Title: is it possible to import Armory wallet into any other wallet?
Post by: mikoslav on April 07, 2018, 08:41:10 AM
I mean I d like to use the 18 'words' (or more like :) 4 letter hashes)
which are the backup for my Armory wallet
in some other wallet. I believe this is "swiping"?

anyway, is it possible?
if yes - in what wallets.

if I am confusing the whole situation, please dont bash me :).

I need to do it to avoid a hard work of trying to move Bcash out of my, (now emptied of Bitcoin) prefork address wallet.

or I am too stupid to see some other easy way to do it.?

thank you for your patient answers... :)

Type or paste your English text here and click on the "Check Text" button.

Yes, its possible you can sweep or export private keys individually if what bitcoin address with balances that you can import into electrum or other wallets that accept private keys like mycelium or coinnomi wallet on mobile.

The seeds of the armory are different so it's not compatible with electrum so I suggest that you export the private key instead.

I stop using this wallet, but I found a guide how to get the private keys. Follow the step below

Quote
  • Open Armory
  • Double click on the wallet that contains the address you sent funds to
  • Double click on the address that you sent funds to
  • Click on "View Address Keys"
  • Enter your password and click Unlock

No, it isn't called "swiping"... and it isn't "sweeping" either. If you use a seed mnemonic from one wallet in another, it is called "importing" or "restoring".

No, you cannot use an Armory backup in any other wallet. Armory backup words are ONLY compatible with Armory wallet.

You would need to export your private keys from Armory and then "import" or "sweep" those using a Bitcoin Cash wallet like "Electron Cash" (https://electroncash.org/#download) or "Bitcoin ABC" (https://www.bitcoinabc.org/) or one of the BCH wallets here: https://www.bitcoincash.org/

To export your keys, you can use the following menu options in Armory:
- Wallet Properties
- Backup This Wallet

- Select "Export Keys List" (top left box)
- Click "Export Keys List" (bottom box)

- Select the following options: "Address String", "Private Key (Plain Base58)","Include Unused (Address Pool)"... and make sure "Omit spaces in key data" is checked

You'll end up with a list of all the addresses and private keys displayed in the text box. The private keys will be labelled as "Plain Base58"

You can then "import" or "sweep" those private keys using the BCH wallet of your choice.
