When one of the fiat currencies listed below is used to purchase BTC on any of the bitcoin markets (MT.GOX, BITSTAMP, BTCChina, Bit2c) a bitcoin is sent from the currency counter in red to the country on the map. But I wonder why they didn't include BTC-E? It's one of the biggest exchanges, and it would probably show a lot of European activity, since it's based in Russia.

Transactions are 2-legged: every buy is a sell. Every BTC is at the same bought and sold. The buyer buys BTC and sells fiat. The seller sells BTC and buys fiat.
