Tim Draper has thrown a cryptocurrency celebration on Thursday, called Blockparty, not to be confused with British indie rock band Bloc Party. The party poster, which was placed in front of his entrepreneurship program, Draper University, made a bold statement: “Tim Draper Predicts Bitcoin @ 250K By 2022”.

The billionaire investor has bought 30,000 Bitcoin in a US Marshals auction in 2014. That amount of cryptocurrency is currently worth about $240 million. If his prediction turns out to be correct, Tim Draper can expect his Bitcoin portfolio to be valued at $7.5 billion by 2022. Draper has said that he will never sell it in exchange for fiat money: “That’s like saying I’m going to take the present and future and turn it into the past. I’m not an antique buyer”, he told documentarian Sharad Kharé in a recent interview.

He announced on Twitter the bold prediction, but a typo jittered his social media following: “Serious winds (of change) at our block (chain) party last night. Predicting bitcoin at $25k by 2022”, he first wrote before correcting the number by adding an extra zero to the future bitcoin price. “Oops! I predicted $250k in 2022. My tweet last night was missing a zero. $250k is the number!”

I agree with BTC going to 250.000$, with one adjustment - BTC + Bitcoin Cash = 250.000$, this is more accurate.

Thats a good share but I hope Tim Darper do not end up dumping his own BTC holdings as Mt. Gox did and then flooded the market with FUD's.  :-\ These people are mood swinger and sometimes I feel they like playing with the money games.  :D

However, this is good news as it is something that will support the people across the globe to know there are still big investors out there to keep the faith in BTC.  ;D Sometimes I feel that this should be published like fire on the social media just the way they do when negative news comes in.

Just observe who bought Bitcoin recently (Soros, Rothschild,...). Then ask yourself - why. Or/and before that, ask yourself - do those guys usually loose or earn a lot of money?

I think Tim's prediction will come true after a huge correction about 3 month i think the Crypto Market is now ready to explode like that of 2017 and espacially in the end of 2017 was a tremandous bounce of alts and also the Bitcoin and Ceo of Litecoin has predicted to reach Bitcoin to 40000$ by the end of 2018.

This is an interesting article, but it is only the assumption of some or other people about the price of BTC, can not be forgotten in advance because it is not clear what different countries can enter

everyone hopes the best for btc and wants the price to go up and very high in the future. technological developments continue to happen and we want real change and blockchain is the answer. if in the future many countries adopt it, then crypto will explode and $250k is a reasonable price to be achieved by bitcoin.

I like when people are optimistic about bitcoin or cryptocurrencies it gave me another hope to invest more in the cryptocurrency but i think many expert are optimistic about bitcoin and alternative coin out there.

we all know that bitcoin has a lot of potential and being without competition means all the money will go into bitcoin eventually even if it travels into altcoin market to be doubled before coming out.

To be honest, I think Bitcoin at $250,000 sounds crazy at the moment. But who knows? When Bitcoin was < $1,000, hearing prediction that Bitcoin could reach $10,000 was also deemed crazy. Nevertheless, I will be very happy if Bitcoin ever reach that level though.

Anyway i read also your post and it says about bitcoin speculation that could possibly hit in that amount which 250K USD? Wow that is a lot money there anyway bitcoin investment will not matter on the price per btc. The bitcoin earnings or profit will determine on the money you invested with bitcoin so meaning the more money you invest in bitcoin the huge or bigger amount of profit you will get if you know how to invest in bitcoin properly. Thus, speculation will relatively not going to happen since investors now are sitting aside waiting for the right time to invest in it. And if ever they will going to invest at all at once then that 250K USD will probably will not be able to get that speculation price because that is too much or that is too great to achieve. well it is not impossible also to happen.

Bitcoin recently is filled with so much speculation of price and nobody knows where price is even going. I'm not really expecting a surprise increase but a step by step move.

He is trying to hype his coin to sell them at ATH... Look at the price of SpaceChain. He is an angel investor of this project. The price is only decreasing.

I think it can really go up to that price point in 2022. Tim Draper is actually doing the right thing and I can see that he knows what he is doing. I hope this speculation go close to the expected price because I am also planning to invest more in bitcoin. And also, $250k can increase more especially when bitcoin gets a lot of support from different countries, banks, or private institutions aiming to develop cryptocurrencies.

