Title: btc-e transaction taking long time
Post by: VTDSA on November 17, 2013, 02:49:40 AM
I did a USD to BTC trade on btc-e.com about 12 hours ago and currently the order is only 19.7% filled. When can I expect it to be completely filled? And why does it take so long? Thanks.

its bases on your buying price if its lower than the current ask price it will not fill the order.

Okay... so if the price of bitcoin keeps going up, there's no way I can do the transaction, considering that it doesn't happen instantaneously, or what? Should I just keep cancelling and re-trying the transaction until it goes through?

if the price comes down, your bid will fill (if your bid is high enough that is). if you want your bitcoins right this instant, then yes, you would cancel your order and make a market buy (buy from the lowest seller). or you could place a higher bid.

I think both of you dont understand what a bid is. Its not like you can just think of a price and someone will accept it.
If you ordered 250 NMC for 0.01 BTC you will probably not find someone willing to sell that low anymore.

So you are saying i will never get my coins i orderd when the price was low. so i should cansel the order? and try to buy again for much higher price its weird because they confirm my order.

sometime I'm trying to by btc and the order stop at half. Then I just wait for 30 minutes and it become complete. It's normal behavior

I also wonder how this works like the OP.  I'm confused by the whole process mostly because I've never even attempted to try it before.  That will change very soon and any information that will make the process easier is appreciated.   ;)

It totally depends on what people are buying at. Most likely that you sold them and then the price went up.
