Title: Why was my account banned? Post by: JanVanHellsing on April 03, 2018, 02:41:34 PM Hi mods,
recently my account got banned, without a message or warning or anything else. Out of the blue. I thought this was a mistake and sent and email to the address in the message I received. There was no answer or any explanation and so I sent another email and again no response. There is absolutely nothing that I was doing wrong, I am not even doing signature campaigns. Please check the profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=508378 Thanks for looking into this. Title: Re: Why was my account banned? To me, this is an indication of an account theft attempt or this account was sold to you. In this case, an email is sent to the seller/victim notifying him that him email was changed. That email contains a link for him to lock the account. So the guy who sold you the account locked it afterwards and will now attempt to regain access to it. Title: Re: Why was my account banned? It has been locked because I changed the password? Since when is it against the forum rules to change password? It's even officially allowed to purchase accounts so why lock an account for that reason? I don't have this signed message that you referred to but I can tell you when I changed the password and also know the new and the old password. Also before I sent merit to a user who posted something inspiring in the politics section. Why would someone with sinister intentions do that? I also offered my help to other users to identify potential scammers. Please restore the account again, it is not compromised! What account are you talking about? They're not locked for merely changing the password but there could be a number of reasons for why it was locked. I can't do anything about it either way so you'll have to contact an admin about it. |
