well before you posted. Good luck though - a bump for the competition :)

(Oh and just a side note - I won't be running the deal past tomorrow at noon, time to go back to my regular business model - you still have a little under 2 weeks until Humble Bundle is over with :))

i'm not running a business though. i just want more people to support humblebundle!

I also dont impose a minimum because I feel that people who are doing that do so to skim some from the top. Which is just WRONG!

Errr, no that is not wrong. I want people to support Humble Bundle as well - think it's a great program and it deserves as much attention as possible. I also want to be compensated for my time - and my time, from a business perspective is not worth running orders for people who aren't willing to support Humble Bundle - I make it clear they can go elsewhere to get it cheaper if they so desire. I do take a cut, it's what makes it worthwhile for me as a business owner - even when the cut is low. Every single order (26 at this point in time) receives an email showing how their payment was broken down and based on what market rate I a based it off of - including what my cut came to. I have always run my business transparently and pride myself of my honesty. This same honesty is why I take a cut - I do pay the full amount, while I could easily do as some people are and pay the 0.01 per and pocket all of the donation. That is not who I am. I am happy doing this service for the little profit I am making, it's additional advertising for my site and hopefully will bring repeat customers on future deals who previously didn't know about my site.

Anyhow - I still wish you good luck - there is free market here - and people have a choice to go with me and my business while paying a small fee, or going with you without a fee. I welcome you as a competitor, and won't be changing my pricing structure - which you should see as a good thing because in the end it's the consumers choice and that could be a better deal for you.

You're trying to hard, dude

I pity the fool who falls for this. Looks like an obvious scam attempt to me.

The idea that you would do this without charging any fee whatsoever is ridiculous.

How is this different from Shift?

I don't understand why there is all of this drama.  Kookie is doing everyone a service here, supporting indy developers.  Our transaction went off without a hitch.  I do think the people trying to profit from this are kind of scummy, thought.

Do we really need two threads on this?  Between this and tecshare bumping his own threads daily there leaves little room for page 1 ads.

The Humble Bundle (http://www.humblebundle.com/) is 'donationware'; any donation you feel the developers deserve you can send, and you will receive the software package. The creators of the games have made it so you can support them as much or as little as you like, or even receive the game package after specifying that your contribution will be donated to the EFF or the Child's Play charity.

As this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34833.0) points out, there is no way after a purchaser receives their game bundle for the purchaser to verify if the amount sent in BTC to resellers was actually the amount used to purchase the game package.

This is equivalent to saying "Send me BTC, I promise I will donate all I receive to the Red Cross". Really?

Without a way to see that buyer's funds were donated in full to the Humble Bundle organization, I encourage kookiekrak (and all other resellers) to close this service and thread because of the perception of impropriety. The tone of the posts in this and the other reseller's thread are not those of philanthropists, but those of someone defending their scheme. Read through the thread and make up your own mind; or let me put some quotes here before they are edited:

there's one way you can. pay a few cents above the average so that you get the bonus humble bundle 2.

i'm not doing this to rip off the creators. i'm doing this so i can get usd->btc through paypal.
