Title: Sell or Keep the Jalapeno Butterfly Asic
Post by: toben on November 10, 2013, 03:46:45 PM
Hello,

My Jalapeno finally arrived and is cranking out at 8.4 GH/s.

Last week when the price was at $200 bitcoin I was definitely going to sell on ebay, but now that we are hitting $400 and difficulty started leveling off, I am reconsidering.

I purchased my unit for $274 and I think I am minting @ $3 a day.

I could get $375 on ebay for a 1 day old jalapeno. - Opinions? Links to calculate keep or sell?

Thanks

btw, I'm getting about $3/day at 12GH/s, so you're getting about $2.20 USD before power costs.

Me?  I'd sell it, you can do better with the $375 than 8.4 GH/s.

I had a jalapeno before when bitcoins were ~$200 but tbh the price is decreasing again now and with the difficulty increases it isnt worth keeping. sell it on ebay :)

Sell it if you can manage to!

OK I sold it on ebay. I got $368 for it.

My plan is to buy one back in a few months when the price collapses.

I know this might be silly advice but money which u got for it put in place like cex
With 10gh u will make arround 0,.25btc a month.
Still good and once u had enough sell it back to market.

I would agree - sign up at cex.io rather than buying the mining equipment on ebay.

Yeah you're probably better off selling it.

Great job selling it!. Jan and Feb we are going to see 50% increases to hashing difficulty when the big boys 1200 GH/s and 2000 GH/s miners start getting plugged in.

Yeah that's IF they ship ontime, which no company has been able to reliably do.  KNC with the best credentials for creating FPGA/ASIC system on chip solutions still had setbacks for 7-10 days.

Better than a setback of 7-10 months...

I'm happy with my business with KNC.

Sell it while mining. The selling price is way better then what you will get back for the lifetime of the machine..
