However in container shipping industry, client does not require to pay upfront in order to ship a cargo. As a result, they sometimes will not show up since there is no penalty. Carriers also aware of the situation and thus they overbook the ship in order not to sail with empty boxes. TEU tokens act as booking collateral. The ecosystem is built on top of the existing booking systems of carrier. We cross reference the booking reference to link the shipment with the collateral in our system.
