Title: Cuckoo Cycle coin?
Post by: Abiky on April 23, 2018, 05:00:41 PM
I've read the Whitepaper about the Cuckoo Cycle consensus algorithm which aims to make mining accessible to nearly any device we can think of. Smartphones, tablets, and even low-powered devices like the Raspberry Pi would be able to mine effectively a cryptocurrency which has such algorithm.

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a cryptocurrency which has Cuckoo Cycle implemented within its codebase. However, if a developer would take the effort to design a cryptocurrency with such algorithm, then I believe that it would truly be revolutionary and far more decentralized than most PoW consensus algorithms we know to date. An ICO or crowdfund could be made for such project to become a reality.

What do you think? Would it be ideal to have a Cuckoo Cycle coin? Or not?  ???

Thanks for sharing this mate. I've never thought the day would come where such algorithm would become implemented into a cryptocurrency project to help spread mining decentralization. Among the list of projects that I've checked, aeternity was on the list. This has brought up my attention since aeternity is a smart contracts platform like Ethereum. As such, I wonder why it’s rather undervalued considering its limited supply and truly unique decentralized mining algorithm.

Nevertheless, I hope that more projects would come up in the future that would embrace the Cuckoo Cycle algorithm for the true decentralization of mining within any device you could think of. With this, projects like aeternity could bring a greater level of accessibility to cryptocurrencies for people who don't have access to mining hardware. A smartphone, and any low-powered device could easily join and support the network at will without barriers. In my opinion, this could be the most ASIC resistant PoW algorithm alongside X16R.  ;)
