Title: Announcement from Dwolla CEO on Blog (today)
Post by: delson on July 30, 2011, 03:31:17 AM
http://www.dwolla.org/blog/weve-got-some-cool-communications-tools-in-the-works-and-its-all-because-of-our-customers/

From the CEO...addressing future changes and current situation with "chargebacks". It looked recent, so I posted (didn't see it anywhere else in this forum, so remove if it is a double post).

Sounds like a bunch of crap.  Dwolla needs to take responsibility and not think they can pass the risk on to their merchants.  They want to be the online equivalent to a cash transaction but only if there are no problems.

You can't state the following "When sending and receiving money, you will never share personal information with other users." and then expect the merchant to bear the risk as the merchant has no idea who they are doing a transaction with, Dwolla does.

RIP Dwolla

Okay, I don't understand. Jack deposits money in his Dwolla account. Then Jack transfers money to me. While Jack can reverse his transfer into his Dwolla account, how can there be a "bank level return" on the transaction from Dwolla to me?

Say Jack puts $50 into his Dwolla account with 5 transactions and sends $5 to each of ten people. If one of those deposits into Jack's Dwolla account is reversed as unauthorized, what bank does a "bank level return" on any of his ten $5 sends? Since those sends came from a Dwolla account, how can they be reversed unless Dwolla says they were unauthorized by Dwolla?

As I understand it, Dwolla does not do direct customer-to-customer transactions. You always fund a Dwolla account and then send Dwolla money to someone else. Unless I'm misunderstanding how Dwolla works, this explanation is nonsensical.

It's very simple really...Dwolla is selling something they can't deliver.

Dwolla's arrogance and refusing to acknowledge bitcoin is killing me.  The title speaks for itself, "We’ve got some cool communications tools in the works and it’s all because of our customers".

I think it's kind of like burning the candle at both ends, they seem to be burning clients on both ends of a transaction.

End result they keep all the cash.

"We have to build communication tools because we don't have a clue how to communicate."

Dear non forum members who are reading this:

There are a lot of trolls on this forum.  Smalleyster is not one of them.  Smalleyster is a respected member of this forum, known more for thoughtful contributions than anything else. When he uses sarcasm to mock someone, they damn well deserve it.

My point: Dwolla, you've lost the bitcoin people.  You've mishandled this whole situation.  You may not think we matter, but I beg to differ.  Good luck without us.

So at this point, what advantage does Dwolla have over any other bank transfer?

They've got a 'w' in their name. Everybody loves 'w'.

Also, they uh...

... actually, I think that was it.

What a scumbag, all he had to do was admit they started a business without having any idea what a chargeback was... then whamo it happens and they pretend like they told all their customers about it all along.

He is exactly what I detest most in slimy businessmen.

I think we should forget about all this mess and leave it all behind. Dwolla is not good for bitcoin and that should be the end of story.
