Does money make you happy?

Having money doesn't make me happy. But, being able to purchase food and drink with my money makes me happy.

Of course it does. Silly question.

I was asking myself this since I was 18.  

I had lots of luck in life.

I can tell you that money does not make you happy. It's super nice shopping or eating out without ever worrying about the price. . And always cover your friends.

Personal accomplishments is true happiness.
Sound health is true happiness.
Self-discipline is true happiness.

Anyone wealthy will say the same.

Happiness is free man! ;)

Having more than what I currently have will make me happier.

Money does not make happy but it really eases the life. Not to worry about how much spend and so on. Till some point. If you can have all you realistically need there is no additional benefit from excess money.

Money it self doesn't make me happy, but buying food with money does.

When you have an abundance of money you'll continue to crave more happiness. Lots of people turn drug addicts.

Try killing your worst bad habit or addiction. Money can't make that happen.  Good luck.

I see money as putting the food on the table. That's why I said it makes me happy.

Beyond covering the essentials, I've found that money just compounds whatever your nature is. Happy people are happier with more money, miserable people end up more miserable with more money.

Money, along with other things, make me happy. :)

money is now giving happiness because we must have this for food and all our necessaries without this we are nothing  ;)

Since you asked, I'll answer.

Money doesn't make people happy.  Material things don't make people happy.  People make people happy, you control your own happiness.

You control how you feel.

In the absence of money, could you make yourself happy?  Money won't last forever.

Have you asked squall if material things make him happy?  Because you took $10,000 of his money, used to to buy material goods to make yourself happy, and then screwed him with the bill.  How are you going to make him even?

This is a forum dedicated to currency, so yes I'm ecstatic.

There are some reasonable replies here and some absolutely stupid ones. I'm always boggled by the stupid replies.

If you're one of the ones making the stupid replies, then ask yourself this: what is money?

Ultimately happiness comes from within. That being said, money will make your life so much better. It can solve so many problems. If you are generally happy, then money will make you much happier. If you are unhappy though, I think money will just make you more miserable.

Not money itselves, but spending money makes me happy.

If I could quit my job and just do what I want to with my money without limitations because of worrying about running out of money. That would make me happy. I would be skydiving, skiing and other cool stuff.

Furthermore, it's important to see money is essentially nothing more than a deal between numerous parties.
It only exists because e.g. paying with a goat is impractical when you buy your groceries, so maybe 'Does abundance makes you happy' is a better question.

With money, I may choose to do things I really enjoy. Without, well I have to earn em - not much fun  ;)

Money doesn't make me happy. The things I can do with it make me happy. It puts the food on the table and pays for certain luxuries. So, my answer would have to be No it doesn't make me happy and I don't think it makes anyone happy. However, the things we can do with that money is what makes people happy.

Yes, money make you happy. This holds true for me because I lived for some time with bare minimum so I really appreciate money and know how hard is to live without money
