There are a lot of vendors where you can buy these digital cards and these actually hold value in the real-life, because they have a market outside of app where they are trading for money. But these platforms are all centralized, hence giving them the power to shut the whole thing down one day. So, you can lose those digital assets quickly. With decentralized blockchain platforms this would be nearly impossible, because you would actually OWN the digital asset in form of lets say smart contracts. This digital asset would then hold some value, but only if there would be a market with demand for it.
