Title: Where to invest bitcoins
Post by: Kiki112 on November 04, 2013, 09:26:27 PM
I know I'm making too much topics, but I can't find a simillar one :D

So I'v gathered a bit less then 0.3BTC, is there a smart way to invest them in?

I was also wondering how safe is bitmit?
does it have some kind of a costumer protection?
what if I order a usb and get a brick  ;D

Be careful about investing them, there are a lot ways to lose them and only very few good investments.

With 0.3btc your best bet for getting rich is to "invest" in SatoshiDice ;)

Investing doesn't make sense with such sums, say you get 40%/year, it's still nothing

I was wondering does hardware pay off?
because I'v seen some usb block erupters sell for 0.07 BTC..

No. They wont give you any return on your money. Also dont listen to people telling you to gamble with it. Why would you throw away ~60 bucks?
40% return on your investment is still good even if its a few bucks. You could discuss about it not being worth the time and trouble but throwing away 60 bucks is nothing you should ever do.

Do not spend them or buy anything with them! Save them on a paper wallet and see what they are worth in five years. If us enthusiasts are right then they could be worth thousands of dollars. The best investment in the world for the last five years has been bitcoins. I believe it will also be the best investment for the next five.

I would love to. What allows you to send bitcoins from a Bitcoin account is something called a private key. This is basically just a large number. If you write this number down on a piece of paper or print it on paper, you have what we call a paper wallet. Then you save that piece of paper somewhere safe like in a safe or in a book (if you don't have a safe) or in your parent's safe or whatever. Then you can sell your bitcoins when you feel like it and you don't have to worry about backup or encryption or your computer being stolen. But you have to be able to keep that paper safe in order to keep your bitcoins.

Oh and btw. you have 300 mBTC, not 0.3 BTC. The first one sounds cooler, right?

Definitely invest carefully.

Honestly, with 0.3 BTC, I would probably just hold them and not invest them in any Bitcoin denominated stocks.

If you're truly interested in investing some bitcoin, I would recommend checking out cryptostocks.com there are all kinds of investments there. Be sure and do your research though, as there are all kinds of scams out there.

Like everyone said, try not to gamble or invest your bitcoins anywhere.  Investing usually is pretty dangerous in the bitcoin world, I would still consider them as gambling :P
Hold on to them, put em in a paper wallet, give it a few years.  Maybe the price will hit $1000 - $10000 you never know ;)

I invested a small amount in Just-Dice.  I really enjoyed it.  Basically it is the excitement of gambling with the security of the house edge.  Got hurt a little from time to time but overall did well.  You can start with as little as .01 BTC, may be worth checking it out.

Good Luck!

i'm investing in BTC by buying BTC and doing nothing with it haha.
I'm banking on the appreciation of the value of BTC.

Owning bitcoins IS an investment. In fact today I just sold off all my mining equipment on ebay (at a profit somehow...) and will just be reinvesting that money into purchasing bitcoins. It is somewhat debatable exactly how the inevitable increase in difficulty and the decrease in cost per Ghs (due to improving hardware) is going to affect the price of bitcoins, but holding onto hardware to mine with is definitely a losing proposition. A $100 piece of hardware might now be as fast as a $15 piece of hardware will be in 6 months, while due to the increase in difficulty the amount of bitcoins it will mine will steadily decrease until the cost of electricity to power it is more expensive than the bitcoins produced. The only thing I'll be keeping is a pretty powerful video card because it actually is useful for stuff besides coin mining. Even with that, a $300 card today is going to be as good as like a $100 card in a couple years.
