Lets clear through the newbie time zone.  Tell about yourself, how did you get into bitcoins?

Two weeks ago read in a local newspaper about the guy who bought 5000 BTC for $22 in 2009 and got rich.

and how many you bought coins?

I read artice how a guy buyed million dollar pizza and got interested. It was 10.000 BTC and at the time of the article USD/BTC was around 100  :)

I've been going to many cyber fraud cyber fraud conferences and Bitcoins keep coming up as main point of discussion for many topics. Thought I'd invest in some to see how it all works and the hype around it!

I found information about bitcoin on overclocking forum over a year ago.
I read about bitcoins for 6-8 months and tracked bitcoin price/news all the time. I didn't like gpu mining at all, but now I'd like to try new solutions :)

Learned about it in the news a few months ago. I wish I heard about it earlier :(

About 3 years back, from a friend (who wasn't really interested himself though).
Bought several items for 20-30 BTC, when they were worth $5-15 each. You can imagine how much that sucks, seeing the price now :p

I was mowing the lawn a couple years ago listening to this:

Then started looking into it, seems like a beta run for switching the population over to a cashless society. Still needs work on the banking/financial side of things from what I can tell.

So I started digging in and learning about it, mostly a hobby for me since I like to tinker with hardware and am a developer.

I found out about it from a couple security forums I read.  Being a techy geek it sounded like fun to build a machine to mine coins.  So got into it because of that.  Got a nice 14 Ghps machine so far.

When my friend decided to buy alternative goods with bitcoins, I recognized the appeal of the currency.

My introduction to bitcoins came through a friend in my freshman engineering course at college. He was sitting next to me in class and I noticed that he was running a computer program on his computer that was taking almost all his CPU. A few questions later, and I had learned a ton about bitcoin mining, currency, trading, and applicability. Now I am here making my first post as a newbie! Thanks buddy! And thanks to the original poster for putting up a forum post that I could easily respond to.  ;)

I searched it into google

online poker. i got screwed by FTP and all the rinky-dink US-facing sites were super rinky-dink and couldnt get you your money for 2-3 months.... so i went with a rinky-dink btc poker site and never looked back....

I first heard about it on a forum I frequent as a way to cover the cost of electricity for doing Folding@Home. That was in May '11. Never looked back.

Giveways, PTC, websites that give you btc hour a hour :)

At the end of year 2012 I got in touch with bitcoin on a IT-congress. Since that congress I'm reading press-releases on the media with some interest.

Hacker News posts back around 2010. Only downloaded the client. Kept in way in the back of mind until price rose above $200 first time and it started coming up in the news. Oh, I know that thing.

I could not get a affordable price, waiting for it to drop below $300 to buy 5-10 BTC

A friend told me about it at work first. And I read some papers on the newspapers.

I get into Bitcoins when the news was spreading high ROI on mining....

I was just searching what to do with spare hardware laying around lol.

After hearing about the high bitcoin prices I did look futher in bitcoin. Sindsthen I orderd mine one miner. Now it is pure hobby.

I heard about it through a friend, decided to download the Bitcoin-Qt wallet, but downloading the BlockChain took me to long, so I removed everything. Worse decision ever.

I came back to BitCoin because of a post on FunnyJunk. It was about BitVegas giving away Bitcoins, so I downloaded Electrum, collected me some coins and I have been active ever since.

Long story short, since i must have timed out after telling a long epic story of my start with Bitcoins, back in March 2011 my friend introduced bitcoins to me because of my constant ranting since 2008 of ending the Fed and the central banking system yada yada, pro Ron Paul and libertarian rants blah blah.  :P

So it took me all of 5 minutes to understand it and it seemed too good to be true. Went back and forth about mining and buying some @$2-20/btc  :-\ til June 2011 Mt Gox got hacked and scared us off.   ???

Fast forward to Oct 2nd 2013... Silk Road bust... bitcoin as payment... $1.3 billion usd of transactions... members anonymous... founders bitcoins unable to touch by FBI... btc worth $121/btc...   :o

Called everybody and their mothers mother, which i guess would be their grandmother... anyway, and told them to buy. I was called a crazy, nothing new to a pro Ron Paul/Libertarian end the FED crazy, so ended up winning a Casascius silver 10btc coin fully loaded on Oct 8th!  ;D Also have a couple other Casascius bitcoins, a 2011 ver 2 1btc and a 2013 0.5 btc.

Bitcoin is like digital gold, digital cash, and a revolution all in one.  :D

I was in a forum looking for a good graphic card for gaming and people were talking about how good the GPU is for mining...

I found it from Twitter. Think I'm still not late and within 1 week I start trading and invested in hosted mining. Now I have few BTC and daily income.   

About a year ago a friend told me. First bought this spring.

I vaguely remember reading about it online a few months ago. The rest is history  :P

I was one of the original subscribers to Zerohedge back on Seeking Alpha in like 2006.  I have read most Zerohedge posts since then.  It was first mentioned on Zerohedge maybe two years ago.  Didn't get around to buying some until after the implosion this spring.

was on a danish forum in 2011, asking about bitcoin i looked into it, and me and my friend was super stoaked, we wanted to make a miner for about 7000kr, but we had np place to host it. parrents did not want it turned on 24/7. and said 7000Kr was to risky.
