since there all linked to btc, even if btc flies in usd value, these coins do too so you really dont miss out USD wise by not owning btc directly if USD is your goal

Not gonna post a list of 5 coins, but will give you an honest advise.If you are looking fir long term hold, then check out IOST, its a token specially good for long term investments(right now).This token has a good dev team and a strong investment hand.

I believe that it is worth paying attention to the new blockchain, they are still greatly underestimated. For example, such as Fusion (FSN). I also like Cardano, NEO, EOS, ICX. Soon will come Seele and I will also invest in it, for these projects the future!

NEO and EOS are really coins that deserve attention! In the last few days we have seen how EOS quickly grew. I would also recommend investing in ETH. I do have invested in a lot many other alt coins and most of them are like a very long term hold, but again, I keep on checking the market conditions and trade accordingly. Day Trading is not my cup of tea, so the basic rules I use is to Buy during Dips and chill till my coins go high for atleast 40% or above.

My portfolio has a lot of coins. Very good profit brought Coss. Now I bet on STRATIS and SONM. And ETH.

I'd go with Neo, Genesis Vision, Ark and a little bit Waves on long run. Note that I am not not that familiar with most of these coins.

yes but this type of portfolio dont give incredible in Bitcoin, better to have smaller marketcap coin on a portfolio too.

I think the future of these coins is very good

I think that altcoins like Ethereum, ripple, Neo, EOS, ADA, OMG and Stratis can give you good profit in the long run. Personally, I'd think about these Altcoins.

I am New at this "game". So i read a lot off threads at Bitcointalk. I noticed that members that are experienced. Hero members legendary and so on, are the ones mentioning zilliqa. So i used their brains and already made some profit. And it looks like this is only the beginning for zilliqa.

My top 5 in order are:

1) IOTA
2) NEO
3) EOS
4) Tron
5) IOST

I like Iota the best because it uses a DAG that they call the Tangle rather than a blockchain. This allows it to have no miners, no fees, and unlimited scalability.

I believe the price is currently low because of their wallet which has received a lot of criticism and because they aren’t decentralized yet. Once these issues progress to the next level, I expect a big price increase.

Because Bitcoin is experiencing a downward defeat of approximately 65% this year, after ending January at $ 10,284.00, with the largest monthly percentage decline in three years, it has caused me and many to back off a little bitcoin, opting to focus on some of the lesser-known alternative digital currencies that potentially can offer better returns than their oldest and most popular cousin such as Ethereum, Dash, Ripple, Iota, RaiBlocks.

NEO may be a good option to invest in. But I have serious doubt regarding the other two. Ripple is a much discredited currency. I would never invest in it. Litecoin is one of the first altcoins and I am surprised that it is still surviving But I have doubts regarding the future potential of LTC.

I think the five most promising currencies are ETH, NEO, EOS, ACT, and HT. I think this is the best five currencies in the market right now. I invested in them and I think they can bring great benefits to me.

I invested in Ambit Mining ICO - it seems to be very promising, every detail of the project is foreseen by the team, so let's see how it will work.

Those 5 are good but I prefer a lower cost per coin that has the potential to see some huge gains. For 2018 I'd suggest BERRY by http://rentberry.com If you don’t know Rentberry they’re a long term rental platform which offers tenants the opportunity to bid on a listing, which could drive the price up or down depending on the location. Within the online platform they allow landlords to receive tenant applications and process a lease as well! Which is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Their site seems very user-friendly, I just wish they had a mobile App for my phone but I read online that this is in the works and should be available soon. The utility use of this coin makes it very valuable and helps expand on its potential.

I don't buy of this promising coins. I only know it when it was high price and i totally regret i didn't invest and why i don't know this promising coins before, im in more in shitcoins that made me lose my money.

There are alot of new coin now that listed in the market, and i think some of them has potential to give 10 times or 100 times in less than 1 years. Now i look in to Powercoin, SNTR, Vites, Loki . These all coins still has low marketcap and possible to going up multiple times if listed in more bigger exchange.

Very much that is very promising Altcoin now, Maybe you are confused with many promising altcoin that makes you also confused to invest where. I suggest you invest better in Arcona project, than you invest in altcoin very much and it makes you confused. Arcona is incredible, therefore I suggest to beinvetasi in it.

I've invested in the remme platform and it looks very good platform in my opinion. It will also better to invest in the major project but remember if you need a huge gain from your investment and you should try to search low cap coin with promising platform. Remme is one of them. The marketcap is only 10 million dollars and it's underrated project.

yes, it can be a good reference for you. but I have another different speculation. in a downturn situation that happened in this year, I am more inclined to keep monitoring for bitcoin and ethereum. I think both crypto is very worthy to be a top priority in purchasing.

