Title: If it's a statement don't use a question mark?
Post by: bitcoinminer on November 19, 2013, 03:37:49 PM
Correct.

If you are making a statement, you do not need the title to have a question mark?

Some examples:

Transactions taking a long time? <--- statement put as a question
Transactions are taking a long time <-- statement put as a statement

My crazy theory? <--- Not a question
THIS is my crazy theory <-- fixed

The Chinese warlord Lao Tzu invented bitcoin? <--- this is a question asking for clarification.  The answer is no.
DID The Chinese warlord Lao Tzu invent bitcoin? <--- This is asking a question with a hypothesis in mind.
The Chinese warlord Lao Tzu invented bitcoin <-- This is a statement of your theory

I ignored the first 15 or so topics with this kind of title until my eyes just got too angry.

The world is flat?

I almost didn't read this thread because...

If it's a statement, don't use a question mark (?).

Statements are in the form of questions? Are questions in the form of statements.

What about rhetorical questions?
What about them.

Clearly, this is a prejudice thread, for nobody, and I mean nobody has yet mentioned the exclamation point, let alone use them useless bastards? Are you not ashame.

You, guys, think long and hard about the above while I cook dinner!

Bitcoinminer?

In Bizarro World, we list all statements as questions? If you want to ask a question it should seem like you're not sure if that's what you're doing? "Um, who the fuck are you." is the correct way?

What about rhetorical questions?

Rhetorical questions you should still sound unsure of yourself?

What should we do about the exclamation point!

We'll think about it while you cook dinner?

Do you think that's a good idea;

Icanhazcheeseburger?

Yes you can?

It looks like the admins consider this offtopic?  Posting threads as questions is not offtopic though? This is strange?

My crazy theory? <--- Not a question
Actually, it is three questions:

My crazy theory? Or is it someone else's crazy theory that the minddrones implanted into my brain?
My crazy theory? Answer is almost always "Yes, your theory is crazy", except where the question is asked ironically.
My crazy theory? No, the correct term is hypothesis.

So what he really wants to know is, "Are the minddrones implanting theories or hypotheses into my brain and are they crazy?" Though when you put it like that, the question sort of answers itself.
