Title: BlockChain.info Total Received explanation?
Post by: Ford on November 06, 2013, 10:23:01 PM
Hi All

Can anyone explain why the "total received" for the below address is showing as 0.02 BTC?

https://blockchain.info/address/1Hds8m3vcMBjQzqbgzHK6TciYkQ745gkex

I have sent the address 2 transactions the first for 0.02 BTC and the second for 0.01 BTC

My maths gets this to 0.03 BTC

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT : Oops, you mean total received, not final balance...
Then just count how much this address received, in total ?  :)

ahh ok, so once the confirmed count increases (i assume >= 6) it will show 0.03 BTC?

THANKS

EDIT: yes = Total Received
I am totalling up what has been received, but it would be nice if bloackchain showed me the same ;D
Im trying to work out a payment conformation system, and am working on the scenario that someone paid too less, then makes a second payment for the remainder..... i am hoping to get the right total by getting the total and cross-referencing by adding up all received.....

Actually, no, because the total received amount for this address is 0.02 BTC.
The balance shows 0.01 because this address spent 0.01BTC, already.

Both the "Total received" and the "Final Balance" are right, here.

I am sure you are right, but are you sure  ;D

Im not too worried about the final balance, but i have definitely sent 0.03BTC to the address.

I have just done the same scenario to this address and all seems to show as i would expect

Thanks for the advice!!!! (as this is giving me a head ache now  :-\)

EDIT: or is this all caused due to me making transactions to myself...... (just as tests)

The green ones are incoming transactions.
The red ones are outgoing transactions.

Check again. ;)

It appears that you first sent 0,02 and then used this input in next transaction and the same address as change, that means that you sent 0,02 to 1Hds...ex and then used this 0,02 to sent 0,01 to 16b...nrp and 0,01 back to 1Hds..ex. Blockchain.info apparently won't add this sent back to same address to total received. Reusing sending address to act as a change address is not standard behaviour and makes you easier to track.