It was recently reported that he is charging money to mention crypto projects on his Twitter handle. So his intentions on making positive statements about crypto are quite clear now. I suggest people not to fall for the advice being given by so called experts.

Anyone can put forward what price they think,or hope, their coin holding will be in the future. The problem is being able to prove it will happen.

While i think this price will be outrageous, it is not impossible as with the BTC, nothing is impossible. It is okay to dream right? It's very optimistic guess with no bases. The first target of BTC is pass over the last ATH (around 20k) before it can hit another target. They just said that to dump BTC to you and other believe in it  ;D

I am rather skeptical about predictions for a long period of time. 25 years. Are you seriously? Perhaps in a few years, there will be a breakthrough in technology. Perhaps there will be a new round of development in some important area. Perhaps another currency will become popular for calculations. Who knows? I do not know what will happen tomorrow.

Experts always give such predictions! BUt the reality is that right now BTC costs $ 6,300 and nobody can say what will be in the end of the summer or 2018 year. Also without institutional money we won't see such prices...

That's a huge price to be achieved. We can't say whether BTC will reach that price or not because of the issues it is facing right now. I wonder why and how do these big people predict something so volatile in nature to attain such attention from people. If at all this happens then it will at least take a few years easily for BTC to get till that price.  I feel the big whales just make these statements to manipulate the price of BTC. That's a huge number though it's attainable but for sure its not happening anytime this year, I'm a huge bitcoin fan but I dont see any basis or reason for the price rally of that amount.

All that forecast are just FOMO. 200k is too expensive. Noone will be able to buy it. But maybe leverage is the solution?

What kind of experts did you mean ? Everyone can predict bitcoin price, but their prediction won't hit easily because crypto is very hard to predict, too volatile in the market. Bitcoin price maybe drop in this year, you wont know the future. The best thing we can do is buy when low, sell when high.

I am a great supporter of btc and eth but as of now we do not see strong momentum in the market for bulls to take over although they can be back anytime but as of now they do not seem powerful, im expecting that later this month we might see some big action and positive movement in the market.

250k is only possible in very long horizons after after mining become so difficult that is will not be profitable at all, I guess this heights cannot occur sooner than in 10 years.

2021 I suspect will actually be a very "trying" year. There are numerous things which I think will occur in 2021, which may harm Bitcoin, namely an 'overly optimistic' bull run - And other factors.

Crypto will ultra explode 2021, but say BTC gets to $100k in 2020. That's $1 Trillion per year spent on Hash Security, or $2.5 Billion daily needing to be funneled into Bitcoin to simply maintain, let alone grow.

I don't think this thing will happen in 2022 year. Bitcoin need more time to accumulate, base on its price chart. But all everything can happen, no one knows what will happen. Because this market can be overturned by which any one mighty power

$250.000 by 2022 sounds realistic to me. Although i would say that it would be an inflated price and it would probably dip below that for a while after it has been reached.

In other words; i expect $250.000 to be reached in 4 years but it will be during a bubble... not an actual fair value price.

I find off-putting that making an attempt to direct the market in this way, by the fact such people who are qualified, have a strong/bright career and who are full of successes on CV. They are damaging their reputation with this predictions in order to make profit from the cryptocurrencies in their hands. I think it's an unreasonable and on shaky ground his estimation. It is going to happen but it is a matter of time and also a matter of how much patience you have as an investor because we will get there but it will most likely take years for us to get to such a price. I would not be surprised to see Bitcoin over a million.  Al it would take it the USD to collapse and Bitcoin would rise.  I also believe it can reach these highs without a dollar collapse as well.  The momentum and hype Bitcoin is gaining makes me think the big boys are now on board. 

I think this is unlikely in the near future. Recent market has not been prominent and no signs of recovery.

we cant be sure for now if this news is really true or not. and even if its true , theres still a big chance that the value wont go well as expected because theres also a lot of factors that can affect the price . some examples are fuds , manipulation caused by sharks and whales , speculations , good/bad news ,  demand/supply , etc . all of them can have a good and bad effect on the price of bitcoin and that makes it even hard to predict the exact amount that bitcoin can reach .

I think 250k is low to be honest.  With the declining value of the USD combined with the increasing value of crypto currency I don't see how it couldn't surpass 250k.  I think we will get to that price somewhat quickly to be honest.
