Post by: vilello on March 31, 2018, 04:25:28 AM

Nothing is "excessive" in mining equipment, since as it is a technology for mass consuming, it follows the Moore's law, which means what today is the top, tomorrow is alredy obsolete. So if you invest more today your equipment will be competitive for longer time.

First off: what kind of coins are you wanting to mine? If you want to mine bitcoin, then even if you have an array of the newest GTX 1080ti GPUs, you still wouldn't be able to break-even in a year's time. You need to purchase dedicated machines used solely for mining, so in this case you may want to employ the power of ASICs which is efficient and powerful enough to get you hashing bitcoin's with returns. However if you are looking to mine altcoins, GPUs are your bestfriend, with the lineups of AMD being the bang-for-the-buck in mining due to their efficiency and speed compared to nVIDIA GPUs. Also, "excessive" isn't a thing in mining because the difficulty constantly rises, and you want to make sure your machines keep up in order to make some profit.

the 1st requirement is how much is your electricity bill if its more than $0.25 per kilowatt hour you will not getting anything as for today price and difficulty. I've already turned off my mining rigs and thinking to sell it if the price/difficulty does not make any better.

Mining using just single GPU, it won't profitable.

That's not true.  You could have made a killing mining Ravencoin over the last few weeks.

It is really depends on the coins which you are planning to mine,if you are going to mine a certain coin you should do a lot of research if you asked me it is better to mine multiple coins so that you will have an option choose a mining which you can mine multiple coins at the same time, also if your electricity is costly in your country you should opt- in converting into a solar powered electricity source.

Yes, like if you want to mine burstcoin, than you'll need more hard disks and no matter of cpu and gpu.
