Title: sent BTC to myself, never received them ... WTF Post by: gohupvid on November 10, 2013, 04:51:32 PM I have a problem with my bitcoins, this is probably a noob mistake with an easy answer.
- I bought some bitcoins (let's say I bought 1 BTC) locally via Localbitcoins.com. The transfer was successful, the 1BTC shows up in my Localbitcoins wallet. - I downloaded MultiBit, I made the first wallet, let's call it Wallet1. - I copied, pasted Wallet1 address into the Localbitcoins.com wallet interface. - Sent 0.0015 BTC to that address (as a test). - A few minutes later it showed up in my MultiBit wallet. Success! - I made a new wallet in MultiBit, call it Wallet2. - I copied, pasted Wallet2 address to Localbitcoins. Sent the remainder, 0.9996 BTC - Waited 12 hours and no BTC appeared in Wallet2. Localbitcoin transaction history says it was sent. The BTC are gone, my Localbitcoin balance went to 0.00. But no BTC have been received in Wallet2, it also says 0.00 balance. I have doublechecked that I sent them to the correct address by comparing the Sent-to address in Localbitcoins against the address in my local Wallet2 address and they are the same. Did I explode my bitcoins or what happened here? Title: Re: sent BTC to myself, never received them ... WTF Post by: escrow.ms on November 10, 2013, 04:53:15 PM what was the second bitcoin address ?

I had a bad experience with MultiBit, some outgoing transactions not broadcasted, some incoming didn't appear. So I've changed my wallet to bitcoin-qt. Out of interest, what made you decide to create a 2nd wallet in Multibit, when the one that you tested a transaction on was the first?, surely it would have made more sense to send the rest to the same wallet and address you'd already tested?!. |
