Title: re: Standard CPU and GPU Temperature (°C)
Post by: enaj825 on March 31, 2018, 02:16:11 AM
Hi! I'm new to GPU crypto mining. So, since graphics cards are so expensive these days I bought only 1 Palit GTX 1050ti Dual OC just to try or test it out. I'm using Intel Core i7 7700 @ 3.60GHz and mining Monero (XMR) using MinerGate.

When using only GPU Mining and set the Intensity to 4 (max), Graphics temp is steady at 44°C, CPU still getting temp 41°C - 52°C, although CPU Mining is switched OFF.

When using both GPU and CPU Mining, and using only 3 CPU Cores (there are 8 Cores) the temperature starts to pump up and down (57°C - 64°C), but when used only 1 CPU Core temperature plays at 50°C to 61°C.

So, may I know what would be the standard temperature (°C) for GPU and CPU? I asked it because of mining hardware are so expensive these days and damaging will cost me a lot...much more if I build a rig with 6 or 12 GTX 1080ti. Please share your thought. Thank you.

for the gpu anything under 65 C is okay for 24 hours a day as far as processor temps i like to keep my processor under 50 C. Minergate is trash Yes you're new and Yes i started there too but go to ethermine.org, Slushpool, or somewhere else.

Exactly what this guy said. Actually you can even push it up to 70. But in general, the principle is that the lower the temps, the better for your GPU.

The next question you might ask is 90-100% fanspeed ok? Yes. Thats better than running your GPUs at high temps. All this information and more is available on google btw.

There's is no standart for GPU temperature.
But, if you want to save for your GPU's, please keep the temperature at range 65C-75C, actually, <70C is better for 24/7 GPU mining.

...processor temps i like to keep my processor under 50 C.

Don't know the trick to maintain that low temp. As I've said, am using 1 GTX 1050ti to mine monero yet getting 41°C - 52°C even without switching on CPU to mine.

Are you mining? Maybe you have noticed at that temp range you'll be smelling something like burning plastic, right? So, do you think my GPU will survive a year or two mining at 24/7 non-stop?

you should not worry about those temps, they are perfectly ok
however if we are talking about mining stuff here, that means that rigs should works 24/7, right and there is simply thing - the colder the cards are - the longer they will last.   so I'd say all temp lower then 70C is quite ok, higher then that, well, potentially it could cause some trouble in 6-12 month. imho.

Your CPU and GPU temperature both are still fine and very cool indeed, so dont worry. For CPU, you just need to make it below 75C and for GPU, it should be cooled down below 70C. The optimum ranges I always try to set for my rigs are like: CPU 65-70C (for Burst mining rig) and GPU: 55-60C by forcing cooling fan (actually the better solution should be related to ventilation plan), but dont push it too much, One of my GPU fan was defective just after 8 months of mining as I forced it make GPU cool at 45C (GPU is MSI 1070 seahawk hybird cooler).

the temperature is fine so don't worry. to mine coin better manually switch coin more an advantage if compared with using minergate. if using a CPU better mining in BCN than XMR because of too high a difficulty.

Remember there is also the VRM (Voltage Regulator) temperature that is hotter than the GPU Core temperature. They however can sustain higher temperatures between 80°C and 100°C but anything over 90°C and you're close to melting the VRM.

65°C-75°C normal temperature of the processor's GPU for mining.
Remember, the maximum temperature is not so terrible as fluctuations in temperature from 0°C to 70°C. Fluctuations should be avoided.
