Title: Looking for a better exchange: Bittrex and Poloniex?
Post by: Owen7021990 on April 10, 2018, 02:19:44 AM
In the world of cryptocurrency there are dozens of exchanges, but two of them are responsible for most of the altcoin daily trading volume. Bittrex and Poloniex are two of the top trading platforms in the market, let's check out their similarities and differences .

Both exchanges are highly valued and, of course, there exist inevitably complaints for both.

One of the most positive things is that they can exchange dozens of altcoins, not only the typical BTCs and ETHs, but also many emerging cryptos such as Litecoin, Ripple, Dash and GOLEM.

When it comes to Bittrex, you can trade using BTC, ETH and USDT.
-Poloniex has a slight advantage here as it allows transactions via XMR.

** About the support, both exchanges prove quite reliable.
In Poloniex, there is an easily accessible Q & A section and a contact page where you can quickly send a message when a problem occurs.
As to Bittrex, besides email support, Q & A section, they have a larger social networks including a Slack and Facebook page.
Both exchanges enable communication via Twitter.

** Bugs and hacks

Both of these platforms are almost equal in terms of bugs and hacks.

As to hacking, it is sometimes difficult for users to distinguish between fake and authenticated news, so there is no way to dig deeper and comment more. But one thing is for sure, most altcoin exchanges have been hacked in one way or another, and that is why you are recommended to move altcoins to your external wallet the sooner the better.

** Transaction fee

Poloniex offers competitive fees, which accounts for 0.15% for traders and 0.25% for buyers in case the trading volume is below 600 BTC. The bigger the trading volume is, the lower the fee is.

Bittrex's fee mechanisms are simpler: 0.25% commission for all. However, it is generally more expensive.

=> Rating
It's clear that these are two of the best places when it comes to trading a wide range of altcoins. After many surveys and evaluations, it seems easier to trade on Bittrex.

But it is just a general evaluation. How about you? What do you find the most appropriate cryptocurrency trading platform?

In my experience so far on Hitbtc not as bad as they think no problems so far recently i have seen various feedbacks on HITBTC's service but as to me it's not that bad I'm am currently handling my altcoins with ease. There's this other one that im testing it's called mercatox their trading site is quite good but their rates is not as good as bittrex though it's not that much of a difference.

I like to use Binance trading platform rather than Bittrex and Poloniex. But I think Bittrex is better known than Poloniex

I have used poloniex for quite some time and I can said that poloniex is a very good exchange platform. I have never trade with bittrex and I have some friends that has accounts with them and most of them do said that they prefer to used it compare to poloniex and I think they are saying this because of the large number of coins and tokens that are listed they.

Yeah it is very easy to send the ticket to them,
but the problem is,they did not reply the ticket as soon as possible.
they claimed that they got a thounsand tickets daily so they could not answer your question/problem as soon as possible.
in reality even though they got a thousand tickets daily, you will not get any reply from them if you do not send a back up ticket.
so that is why many people recommend you guys to trade it outside Poloniex.

exchange looks at large volumes, not in small quantities. in I see a malle because they must give everyone the chance to make profit even with $ 1

Now I'm not sure but last year when bitcoin prices were going up every day these exchanges was flooded with many new investors but these exchanges didn't increase their support staff and that's why many of these reputed exchanges was not answering any of the tickets we sent their support team. But recently it should be better because now Bitcoin prices came down and volume also quite less. I didn't send any tickets recently so not sure how fast they are answering these days.

I use mostly Bittrex and got a fully verified account and didn't face any major issues yet.

Bittrex just recently announce they are opening for new registration, the site also improve their UI to compete with big exchanges.
Now, the most popular is Binance but Bittrex is here for long and it's stable so it's worth a try as well.

Long time crypto trader;

-Actually Poloniex,Bittrex and Binance are all good exchanges.

However for some long time polo lag behind as it did not answer to customer tickets.
Fee wise Binance is number one, trade fee is %0.05. It is %20 of Bittrex's %0.25 fee.

