Title: [BEWARE] Scammer On Cryptsy Selling ASIC's and GPU's
Post by: gorgorom on November 02, 2013, 08:46:08 AM
Hey guys. Recently had a absolute horrible expierence regarding buying an ASIC off of a guy.

I seen a guy on cryptsy chat selling at first 2 7970 GPU's then I seen him trying to sell an avalon mini 60GHS. I thought nothing of it as I see that regularly. It was for 3BTC. Now I had been saving 3BTC for a very long time, I have no mining power so I relied on little jobs here and there for people to gain my BTC. I had been saving that for over a year. I worked for every bit of those coins for so long.

Anyway, I told him first that I wanted to use escrow. He said he would BUT I would have to pay the fees for it. Since that 3BTC was all of my BTC, I had no way to pay those fees. So he said "why don't I send you my ID or something" so I thought that was alright and told him okay. I should have just stopped there and said no.

I send him the BTC, and he said that was great and he would send it off on the next business day.

I havent heard from him since :'(

It makes me sick that people like me have to work so hard to get anywhere, but people like him feed off of others honesty and laugh it off? I have been an honest person my whole life and I consider myself a good person, but scum like him can lie and cheat and they get what took me a year in a matter of seconds by lying and cheating.

And I know there are gonna be comments like "You should have used escrow" and "It's nobodys fault but your own" but I couldnt afford the escrow :(

I am really distraught over this and hurt aswell. I now have no Bitcoin to fund my projects, so everything that I worked for will be shut down. :'(

I just felt it prudent to warn you of this scum. Here is all of the info I have on him. If this ID is of someone here and not him please let me know so I can take it down.

Goes By names: "jusmilk" "jusfree" "Loveavalon"

Chats on (places ive seen): Cryptsy

ID:

Tries to sell: Anything crypto

If you guys need any more info or want to help out, let me know.

Thanks guys :(

No he's not, judging by his licence he is 19 which (I think) makes him an adult in the UK.
Good luck OP, I hope you can recover your funds.

i truly find it funny that with bitcoins being OUR money instead of government assured IOU's people are more freely handing them out to anyone with little to no care.

think to yourself, if someone on the forums or a chat box randomly shouted out they were selling something what would you normally do to trust them if you were doing a FIAT 'cash-in-mail' transaction to a PO BOX (equivalent to a public address not linked to a persons location or identity)

most people would stay far away.

my rule is simple, if i cant meet up with them and slap them across the head with a wet fish if things went wrong, i would never do trades for anything more then the value of a couple pints at a bar/pub (throw away/disposable income)

3 BTC is no joke in this market, would have been great if you did due diligence on it. But the BTC is lost now, got to move on!
