During the first convention, Bruce Wagner was able to convince a shopkeeper to take the stuff as payment. Later that night, somebody broke into the the shopkeeper's shop and stole all his stuff.

Respect, excellent, mister TMIBTCITW.

And here's Phin explaining his grandkids people already mined almost all bitcoins before they could even try. ;D
Mud is cool, though, and edible, most of the time!

Eventually, the big corporations took over, made it into an industry and started controlling the supply AND price of it.

Three cheers Phin!

This is an oddly parallel, funny too that an xbt is worth almost two tons of iron ore.

Here's a Quick vintage shot taken of Mark Karples (mt gox) astride his gym ball as he takes a little time out.

"There's bitcoins in them there hills, panning's a great way to relax and forget about work etc." says Mark

I was just wondering if Bitcoin mining has developed as Satoshi originally envisioned ?

I've read Satoshi's posts a few times over and he seems to like the idea of people using their rigs to replace electric heaters. Maybe he didn't expect this level of institutional/pool mining activity.

Come to think of it....Maybe he's making an altcoin at this VERY MOMENT and using a new handle? Hmmm?

Yeah, he knew that the larger entities would eventually supplant the hobbyist.  I'm pretty sure he even wrote about it in his introduction, or white paper.