Therefore if someone likes to trade a lot, for sure binance is the one to go.

I feel most of them have this issue and that even includes bittrex. There is always a lot of opened tickets anyway, so I would not blame them for not answering quickly, but compared to some other shitty exchanges that would not even bother replying at all, bittrex and poloniex, despite their large user baseare still trying all their best to always respond to most of these requests or tickets as soon as they can. Still, I have been using bittrex for almost a year now and I have never even had any reason to open a support ticket.

Poloniex has always been a very good platform but so far, I have always preferred bittrex and I have always preferred to stick with it.

A lot of people may have had their issues in the past which the only one I ended up seeing was locking people out until they were able to get their accounts verified but since they were operating under a law of the U.S government, which is understandable.

Binance too has been doing pretty good as well with volume, but too early to start judging compared to bittrex and poloniex that has been operating for a while now.

I leave Bittrex about a six month ago because fees and delay problem, I can't say about poloniex because never try it. Bittrex now have difficult rules about KYC and poloniex with their delay. My opinion is relative but maybe try another platform is good option. Try Binance, Livecoin or Hitntc, just try it and you'll know what is the best for you.

This. They've got a six month backlog. I guess it's fine if you are a patient person and don't need your money. For most people though, you are better off on other exchanges.

Avoid Poloniex until they fix their withdrawal glitches, and hire more people after Circle's acquisition is established.

I have already read many complaints about withdrawals not going through and that their customer support takes weeks to resolve those issues because they are short on workers.

They lost already a lot of trust and many people  had a terrible experience when their money was stuck, wonder if they ever will be able to win users trust back.

When the Poloniex-Circle integration began in late February, together we faced a backlog of 159,000 customer issues. Over the past 6 weeks, we have resolved 76,000 of those issues and added 6 new agents to our support team. We have tripled the number of engineers working on our wallet infrastructure and streamlined the process for notifying engineering when technical support is needed.

Currently I trade a lot on Bittrex because it has huge trading volume and many altcoin are traded on this Exchange. I also use Poloniex but in the past there was a lot of bad news about Exchange so I was not trading anymore. Bittrex also has very high security, and it also integrates tools to support technical analysis for traders.

these two exchanges are very good and very big, POLONIEX and BITREX are huge markets, the volume is very high, it possible to trade there will quickly get a profit, and also can quickly lose, but it has become our risk to trade, but now there is a new exchange that I think is also great is BINANCE I think it is also very good for us to trade in binance. I think the volume is also high.

They will. Circle's acquisition legitimized Poloniex as an altcoin exchange that can operate in a heavily SEC regulated environment. I believe no other altcoin exchange has approached the SEC to know where they stand and what they should legally do.

Start to trade on many partially decentralized exchange and if you don't know how to do it,  check YouTube videos for guidance.  Decentralized exchange is said to be future of trading.  Start using it now.
Sure, decentralized exchange is the future but the truth is we are not even close to it or there yet. It would change a lot of things though, but most people one way or the other would still find centralized exchanges to be a better spot for exchanging with respect to fees and some other few things.

I have been reading some news with binance starting some sort of decentralized exchange and I am seeing how this is going to play out as we move forward.

Avoid Poloniex until they fix their withdrawal glitches, and hire more people after Circle's acquisition is established.

I have already read many complaints about withdrawals not going through and that their customer support takes weeks to resolve those issues because they are short on workers.
Since then i am trading with poloniex and bittrex and i much prefer trading in poloniex because of a variety coins even some coins or tokens are not there so i trade in bittrex. Soon that poloniex have frequently experience bugs and error or hacking/ddos issues i luckily pullout all of my funds and now my friends are having the same problem as yours. Withdrawal is a big problem for everyone in need or hurry.

I have account with poloniex since 2016 and I have been using it infectively. Poloniex is far better than bittex to me because of the deposit experience I had with them last time. I have never have any problems with poloniex and all my deposit, purchase and withdrawal were prompt.

