Title: beginner questions -- wallet
Post by: betterbittabitcoin on April 22, 2018, 03:45:54 PM
Hi

I'm a service provider and I'm going to quote a potential client a bitcoin price. I need a wallet so I can receive if he accepts my quote.

I don't know which wallet I should get. I'll want to receive the money, transfer/exchange some to my Euro bank account, and keep the remainder in bitcoin. Can you recommend a suitable wallet?

I might also want to get a prepay card that I can pay for things in euro (like Visa/Mastercard), and top that up from a bitcoin wallet -- can i do that?

You can use the wallet of Blockchain, you can download it and create it by https://www.[Suspicious link removed]/. By this you won´t have issues with amounts since is decentralized.

To transfer it to your bank you can use https://www.skrill.com/es/. It accepts and transfer to the most of banks in the world.

But take in account this, to send Bitcoins to Skrill you should get a specific wallet, you can use the Bitpay wallet, because they work different, not with the normal wallet addresses.

I hope this message be helpful for you. :)

Hi Penguincomel, due to decentralization I personally use BitPay and Blockchain wallets. :)

blockchain.info (http://blockchain.info)
https://www.coinbase.com/ (https://www.coinbase.com/)
Here are two online wallets for bitcoin storage, which are rated by the crypto community as safe and quality to store and save your bitcoin.
Or you should use a hardware wallet if you can, to ensure your bitcoin is the best.
Trezor and KeepKey

blockchain wallet, maybe, but not coinbase--that's not a wallet.

OP, check out the list  LFC_Bitcoin posted for you. Something tells me you're not in a position to go the hardware wallet route and instead need something a little more convenient. Try something like jaxx on a desktop or breadwallet, greenaddress on your phone.

Blockchain.info is the best bitcoin online storage service for me. I have used them recently because I have verified the activity and seen positive reviews from the community. They have developed mobile applications. It's really easy to track and manage bitcoins. Pay attention to it as an experience before transferring your bitcoin to it.

Not yet. According to my coinbase service is conceptualized for the purpose of storing bitcoin (wallet) online. In other words, it does not have much difference, or similar wallet from the transaction page. It still has the ability to store bitcoin.

The best way to save your coins is with a hardware wallet, ledger, trezor, etc... What we use call cold-storage. ;)

I am also in search of such a wallet. everything was fine with the previous wallet, but there were huge fees. now I'm looking for a new one, but I don't know if anyone has REALLY small fees?

I advice you to make a bitcoin wallet by that site https://www.coinbase.com because by coinbase you can buy and sell your bitcoin

I'd prefer this one. Coinbase is a great wallet to store your remaining bitcoin. Coinbase had referral program that let you earn additional bitcoin when the referred person buy bitcoin and you both would received bitcoin after the referred person bought bitcoin from coinbase.

It is a big misconception you have here.
Transaction fees are not wallet related, in fact they depend upon the miners that confirm your transactions and the number of unconfirmed transactions in the pool. So, even if you switch over to new wallet the fees might remain same. I can recommend you Electrum which allows users to adjust fees and give estimate of how longer it would take for transaction to confirm.

Btc/ Etc is the best wallet you can use.

Cold storage wallets are preferred for long term savings but as in the case of OP, he wants to convert a certain amount in fiat of the cryptocoins he would get to fiat and then store the rest in wallet.

Hi Penguincomel, due to decentralization I personally use BitPay and Blockchain wallets. :)

Blockchain is the underlying mechanism that makes the cryptocurrencies work. I believe you are referring to blockchain.info wallet.

Coinbase does not provide you with your private key and is a centralised wallet, is I would not recommend it. You can earn the referral earnings and move them to your primary wallet like desktop or hardware wallet but it is risky to use third party to control your coins !

In my opinion, you should use a desktop wallet like Electrum and use a trusted exchange to convert the require amount to convert to fiat.
