Cybersecurity pioneer John McAfee has revealed that he charges $105,000 for a single tweet about cryptocurrency.Mr McAfee, founder of the eponymous security software, has turned his focus to cryptocurrency in recent years and is using his influence within the community to promote nascent ventures.A recent post to his McAfee Crypto Team website revealed the cost for any company to promote their product through his Twitter feed, and with 280 characters available it works out at $375 per character.

“I’m the only person in the crypto field that has openly divulged the outrageous amounts of money charged by crypto promoters,” McAfee tells The Independent.“It’s embarrassingly huge, but it’s true. I have been getting these fees for over six months. I decided to go public with it because I am an advisor to many of these companies and I know that I’m in the cross-hairs of the SEC [US Securities and Exchange Commission], so it is in my interests to prove transparency.”

Wow, I didn't know he was on the radar of the Feds (SEC) but I did read the article about him charging so much for promotion. Technically these are unregistered securities, so promoting them can get you into a lot of legal trouble with jail time.

I think it will hurt his business now that people know he's a paid shill ;D ;D ;D

Well its not a surprise. He owns a superstar status in terms of cryptocurrency just like any other hollywood actors, and its because of the no. of followers he has.

I'm not a fan of him, but the projects he is promoting is really getting a good attention, and its one of the factor in making an ICO successful.

That's a lot of money for a tweet but then again John McAfee boasts of one of the largest cryptocurrency bases with the most following and when he promotes your ICO, it always gets an enormous amount of recognition as people listen to him.

now i know why he's financially confident enough for running president in 2020 but nevermind, i hope he's just joking, oh wait, trump started it as joke also.

Nah it isnt true how could you give that much on just one tweet about him and his company? I will not believe on it unless if he really put this into bitcointalk forum and let us bounty hunters participate on the said promotion. But as of now that quantity about the reward is really unrealistic yet it could be interpreted that the project could give 100K USD for all the bounty participants who join on social media campaign and that makes it into possibilities.

At least he is honest about some of the pump and dump schemes on these tokens.  Crypto currencies is still an unregulated wild Wild West market. 

Well his tweets were working and it looked like most of the coins he promoted did actually pumped, so why not make money out of that? Though recently i think it's just all about making any coin that pays him be pumped by hypesters and supporters. Waiting for 2020 to see if he's going to eat sausages for real