I used poloniex when first times i started crypto trading 2 years ago, iam very like use this exchange since acouple years because they has big volume transaction, and so far i dont have any issue about deposit and withdrawal. I still used it, but because they dont add new potential coins, i also used others exchange like Binance and Kucoin.

it is true that bittrex has a better platform and poloniex has a lower fee and all the rest but none of these makes them good choices to go to and trade.

poloniex is a big place which stopped giving proper customer support and you will have a terrible time on their platform and if you encounter any problems you wish you have never used them before.
bittrex became big and some day decided to scam a large number of their users so they selected them in groups based on risk of retaliation and scammed them all, such business is not trusted at all.

In my opinion, Binance is better than Bittrex and Poloniex. Both of them have got issues. On the other hand, Binance has grown tremendously over the past six months.

It is always like that. There is usually no problem until you experience problem and one day you open a topic and start telling us how you have gotten screwed with HitBTC. I really do not know why people always still stick with an exchange that have history of getting people screwed and then they keep consoling themselves with the idea that as long as it has not affected me, I do not care. As in for real ?

Always go and trade where the liquidity is.
And right this is Binance, if you want to trade many altcoins.
Poloniex and Bittrex have lost a lof of customers due to instability and lack of performance.
Poloniex once was THE altcoin exchange where we all were trading. Then we moved to Bittrex and they messed things up.
Now Binance is the exchange most like to stick around. Let's see if they keep continuing their good work. Traders aren't loyal to exchanges. It's all about customer service, performance and liquidity. And right now Binance is offering the best package.

My first trading site that I have used was Poloniex, although I still use them until now I limited my usage with this exchange site ever since their trollbox was taken down and when there was an issue but I still do have some coins left on the site. Next trading site that I’ve used was Biitrex and still am using until now for short term trading sometimes but for the last few months I have preferred using Hitbtc because I didn’t have any problems with them even depositing and withdrawing coins from this site.

That's true for now, but as soon as new hirings come in I believe we will see a "Poloniex Renaissance". :)

A US based exchange, fully regulated, and backed by Circle.

I'm in.

At Poloniex support service is very poor. I waited 3 weeks before they answered me. At Bittrex it took one, two days at most.

i like bittrex more , even better with the new ui update. i used to like polo but after they had a lot of problems with customer service i refuse to use them. although i read that they are bought by some bank , so maybe they will solve some of the problems they have.
At first, I did not actually feel the UI, but after a while when I had to quickly get used to it, I am beginning to fall a bit in love with it except for the dark interphase which cannot be changed fully to light. If they can make that work, I feel it should be a good one to go. I have always loved bittrex, except that I always like trading in one spot which is the main reason why I have been using external trading platform with my API, but all in all, for a lot of reasons, bittrex always is better than poloniex, until poloniex finally end up getting it right.

I like poloniex when it comes in simplicity and user friendly specialy in mobile trader like me but the problem is there is only a few coins in there and there is a limit also in withdrawal which too small if you are a big trader. But if you are just a small time trader like me then maybe poloniex is good for your but if you like more choices of coins just go to bittrex they are plenty of coins there for choices to trade.

There are number of trading exchanges and that every trading exchange has its own specifications and characteristics. However, when it comes to bittrex trading exchange then you will hardly find any other trading exchange which is having that much qualities as is of bittrex trading exchange. It is the best of the best option and that it will never make you worried in any way.

Waiting already 23 days for a missing XEM deposit I did send from Binance to Poloniex, until now I am still waiting for support that will credit mine account. In there last public statement they said that they had a huge backlog of open support tickets. That is just the problem with most of the exchanges these days and poloniex just keep getting worst with the whole withdrawal and deposit problem which is one thing I have never experienced with bittrex and such things can be terribly annoying, considering how not being able to do anything and then having hard time to get support to handle your request just makes the whole idea of using poloniex tiring. I would still always choose bittrex or binance as a better option.

