Title: Request for a New Forum board "SCAM ALERT"
Post by: ankurguta87 on April 19, 2018, 06:10:08 AM
Dear community,

I have a proposal that we should have a SCAM ALERT forum where members can report different scams they are facing in crypto world.
I believe it will be very helpful for newbie as well.

I keep posting different scam on this forum time to time but they become invisible due to mass thread posting. So it will be good to keep a separate record of all scams at one place.
Please share your input...

We already have the Scam Accusations Board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0) where you should post those scam alerts.
It's under Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Trading Discussion > Scam Accusations, and I'm sure that your post wont easily get "invisible" even after a week 'coz there aren't any Megathreads in that board.

How's that  thread being moderated? What are the basis of scam accusations Someone might drag anyone down by posting him there. If there are evidences then how will the moderator know if it's legit

Anyone making a scam accusation needs to use the format described in the sticky thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.0 and include the relevant evidence.

Then the accused and anyone else interested can reply and challenge that evidence. It is down to anyone reading to then come to their own decision as to the validity of the claim. It is not the moderator's job to censor.

Sadly literally any DT member/s can tag the account if the accuser has convincing evidence towards the accused. And I don't think someone can be dragged down in something they haven't not done because the accuser needs sufficient and convincing evidence before even any member believe on what they are saying. And if someone gets tagged wrongly they will have the chance to defend themselves and getting the red tag off is possible as even though trust is not moderated DT members are fair to the system.

DT is a completely different subject to the OP of this thread. The trust system is indeed unmoderated and most people are unaware that they can customise their own trust network. Use the ~ character in front of any DT member whose judgement you disagree with and you will not see their ratings by default anymore.

That has no bearing on whether or not the Scam Accusations board should be censored.

This form was made for those who suffered from scammers. Sometimes you don't need to be scammed by someome if you see an obvious scam or made a small research outside the forum. Unfortunately people don't pay much attention on that kind of things. I've made a thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3099844.msg32017005#msg32017005) there some time ago but my call was not heared by anyone (even after  I made some PMs).
I would suggest to add another form for situation when the one who make an accusation was not scammed.

I think that fits on the Reputation board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=129.0

Make a thread there and present the evidence you have that someone is behaving in a shady manner.

Seems like we are done with finding answer for your query and it should be satisfactory. In that case, can I request you to lock the topic  :D
