What's up with this server maintainance thing going on. Has anyone heard? would of been nice to let their users know. Or at least post a time to expect back.

They did post the time and duration on the front page. It was orange and I seriously don't see how someone missed it.

Site mainteinance

We are running some maintenance operations, such as server upgrades.

In urgent situations, contact support at support@localbitcoins.com

They no longer have the duration up so I'm assuming they ran into a few problems. Maybe, you should contact them if you need to get online for something.

It was supposed to take around 60mins.

It was supposed to take around 60mins.

They posted an indication that they would be down for a few hours before the outage started.  If you didn't happen to be on the site during the 12 hours before the outage, there's no way you'd know it was coming.

The notice said that the outage would be 60 minutes.

The outage started exactly as scheduled, and at that time they no longer gave any indication of how long they'd be down.

Unfortunately, the outage lasted about 75 minutes longer than they had indicated (total 135 minutes instead of 60 minutes).

The site is back operational now.
