Yeah, they would. I wouldn't worry too much about it since anyone can ask for a password retrieval from anyone, you just need to click ''forgot password'' and type in any user which you can see in the members section.

However changing the pass on your email would be the safest bet. Just in case.

Yes. AFAIK you only need to input the account username to request a "password reminder", so your account is probably safe.

It might be a nice time to pause and make sure you have a recovery setup in case your or ANY account here ever gets hacked.  Have you posted/staked a BTC address that is signed and "married" to your account?  Remember that a stolen or hacked account can only be recovered using the Theymos approved method.   Don't assume it can't happen, many here have found out the hard way about this.  It takes a few minutes to cover your ass for IF something bad happens.   Otherwise you lose your hard fought for account and status.  Fair warning!

I did think about staking a BTC address, it was even the first thread I saw when I came to the meta section before I made this thread. Unfortunately I don't have any BTC at the moment, everything is in alt coins.

You can stake one of those addresses there. Someone will quote it for you anyway.

What I really don't get is the agenda. Why would somebody bother doing that, requesting a password change for an account in which they don't have access to the email. I  know they can't change it, so that's what has me wondering.

Just happened to me too.  Came here to delete my account because I don't use it anymore, but now it's getting interesting.

They tried to access my account from 177.142.193.235

Maybe he wasn't even trying to hack you or anything, he might have an account with a similar name and thought he forgot his password or maybe he has the list of all the emails and usernames that got stolen from here, who knows.

Yeah, I've been pawned before. I doubt it was a mistake entered. I can't imagine someone else with a similar name.

You do not need any bitcoin to sign a message. You can sign a message from an address with zero bitcoin.

Just download any mobile wallet with signing features and it´s done. I would do it now if I were you.

You just need to prove that own the address, not that you own a bitcoin.

Is there anyway possible to steal an account this way?

I logged on today because I just got an email from someone trying to change my password. This time from Peru. With IP address 190.232.4.251.

Better change your password and about the IP address just ignore because probably its using VPN/Tor.

Don't use Secret Question option otherwise you will lock your account.
 

Yeah, I assume they're not using their own IP address. And yeah, I should change my password, though I don't think I'm in danger of whoever these people are from getting it stolen.

if you insist on changing your password, do it from your profile and open the forum from your bookmark

that email probably sent by the hacker to trick you into opening phishing link/site
which effectively steal you password and account when you inputted your password
check the raw header on that email message, make sure it is originated from forum's domain name
