It's not really possible for someone to sell bitcoin that they do not have, these same like very false accusations without much to actually back them up. Please provide further evidence to support your point and then I might be a little bit more inclined to believe what you have to say,

Very unfair. Hopefully the exchanger who did the cheating way as you mentioned already no longer exists. Because of course this will harm many people. And I just know of a case like this.

The only fishy thing here is that the member xbiv2 gave you 6 sMerit points for 5 words.  ::) {All your sMerit has come from him}
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1035718

What does the selling of coins have to do with Mt Gox? It was an exchange that got hacked and the price dropped after that news was released, not before it was released. The latest price drop was due to the trustee selling coins on open exchanges and this caused a little price drop.

How do you bring the two together?

The merits and the alts are indeed obvious, but the topic might not be. Bitfinex (and tether) might very well turn out to be the next Mt Gox. It is again the same old story. Buying bitcoins with money/tether which you do not have. That might have lead to the peak and we could now be retracing. The OP is wrong in the sense that it is not about exchanges selling bitcoins that they do not have.

Possible to sell them but it's not going to last very long, people will soon decide to withdraw them and then there's no actual bitcoin there for them to withdraw. Only way it would work for an extended period is if people never withdrew or enough deposited to cover it.

"hacked" mean come unknown person transact all bitcoin so yourself, it do the owner to avoid loss and initiate bankruptcy, and no one can do anything against it.
btc-e.com the last example, it was open angain in another country and the police cannot do anything with it.
you bitcoins save only if you keep in in you wallet https://electrum.org/
Bitcoin mean no one can find you`r money, even policy.

Too concerned about him/her/whatever?
The person didn't even write a correct statement, making everybody confused as to what they meant to say!
Now, here comes the second person xbiv2 (or maybe the alt account only ;)) who gave merits to such a post which is not even worth half a merit!
What has science to do with the presentation of OP here? Any logic please?
Who, and how can somebody give this guy a better direction without even understanding what they are basically trying to say?
Please elaborate - what did the OP try to convey us in their 3 lines and another 5 words statement?

"hacked" mean come unknown person transact all bitcoin so yourself, it do the owner to avoid loss and initiate bankruptcy, and no one can do anything against it.

Did they really do that? Heck, my bad I didn't knew! Aww snap! /s
Hacking and selling both are two different things, moron! They declared themselves as bankrupt because of a hack that took place over the exchange (but if they mislead everyone by telling that to everyone and possessed the BTC with them only, that's where selling can be considered as a crime committed by them as it was people's money and not theirs.)

Oh yeah, really! Right?
WRONG! Even Bitcoins are traceable (if you leave any evidences online of your transactions, be it signing a message here or using an exchange to sell your coins where you need to do a KYC before they allow you to do so). Bitcoin is not completely anonymous, it is pseudonymous.

You're too clever a bluff to say that.

This really made me laugh.
Probably the dumbest way of trying to exchange merit between alts I've ever seen.

Seriously? You couldn't find two posts that were better than this?
Ups, I've checked you post history....Indeed , this is the best you could do.

Because this thread is Garbage!!! Broken English, no main idea, no facts , nothing.
And from the way to post seems I have the feeling you might be another alt.

"Master"? Master in what?
Stop using google translate!!!! You've just told us that is not good to give a guy good directions!!!  ;D ;D

~snip

I must congratulate you!
On both having the patience to deal with that and for actually understanding what he was trying to say.
I was going to reply to him but I gave up on the second line.

The topic is stupid because the user claimed they sell bitcoin they don't have.
And MtGox did exactly the opposite just as Bitfinex might be doing the trouble started when poeple tried to get fiat out of MtGox.

So, it's a useless debate.

It is impossible, at is has been said, to even send a bitcoin you don't have. Maybe by paypal, or another system where you can cancel your transaction, but, even so, you will need to have bitcoin to be able to scam this way.
Now, If you don't have any proof, any source, just do not accuse.
Besides, you seem to have a farmer account and you are shamelessly sending merit to don't deserving posts...

Yeah bro have any chance to be that anytime exchanger could scam , but mtgox failed because of many traders open long positions and earned a lot of money thats why mtgox was closed.

So if you want to hold bitcoin for a long time, you should transfer the bitcoins to your local wallet.
Because no exchange is absolutely safe.

I recently heard about this people on the forum sending out merits to people undeserving to it. It makes me wonder how they do it and this is getting unfair for people who works hard to gain merit..this is saddening. If merit system has not yet arrive i could have been a member now if we base it to the number of postage. For me MERIT SYSTEM just fave the way to cheating here in the forum. I wish we go back to the old system of basing the ranking on the number of posts this way we can be assure that people deserve their ranks.

NEVER KEEP YOUR BITCOINS IN ANY EXCHANGER!

then it will be a chaos in the cryptocurrency and the price will be dropped deeper and maybe cryptocurrency will fail to grow. we need to move our bitcoin into another wallet, I prefer to use an offline wallet and not save at the exchanges for a big amount except if we want to sell our bitcoin. it is too risky to save our bitcoin in the exchanges because we don't know how long the exchanges could run their services so we need to prevent the bad things that might happen later.

It's easy to say but very hard to do. Now store bitcoins in an offline wallet and withdraw coins to the exchange before each transaction is not a problem. But how to do this when the transaction price is $ 50 and the queue to confirm the transaction a few days?

It's unlikely another mtgox scenario will happen any time soon, and some people use exchanges for day trading as their primary source of income. Of course there is a risk of some bad egg screwing up, or getting hacked, but the major exchanges around now don't seem to be a bad bunch, e.g. Poloniex, Binance and Bittrex all seem to be handling it well. It's fine to keep your money in an exchange, just don't keep your life savings in one, only what you need to get your jobs done.

If the bitcoin drops to $ 3000. That can happen. At that time you can happen on a large floor, the other floor will close, the best way is to withdraw all coin off the floor. That may be true

If this is true this is a form of cheating and manipulation of bitcoin. Is this made to collapse bitcoin's popularity? It is sad how everyone is so affected by one careless act that could ruin the entire bitcoin community. This should be regulated so as not to make FUD's among coin investors. Hope we can get rid of these type of manipulations.

Yes, it is not advisable to keep the coins at the exchanges. I only keep those coins in exchange on which i have to trade. Once trading is done, i move my all coins back to the wallet. It do cost me some tx fee for withdrawing from exchange but it save my money in case something wrong happen with the exchange.
