First samsung made their move towards mining and intel. I hope more companies would decide to develop hardwares for cryptocurrency mining. I hope they wouldn't only think of accelerating crypto mining, I also hope that they would also develop a miner which is more efficient to use and is electricity friendly(consumes more electricity). I think miners like these are what the community needs atm in order to make mining more feasible and thus might solve slow transaction problems today. More companies doing this indeed will not only make it better for btc and crypto as a whole, but it would entice investors(outsiders) to try mining cryptos for once.

When you read or hear people saying that cryptocurrencies are dead and have no future, take a look at news like this. If a big company like Intel is moving in this direction is because they know cryptocurrencies are the future.

With awarness of crypto is raising and when more and more people want to get in the mining bussiness this is great to see more companies developing specialized miners so we don't have one company such as bitmain to be the only one to make hardware. I don't know if this is good to the mining hardware business because I'm sure that Intel will patent most of their invention. Remember when Intel and AMD fights out for dominance early to mid 2000's it was early and it really somewhat brought the industry to a standstill.

So I hope that this will really fuel competition and stop the monopoly of Bitmain as the sole distributor and mining hardware company, but on the other hand we need to see if this really bring good things to the ecosystem or might be detrimental as some point.

This could be the good news about bitcoin. Bitcoin should adapt and change some of its features like downloading the cryptocurrency after buying some of it. Due to time constraints on receiving bitcoin an investors will worry that possibilities of not receiving bitcoin after buying it. It take several minutes before you get the desired or bought btc online. So in accelerating those processes then bitcoin has also achieve improvement and it should be done also so that bitcoin will not be left behind by other cryptocurrency in terms of its features and access. The patent states that it provides a 35% boost in efficiency and speed. It is unclear whether this is on top of the 30% improvement that ASICBOOST is known to provide.
If the plans from Intel and Samsung to start producing Bitcoin hardware come true, we can expect a scenario where there'll be intense competition based on patented information. Gradually, they'll have to realize that the mining process and in turn their hardware, retains its importance only with a level playing field across the board.

A positive future possibility would be that all of these players eventually join the BDPL. Resulting improvement from their patents can solve the problem of excessive energy consumption to some extent. This will be an overall positive.

Also, if people at the biggest and richest chip companies are working on more efficient mining hardware, the future looks more secure than ever for bitcoin.

You know what would have been very cool, is if they could have build rigs with dual purposes. I have a gaming notebook with two GPUs. I use the Intel onboard GPU for daily use and then I switch to the more powerful Nvidia when I want to play games that require a more powerful GPU.

The motherboard manufacturers can build a board with two GPUs, one for daily use and one for Crypto currency mining. While the user is working, it use the one GPU for normal work and the other Crypto GPU/CPU for Crypto mining. <If you mine the right coin, it will pay for the electricity that are used for both tasks and even make some profit> 

It is reallya good news for the crypto industry. Hardware companies are understanding the demand and they are moving to manufacture as per demand. It will help the market with proper crypto supply

this is a good news for all of us. It is proving that cryptocurrency is the currency of the future. More and more companies that use cryptocurrency make cryptocurrency will still exist and interest many people. if like this I think there is no loss if from now we invest money our fiat to cryptocurrency.

it is a good chart and information on it but don't confuse the hashrate growth of these specific times with the fact that some companies are entering the mining hardware business. the rise in hashrate during these times is because of the rise in bitcoin price. it is a simple matter of profitability of mining which grew too big during December that price was shooting up towards $20k and that made a lot of new miners come in bitcoin. and the same way they are exiting now that price has gone down.

This is great, as a tech company they would understand how important Bitcoin is. They know that it can revolutionize the way we send money. I hope more giant companies create more hardware for Bitcoin so that supply will be more and making it more cheaper.