Everyone keeps picking coins with really high market caps. Those are coins that have all made their big run ups and about the most you can realisticaly hope for is a double this year. If you want coins that have yet to make their run and have the potential to increase by multiples of their current value take a look at PROOF, OPEN, ICX, EFX and MFC

My top five Altcoins I poured my investments into are Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, SXDT and the last but not the least an under valued coin no other than Dogecoin. A lot of investors might underestimate Doge but I earn profit from it way back 2017. This year I have invested in many coins that I think are the most promising. Top 5 of them: Ethereum, NEO, Request Network, Wanchain, Stellar. I keep them on my wallet for a long period, a small % of profit is not considered justified for sale.

I prefer to invest in the top 15 projects, as it seems to me a more reliable way. This spring I purchased some BTC, NEO, ETH, ADA, TRX, BCH. These coins seem to be the most interesting. Now I will hold them for six months or a year.

It is strange to see Spotcoin in this list. I think that this token is superfluous in this series. How you can compare not finished ICO with Ethereum or NEO? I'm sure that Spotcoin will not have cap over than 10 mln $.

Community is one of the best and keeps winning competitions to get on exchanges.

PURK is a cool project that allows content owners to monetize their content. They have already delivered on their PURK button which will allow any website to add it to receive tips. This essentially can help websites from having to use lots of ads to make money.

MAG with a Super active dev team that just recently released their merchant network. This is also a Masternode coin which means you can pick up a couple masternodes for under 1k.

XBP is a newer coin which allows users to be on sports events as well as receive sports predictions. They have a sports bet aggregator that allows for them to scrape betting sites and find you the best odds.

I used to hold multiple coins, but after re-analyzing the market, I decided to go all in with privacy cryptos. I speculate that regulations will be heavily enforced, which will cause the public to run away towards privacy cryptos and decentralized exchanges. Be careful, as not all privacy coins provide anonymity, look for those projects that integrate Tor into the wallet for anonymity. I sold all my coins to buy ONION... I'm either really stupid, or really smart... only time will tell.

I am not going to list my top investments here as so so many of you have been mentioning that over and over again. I will only put here the ones that I have actual investments and been holding them ever since. Likecoin, Boat, Minereum, Ethlend, and Tokyocoin. A good choice. But I prefer such altcoins for investment: Ethereum, Litecoin, Neo, Ripple and Dash. I have already invested some money in these cryptocurrencies. I think they will bring me a good profit. Now there are a lot of new cryptocurrency, but I do not advise investing in them. It is better to choose checked altcoins.

According to me the 5 best Altcoins to consider because of their wonderful performances are:
1.   Ethereum : provides the best way to make smart contracts. Created a wonderful use of cryptocurrencies for binding people across the world into agreements which are enforceable on them by the power of technology.

The altcoin I have invested so far is NEO. because the coin NEO very significant price movement and the enthusiasts were very high. and I get a lot of benefits from the investment coin NEO.

For myself, I chose the first five altcoins with maximum capitalization. In my opinion, this is a safe choice.

It is too hard to choose only five altcoins. I think there will be EOS, ETH, Monero, Ripple and Waves. But check Cardano and NEO as well, they are worth to be seen.

The present market turn out is a bit discouraging for serious investment but if we look beyond the fall with hope of rising tomorrow, oax, nexty coin, and bax is OK . I have personally invested in nexty and bax but the bax has fallen to about 75% low. The nexty is growing on a daily basis and oax is going to be great from observation.

By look history of price all  coins in the top 50 coin, the price of all that coin was all the times high on january and been going up 10 to 20 times since 2017. I invested NEO ADA XLM like you. In addition, I invested these coins TRON and DASH but now, I dont hold these altcoins anymore in bear season. I fronted to top ranked coins its a safer choice I guess. You should front to top 10 ranked coins.

In fact I have invested in many coins, and all of them are decreasing in prices incurring me a big loss. I was introduced to cryptocurrency some two and a half years ago, and I have held the coins ever since. I have some coins like ripple, EOS, cardano, stellar, tron, verge, cindicator, Medical Token Currency, Me token. I believe these coins will reach the moon in the coming years.

In your list, I found Dragon coin to be one of the worst coins. I don't know how they managed to call over $ 400 million in a short period of time, but its current value is too low compared to the ICO price proving to be a bad project.

Most of the promising coins I have seen and invested in are mostly among the to 10, except XYO and GMB that are yet to climb up the market.

It is always good to buy when the price is low and sell when high, then continue with the process.