I use both exchanges. Overall, my experience pretty similar, all crypto exchanges had troubles with support and withdrawals during intense periods. Nonetheless, as I remember, I had more difficulties with Poloniex. In 2017 it was almost impossible to approve your account on Poloniex, it took me like two months to get a response from the support.

Recap of latest news on each:

Bittrex recently changed the interface to more advanced and rolled out a beta version of new API. The registration on Bittrex was closed for a long time, and now they seem to be opening it again. It appears that they had problems with too big client base, and now they have expended their capacity. Based on the above, we can assume that Bitrex does not plan to go away:)

Payment provider  Circle has announced about acquiring Poloniex in February. Also, Poloniex signed an agreement with TradingVIew(great service for traders and analytics), and now you can connect your Poloniex account and trade through TradingView interface. So, they are developing as well.

Important, for me, differences:

Commissions:
  • Bittrex has 0.25% commission regardless of maker or taker orders.
  • Poloniex has 0.15% for maker and 0.25% taker fee.

Minimal trading volume:
  • Bittrex - 0.0005 BTC (or equivalent in other coins).
  • Poloniex - 0.0002 BTC (or equivalent in other coins).

Back to the years on where poloniex do get its reputation into its service but now it is already slowly fading even myself gradually losing interest on using up the site because of such issue.Even though bittrex do have some issues but not as worse on where poloniex is experiencing now.It would really be quiet hassle to use up exchange when delay is happening every now and then and thats the reason why i do jump in Kucoin or Binance as of this moment, maybe i will comeback when they do already fixed their issues.

As for me, I would choose none. I have used Brittrex and Poloniex and have lost interest in the two of them. Normal, Bittrex used to be one of my favorite, but since last year after the issue they had with their  users, I have declined from using it.  As for Poloniex, it's not as if they have done something  wrong or so, but I don't  really fancy them that much. I am presently using Binance, it's just what I want.

Bittrex was one of the best exchanges more than months ago, but it seems that Binance and Kucoin are much more better than this one at this moment.

It is not because i am a fan of it, but i think that Kucoin and binance have better fees and a better interface

Each floor has its own advantages, both are OK
Every exchange has its own advantages and disadvantages but all you need is to be active and monitor the market value so that you would be able to take decisions of buying and selling and in which coin you are finding the maximum possibilities of getting the most profit. Bittrexx and poloniex both are good but you can also try coinbase. Learn something how to trade and then enter into trading you will slowly slowly make your skills.
I think it iis goood to try it both first then in what exchangge do you feel you are safe and comfortable to trade then go to that exchange..
Just lie you both says they have its own advantage and disadvantages and for me in that i use to be flexible in any exchange where i have a good feeling to trade on.

It seems the problem with poloniex just keeps getting huge each and every day with a lot of the users complaining.
I feel we are still not getting it though as most of the exchanges are still trying hard to be able to compete in the real world and most especially in the area of support, I have not really seen an exchange that gives me that chill except for those with lower user base though. Bittrex to me is still a lot better than poloniex even bittrex allowed me to withdraw after I have submitted couple of my identification documents.

I liked using Poloniex for a long time but 2 things made me stop using them. First they disabled their online chat, then they started having complaints about their customer support.

I switched to Bitfinex and like that exchange but they stopped allowing US customers, so I had to switch again.

Now I’m using Binance and it seems to be going well so far. I like that they pay Gas for Neo holdings and they will handle the Eos token swap for customers.

I'm using hitbtc, and I don't have any problem regarding this exchange. It is all smooth. I believe that this exchange could match binance if the volume of coins will go up. People are just trading in big volumes because they know for a fact that big volume exchange will make their coin's price go up.

I have rarely traded much on poloniex as the first time I used it, I just did not get that good vibe from the exchange at all, asides the fact that a lot of people have always complained about the wallet issues based on deposits and withdrawals. For bittrex though, it has always been my number 1 exchange even though and they are always trying as much as possible to get it right and stay on top of their game which is good enough for me.
