Title: Wheres the easiest place to buy bitcoins besides in person?
Post by: tmzn32 on November 08, 2013, 04:34:10 AM
I've tried Bitstamp, but for some reason the bank isnt listed on Bank of americas list and therefor cannot transfer.  I'm waiting for mtgox to verify me to see my options with them.  Any other quick websites I can buy without a limit?  I plan on buying approx $1k worth, and just sit on it.  It's still worth to get in right now right? these prices seem a little crazy high though....

Where are you located?  I'd be willing to sell you $1k worth.  I accept the following forms of payment:

1. Cash in Mail- You send me cash via Priority or Express mail. We lock in price and I release BTC when received.

2. U.S. postal money order in Mail - You purchase a U.S. postal money order and send it to me via First Class postage. We lock in price and I release BTC when received.

3. Western Union You send me money via Western Union for same day pickup at agent location, once picked up I release the BTC. Maximum $900 per day. Currently still available today $900.

4. MoneyGram You send me money via MoneyGram for same day pickup at agent location, once picked up I release the BTC. Maximum $900 per day. Currently still available today $900.

5. Greater Chicagoland area meetup We meet up and trade cash for my bitcoins. Travel fee of $0.50 per mile if I have to travel more than 10 miles to meet you.

6. Suggest other options I'm willing to consider other options that result in cash in my hands without first passing through my bank or PayPal.

Localbitcoins is global, though less popular in some areas than others.

You can create free account at another bank. About MtGox, you pay over spot and it is risky option imo

Personally I use Coinbase almost exclusive but I'm sure there might be other options available. I like Coinbase mostly because deposits and withdraws all happen into my checking account so I get those notifications sent to me by phone from my bank. Makes it real easy to see if they try to do something shady, but so far I've bought and sold probably $500 all together with no problems over a few months. Also I like that their site is fleshed out and looks semi-professional as well...

Man, I had a whole big response, but the forum wouldn't let me post as being an ultra-noob.

This is all assuming United States:

I just used https://cashintocoins.com/index.php yesterday to buy $40 worth (since 0 fee for $40 and under).  It's a simple process, you fill out their site with your email/public wallet key, and then make a CASH deposit at a local bank branch that they provide information for.   Send them a picture of your receipt via email, and in an hour or so, you have coins in your wallet.

I also want to look at www.bitquick.co and www.localbitcoins.com.

I made my first purchase with www.coinbase.com the other day, but it's not an instant purchase.  I have to wait 30 days from my first purchase for 'instant'.  Plus, I can't make a 2nd purchase until the first one is processed after 7 days.  This was all after I had to wait about 4 days for my bank account to be verified... So, better prices but it takes a while to actually BUY bitcoins.

I wold also recomend localbitcoins, as a total newbie to bitcoin I couldn't figure out how to buy at coinbase (you need to link a bank account) and was able to easily but there :).

If you are in the US you may want to consider BitQuick.co

Last week I made my first purchase using BitQuick.co (not bitquick.net) and it went well. I submitted a small order for about $10 worth of bitcoin to a seller who was accepting cash deposits into an account at a bank in my city. I went to the bank and deposited the cash. As directed, I then emailed a photo of the deposit receipt to BitQuick. About an hour or so later the bitcoin was released from escrow and appeared in my online wallet. I am happy. The entire process took about 3 hours. It probably would have gone quicker if I had gotten to the bank sooner. I am happy and I am planning to buy some more via BitQuick.co  :)
