As you all know, Ethereum is the coin only for smart contract. However, there is still NEO, Waves, EOS, Stellar, Achain, and soon maybe Rebellious, XAS... ETH is not a coin for invest, the only reason it was high because ETH's competitors still in develop and not popular yet. Litecoin, otherwise, is actually a younger brother of BTC, and Bitcoin Cash and it is accepted by the huge community.
So in the future, I strongly believe, ETH will be taken place by LITECOIN.

Is not Bitcoin holding on now on the same demand or as you said on trust and popularity. After all, we can also assume that the ether is able to at least reach the level of bitcoin and this is no longer seen as not real. Nobody argues that there are coins that are more effective than the ether, but they can not jump above their heads without innovations.

No possibility. In the Cryptocurrency world the most popular coin in the mean time is Bitcoin and next popular currency is Ethereum. Bitcoin is king and Ethereum is heroine and Litecoin is soldiers.

Litecoin is silver as the bitcoin is gold. This means that both of them can provide good income to their investors. I'm not sure if litecoin is better than ethereum. Eth is very popular especially with ICOs. But even popularity doesn't mean that it can beat others in giving good earnings.

I think ETH is better than Litecoin.  And if you invest in ETH, then you will get a profit faster.

These coins have different functions. And I wouldn't say Ethereum is a bad choice for investment.

Actually, it's quite different. Trust is built on a lot of factors, and the community can still go the wrong way with their faith, because of profit. ETH seem like got a better price currently, however, you can see ETH's competitors growing strong. Try to ask yourself this question, if there is another project using NEO with lower fee (such as gas), and a promising future, will you invest it. Of course you will and if the company start using others (like EOS, Waves, Neo, etc.) and what do you think about ETH. Of course there is still company using ETH, but at that time, game changes. But most of company still accept BTC and LTC.

I am in favour of Ethereum though eth was never developed as a currency.
Both are entirely different in functions. If you are comparing then in terms.of return on investment, ether has given far better.

I believe once team like Raiden Network will be able to make ether lighting fast, eth will become unbeatable.

$BTC  is  every where and its most probably the first and primary currency. But with  the recent increase of Litecoin which is 4x value against the $BTC  I strongly believe that $LTC will continue to outperform $BTCC 2018.

What I hear a lot from many people - Litecoin is a cheap version of bitcoin, and that is why many people don’t take it seriously. Ethereum on the other side is a very strong and powerful project.

In terms of investment it’s hard to predict which one will grow faster. I personally have both in my portfolio.

nothing is impossible and no one knows for sure how the litecoin later. but I think that would be a tight competition for the bitcoin fixed ethereum. for the long term, I think this coin could grow larger.

But one thing you need to be aware of is that Litecoin's current position is very strange.
Because its technology is not particularly good, I am not optimistic.

I think LITECOIN couldn't take the place of ETH. because ETH have 2rd ranked in crypto and popular than LITECOIN.

ETH or LITECOIN in my opinion are both good. Yes, most likely litecoin will overtake ethereum, although litecoins are very slowly progressing, but it has reminded us that litecoin is worth calculating in the future, I'm sure litecoin will co-exist with bitcoin in the future.

ETH has too many problems waiting to get solved (which probably won't get solved at all) while Litecoin has almost none.

*Dev team refuses to take action against the ASICs which created a huge dissatisfaction among the GPU miners who were the most hardcore shills of ETH since the beginning. Now they have to make business with Bitmain shills over GPU shills. Less shills shilling your product = You lose market share. ETH is going to lose market share. This is not just because the Devs have chosen some party over another btw. The ETH whitepaper clearly stated that their algo was ASICs resistant and it really was. GPU miners thought devs would protect their ass in case ASICs show up. They were wrong. They are cheated.

*ETH has no hard cap on max supply. Basically the amoount of ETH can exist is infinite. It is still unclear if they will introduce hardcap or not in the future. I am not saying hard cap is a good thing or not, it is just another uncertainty. It simply screams: They don't know what they are doing.

*Too many ICO's on the same platform which has a CEO who can fork the project at any time if he isn't pleased with "something". Investors should know, there was a "DAO incident" before And DAO itself only executed the code. There was no hack but Vitalik forked the chain without a second notice. He can erase all your funds and kick you from his chain. This project is as centralized as US Dollars.

Tldr; Litecoin shits on Ethereum.

Litecoin is a coppy of Bitcoin and didnt have any ecosytem to make profit. ETH is Open source code with any dev, they can create their ICO and collect fund to grow blockchain crypto world, Ethereum always Queen and no one can defeat it. I also waiting ETH become the KING of crypto one day

Charlie Lee the founder of Litecoin has left with selling and donating all his coins. Though he clarified that he's not leaving it, it's the same when he has no value associated with the project. Litecoin is a dying coin now.

He sold his coins because he wanted to have no influence over the Litecoin network. Just like Satoshi went missing to accomplish the same thing. We can't say the same thing for ETH. Vitalik has a huge chunk of ETH in his bag and he has the power to fork the chain and kick anyone out whenever he wants.

To me, It is ETH who is dying. LTC was here long before ETH and will be here even after ETH. Cardano, NEO, EOS are coming and one of these will replace Eth soon.

