Title: Phishing Attack on Myetherwallet!
Post by: Ca$hmaker on April 24, 2018, 04:07:10 PM
Phishing Attack on Myetherwallet! Myetherwallet (MEW), the web’s most popular client-side ethereum wallet, has been compromised by a DNS attack. Numerous users are reporting missing funds and Mycrypto, a sister site which spun off from MEW earlier this year, has confirmed as much. The incident highlights the dangers of relying on a centralized interface, even when the funds are held by the individual, and exposes the inherent weaknesses of the Domain Name System. Be careful guys!

This is not the first time that they have some sort of their server or related stuff compromised. This is really why you should download the open source code from github and run MEW locally rather than run it via their website. Sadly some people lose money for trusting MEW, without even knowing there is any issue with them.

Website is up but it do acts shady and buggy. Trying to test out it shows me this message.

(error_33) Could not connect to the node. Refresh your page, try a different node (upper right corner), check your firewall settings. If custom node, check your configs.Could not connect to the node. Refresh your page, try a different node (top-right corner), check your firewall settings. If custom node, check your configs.

Didnt experience such error in the past.I dont know if its being already fixed by MEW team or not.Its surprising that they do already experience DNS attack once again.

Therefore, if we have a lot of Ethereum or token. We should have a Hardware Wallet for safer security. Chances are our funds will be safe from such problems.

Correct, you must choose safety rather taking the risk of putting it up on web wallet such as MEW because we can't tell and predict what will happen.

This is a good experience that no one did predicted before so we did learned from this incident especially to those who are trusting much MEW.

Hackers are everywhere so you have to choose the best way to store your ETH or tokens.

I guess everything's good and calm now with MEW.

I guess many hackers are focused on stealing profits in cryptocurrency at the moment. They will create web phishing to outwit us when logging in on our wallet. My suggestion now, when logging in MyEtherWallet always use bookmark to avoid phishing web, it's safe way according to me.

Who will always make us safe against our wallet is ourselves. It's important to keep our money, always looking for the latest information to make our wallet safe. And if I can, I think to be a hacker to keep my wallet safe, that is the best way ever  8)

I don't think that it will happen again, many accounts now in myether wallet are hacked. What do you think guys the problems? I was scared because even private key can be stolen without our knowing, hacking of accounts were also happen to my friend. Their JNT amounting $500 will vanished in their account, even they cannot exposed their private key to everyone. All I know private key is unique but it is possible to get by the intruders. Do myether wallet make a solution on this problems or still they have no comment? If you have latest news guy just share it, to be aware many users regarding this problems.

It sucks big time. But I'm use to it. With so much money in this we will see more and more of this.
I guess I will start to use the offline version.

All I know private key is unique but it is possible to get by the intruders.

they cant even crack private key with bestest software , needed quantum computer for that purpose .

however hackers wither make phishing site or change DNS route to phishing site .

so always use hardware wallet or metamask .

yes that's right, I really agree with your statement. there are so many people who have been victimized. if not wrong the total number of loses is estimated at more than 1billion$+++. and many of these people are false information but if it has felt the loss then they regret it.
