Title: How can the average person use crypto?
Post by: pkcryptdude911 on March 30, 2018, 05:08:35 PM
Hey all, I am very new to crypto. Cryptocurrency is becoming a routine topic to talk about in households today.

The biggest issue people always bring up is that it is very difficult to use it to buy real, tangible products. Does anyone have any ideas of how to do this with limited fees and restrictions on the consumer? And are there any ICOs that are trying to solve this problem?

That's the problem cryptocurrencies in general are having right now. They're not idiot-proof. They're not that easy to use that even your grandmother can easily use it. As with purchasing using bitcoin, only a few online stores accepts bitcoin. Yes, the percentage is small, but hopefully we'll get a decent percentage of stores around the world that accepts bitcoin. Baby steps. As with physical brick & mortar stores, I'm really not sure as this differs from country to country.

Always remember that bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general are still in their very very early stages right now.

It is not difficult to use but rather there is not that many merchants that accepts bitcoin or crypto as payment. Spending it is very straight forward and can be learned by grade schoolers. We just need to wait til adoption copes up and then we can spend it freely, hopefully. As for fees, altcoins is better at it. There are alts that have less fees and shorter confirmation time.

Not because people invest in bitcoin it doesn't automatically mean that these people are actually using their bitcoin to transact. Most of the people that invested in bitcoin doesn't even know the importance of it and why it's made, most invest because bitcoin was on the rise last year.

Concidering myself as an average person I'm one of the few people that are using crypto for getting payments for my freelance work and sending money abroad. Most of traditional payment systems are either have limits in my country or simply not eligable here so if you are sending someone some money and the reciever is selling it instantly after getting these coins  then the money are transfered almost without any fees.

crypto will be used widely when you will not know that you are using blockchain and something happens, like you pay as you do today but there is blockchain behind. That is when it will become mainstream

Now slowly our local exchanges are adding merchants to there apps. you can pay your utility bills and book movie tickets directly paying bitcoins or altcoins. this is available in my country. Now bitcoin fee also reduced and confirmation also not taking much time.

I think Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not made only for high tech geeks to use them, just the opposite. Cryptocurrency philosophy can only make sense if average, wide masses use it.
The problem is that people are not educated enough and sometimes don't have enough interest to use new technologies. But using crypto realy isn't so demanding that average user couldn't get the basics and learn how to use it in everyday life for its own benefit.

This problem will only be solved when humans are going to act instead of just talking like one who is selling real stuff in the shops can accept Bitcoin as a payment method but as because he does not understand what is bitcoin and how to use it and no one has cared to explain him well so that's why people are not getting Bitcoin acceptance. If you want to see a bitcoin shop near your house where you can buy real stuff with Bitcoin then spread the Awareness of Bitcoin into business sectors and shops so they can finally interact with this new technology without the fear of money loss.

Already bitcoin is now ready to use in daily usage because it has got cheap transaction fee now so we can afford to pay even the common person but the prblm is bitcoin transaction is not instant but it will confirm in minutes. So it is suitable to use but the problem is the price is not stable so merchants afraid to take it as payment.

The population of people using bitcoin and Crypto moneys as a method of payment is very small, so that's why I'm done. Crypto moneys become a purely stock market instrument, maybe hope will be in the future.

Let me help you understand the issue and solution for the same. The thing is we are making the issue about bitcoin in very very broad sense and not using it with the available facilities that we have. I mean we are not bound to use the bitcoin in the online mode only or it is not restricted for us to use it in the off-line mode and that too in other forms. What I mean by this? We can always use this currency by converting into fiat and then using the fiat in real life world. I mean this is always great way of spending the money as the end result is achieved by one way or another. Bitcoin is one form of currency and if you cant use it in that form then just convert it to fiat and use it that way.  ;)

And are there any ICOs that are trying to solve this problem?

Oh yes there are many ICO's who came with the idea of bitcoin debit card to spend the bitcoins from blockchain to real life. Some of them are bitpay, TenX, Bitlord etc.

Crypto and Blockchain has still long way to go untill you can widely use it there isnt much you can pay or do with it besides buying selling and sending to eaach other. It sure has all attention it needs for beggining now all it has to do is became sucesfull and reliable in order to become widely used and accepted by stores and other business.
I dont consider myslef very educated tech vise yet i did not took ages to start trading and using Wallets and i can safely say that its not that hard for people to use it , all it takes userfriendly design for us and adoption from banks or atleast transaction firms to become one of our daily payment methods and the rest will be decided by coins who will deliver best product and its not much to wait there is already coins like Monaco and LTC who are working on making payments as easy as nowadays credit cards.