The op doesn't sound too reasonable to me. Even though there are various platform, ethereum is still the most famous and trusted one. Why? Because it was the first of its kind, just like bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency, IOTA is the first coin with non-blockchain tech. These kinds of things turn out to be important in the world of cryptocurrencies. Litecoin doesn't offer anything new in comparison with bitcoin, but it is the first clone of bitcoin and even this matters.
Yet litecoin is not innovative enough to build a top platform. That's why I don't think this will ever be the case.

I don't think that litecoin can overtake Ethereum. Litecoin has no special feature of to make it happen. What I am seeing is that other altcoin will overtake Litecoin in competition with Ethereum.

They are good for investment. Depends on your curiosity how about save your money on XEM? could you guy buy this underrated coin. Well, going back on both coins i'm holding alot of Ethereum and willing to buy more on Litecoin as well. It's just my opinion. Disclaimer: Invest your money that you can afford to lose.

I think there is no special features in litecoin to invest than bitcoin and I will see that many others coins will overtake litecoin and it doesn't offer anything new in market this is the reason not to invest in litecoin.

I think ETH will be the crypto of the future, replacing the BTC and becoming the number one cryptocurrency markets. Litecoin after the move to the moon last month, the current exchange rate is low. According to experts, the BTC will not be the currency of the future because it is considered by others to be an asset rather than a demand for trading as a unit of currency. So I think LTC will be the same.

i think too. i think the best coin after btc is eth. many ico who believe in eth to invest in that project. from this i think eth circulation will be bigger, so it will increase stability of this coin

I think but behind that's all doesn't mean litecoin will weaken and helpless to be defeated by other coins under it, I think litecoin will still be popular among many people in various activities and this will not mean that this coin is not worth for investing, it would be still feasible because I think there will still be many people who stay close to this coin, maybe even will come certain support on this coin.

Litecoin and Ethereum both are trusted platform but peoples are always believe in Ethereum project so Ethereum is occupy the many consumer. I think Bitcoin is the best profitable platform so I don't think Litecoin and Ethereum investment. But we should invest in long term both are the best secure investment.

If you talk about the benefits of investing, this is possible. You think ETH prices are too high, but I do not think so. ETH can still increase and will reach new ATH in the future. ETH popular and more used, BTC is king and ETH is queen so LTC will never cross the position of ETH.

i think words about to say lite coin is better then ethereum will be not comfortable because btc price fluctuating and we can see there other coins also fluctuating so you can see and after btc there is value will be that is ethereum only con not be replace so there is no chance litecoin will be better then btc.

If such coins may be trading for eos, waves, neo is better compared to the eth. I see the movement of coins they are always up to date. and it's very nice for sale to benefit while it may just get a little lucky. but I think it was very good compared to no price movement up to selling. as we see the eth coins according to me better for investment compared to trading, because the price of eth still on the brink of anxiety, and coins eth very quickly drop drastically when compared with January 2018. Maybe we should continue to see and monitor the movement of the coins on the stock sale.

I see the ETH's contract-based infrastructure as something incredibly disruptive. Ethereum, which is used to build decentralized services, “dapps” (decentralized apps) has been changing and revolutionizing a lot of things. Ethereum, in my opinion, is a great long-term investment.

LTC is at more consolidated development stage, and it's also very good for transactions, having (compared to BTC) cheaper transaction fees, accepted almost in every exchanges, fast transaction time. Apart from that, I can not really see how to use it for anything else.

Litecoin was invented as a modern alternative to bitcoin, no wonder you think so. But then again, why nobody believes in Ethereum. It is more modern and easier to upgrade its system, if the same bitcoin.

I still see the development of Litecoin not too increased. if to say that Litecoin is better than Ethereum, I can not yet. but I am sure Litecoin will increase in the future.

Considering present, past and prospective options and forecast, Ethereum is far better than litecoin, more total cap, more hodlers, lots of prospect and i can assure you that waves, neo will always be behind ETH due to their global acceptance and acknowledgement regarding icos thereabout.

It is true that Litecoin is in the market for a longer period of time and it is one of the stable coins in the market and i do not see a break out performance from this coin even in the long run, their development with litepay was interesting and it all depends upon how the market is adapting these developments, if major companies starts accepting litecoin, sure the image will change all of a sudden.

So what features and potential could make the litecoin better than ETH? like the op said ETH has smart contracts but other coins that you've mentioned can bring better experience when dealing with ICO's and projects so those crypto have more rights to be a candidate for the next eth, however, eth gained so more popularity and community throughout its time on the market, ethereum has its own downfall but to earn the top 2 spot next to bitcoin is not that easy.

We know many people have dogma like Bitcoin is gold and Litecoin is silver. Many professional traders said Litecoin will follow and mimicking Bitcoin market but the truth is Litecoin hasn't made any tremendous spike in term of Bitcoin increasing value. I'm sure soon Litecoin price will make a new all-time high.

About Bitcoin Cash, I doubt it accepted by the community, it still has a lot of controversy in the cryptocurrencies scene. I believe cryptocurrencies scene community is hating Bitcoin Cash instead of support its existence.

Ethereum is far better than Litecoin. ICO uses ethereum for purchase of token and there will still high demand for ethereum  most recent token are build on the etheruem block, because of this ethereum will moon than Litecoin.