Cryptocurrencies' economy isn't really built up as of yet. There are only a few merchants willing to accept bitcoin in exchange for their goods due to the fact that the volatility is scaring them away to harbor any interest in integrating it into their business. As for the fees, you can always set the lowest possible fee that will confirm it in the next block at the given time. Most of the wallets right now have embedded this feature as well. The only restriction I can think of regarding crypto purchases is the cryptocurrency itself; will the merchant accept your payment or not?

So far, no ICOs have solved the same issue the big names of crypto have been trying to combat since they became big. In order for the crypto economy to flourish, businesses and merchants need to appear, which, so far, is not happening.

For now even bitcoin does have a struggle to be adopted in terms to be used or accepted by lots of merchants when it comes on buying real, tangible products.Merchants would really not easily considered crypto to be applied on business. Why? price is way too volatile and they are aware on the possible risk, instead on making profits or income they would possibly even loss.Beside on that fees are still there.

Bitcoin is more of an asset than currency. You may not understand the use as currency because of this limitation but now the crypto is improving with transaction fee and speed.of transaction.

there are no other solutions for now and even those ICOs will provide us nothing.
it is very hard to get implemented right now because of its complexity and at the same time because of its fees and transactions.
complexity will be solved by time because people will start to understand technology even though it will take a lot of time to do that.
and right now we are focusing on the fees and lightning transaction.
after everything is done,it will be easy for people to use it in their real life.
at least for now it is more of an asset other than currency as other people said.

I don’t think anyone can use the cryptocurrency now like the way it should be used like buying stuffs online or maybe there is but I don’t think they are buying stuffs online because people are preferring to hold their coins than using them for purchases. They think its more of an asset now than as a currency.

I dont think cryptocurrencies have a future as a currency for buying products or paying for services.  Theyr just not practical compared to fiat and they are way too volatile to be held.  What i do think has a future is the blockchain technology the ability to decentralize many industries.  An example that i really like is that ico that is happening for a $400m apartment building in nyc.  Those coins will have a use and that is percent ownership in the building.

In my observation,, bitcoin is user friendly.. Can be easily understand and be used by any person regardless of educational attainment.. This technology even with a complicated perception and presumably hi-tech by certain member of the society.. This isn’t true and only those who experienced using it will give the same sentiments..

ICO does offer better alternative than bitcoin,, some survive and succeed but majority failed..

Using crypto average person could deal with at least two problems. First, using cryptocurrency could be more user friendly. It is not hard, but many people don't follow the technology and it would be hard for them to use it. Some apps can make this a lot easier or some cards like visa loaded with coins, that we could see in use. Second, if many users start to use some coin they could face the problem called scaling, where the whole network could be congested because of slow transactions process.

we are still at the beginning and it is normal that its use and its diffusion is still slow.
But it is already important that so many people now know of their existence. probably in 10-20 years it will be customary to use cryptocurrencies in everyday life.

It is very easy to use Crypto currencies for payments but the problem is the transaction fees in which it makes the commodities to be expensive, the traffic in the blockchain in which transaction waiting time will be an issue and the availability of the establishments which are only few. Better to use your Crypto currencies for investments to earn more fiat and convert it to your local paper money for your instant spending.

In most of the countries crypto hasn't been welcome yet ,so there are no solutions, when the government adopted crypto then automatically there will be a lot of stores accepting crypto for payment, at that time you can buy all of the product using crypto, but the debate and adoption still a long way

That place you are in is unbelievable crypto currency becoming a routine topic lol I'm on what can i say a pretty advanced neighborhood but that topic never comes out in every house and mouth of everyone in fact I'm the only knows it i choose not to tell them because i might be trash talked or badmouth of becoming an idiot. Buying real products in crypto might works sometimes but those are limited and might be not available in your country or place.

It actually depends where country are you from. Some countries are widely using and adapting bitcoin and cryptocurrency that is why it is not difficult for them to use it in a daily basis. Some countries have limited retail stores or businesses that are using cryptocurrency in their transactions.

As of now some of the country don't want to regulate crypto due to some reason which it can be use buying illegal stuff. And that is the common problem why we can't use our assets to buy goods and product in some stores. But nowadays there are some online sellers accepting crypto around the internet but I'm not sure if the person behind is trustworthy.
