I don't have any coins on Bitstamp but that would suck if there was a large hack or coin stealing owner, considering it's an important exchange.

It's probably just technical issues.

Post by: antimattercrusader on November 19, 2013, 03:52:51 PM
BTW: I get the same error with BTChina.

This is getting interesting....

Update: I bet it's an issue with Insapsula

This has happened to me numerous times over the past few weeks and its simply that the site cannot handle the amount of traffic hitting it.
In all cases it has come back after a while.
It usually happens around the same time that China wakes up.
The error message is a bit frightening but I think thats a default message from Incapsula and not from Bitstamp itself.

Bitstamp works sometimes now, so it's "just" technical.

Don't worry there is some problem with site internally .. Incapsula blocking request.

#Bitstamp is currently experiencing some problems with our banking software. Thank you for your understanding.

hoping its just technical too - just transferred a bunch of coin in there last night... typical!

So lame and unprofessional, this discredits the whole idea of automated trading on Bitstamp.

This.
Successfully logged on via tor a few times over the last hour. Still spotty.
My bet is technical issue for sure.

The message I'm getting is:

"and it's gone.
Page not found

The requested url was not found on our servers."

I have a few bitcoins on there that I hadn't bothered to withdraw yet. Seeing "and it's gone" is not exactly reassuring, if their servers are having problems of a temporary variety I wish they'd just say that on their website...

Don't panic...
This is their standard error 404 page.

It looks like they are working on it now.

Title: Re: www.bitstamp.net - owner has denied your access to the site.
Post by: n-gage on November 19, 2013, 05:11:23 PM
They say "Your coins are gone"

Title: Re: www.bitstamp.net - owner has denied your access to the site.
Post by: sangaman on November 19, 2013, 05:13:36 PM
Website is back for me, I'm withdrawing my coins ASAP since I don't really plan on selling them anytime soon and I can always redeposit easily.

"And it's gone" is such a terrible default 404 message for a bitcoin exchange, I mean I didn't reasonably believe they'd lost or run with customer funds but that message isn't exactly reassuring.

If quoting South Park was their intention, that is a truly panic inducing 404 page.

Back to and it's gone.

I had to type in a CAPTCHA to log in from Incapsula and then after I typed in my OTP it died again.

I don't know anything that "and it's gone" can refer to other than south park and the phenomenon of money displayed in an account balance going up in smokes.

Page down, "banking software" problems that delay withdrawals... Well, we could expect hazek/Nejc to come by and give us an explanation on what's going on.

Especially the "banking software problems" sound like a bunch of crap. I hope we won't be Goxxxed by Stamp.

Plus, complete silence from their side for many hours. Bad PR move from an exchange managing millions of USD which belong to their customers. Either they are in deep shit and don't know what to do/say, either they just don't give a shit about their customers - both things are bad.

I wouldn't panic YET... it looks like trades are still executing every now and then, and I am able to log in briefly, but not long enough to make a trade. If Bitstamp was running off, I think the whole thing would just be gone...

If they did just f*ck us, I'll meet you in Slovenia.

It's a shame we can't trade and loosing our money. They should buy more server power.

I'm in the USA, I can finally get into bitstamp.  Am I supposed to use the
International Withdrawal for $15, or were there other options like ACH?

I have to call my bank and get the SWIFT code / IBAN or what?

No customer support phone number on bitstamp, or live support, only email tickets.    Nice.

EDIT UPDATE:

I got my SWIFT code and bank address.  Filled out the international withdraw form.
Says I need an email confirmation.

Guess what.  No email confirmation forthcoming.  Of course I checked my Spam folder.

Good game, bitstamp.  Good game.

same with me at least I managed to sell everything before it happened unfortunately I didnot manage to load in again... missed opportunity

but I hope they have strong security measurements - when people were able to hack Mtgox at times when BTC was $5 I expect it is only matter of time when some shit happen again - and this time it would be very hard to explain to thousands of people that they are very sorry and it will not happen again but as they know this is completely unregulated business.... ;D

what if IT admin from BitStamp thinks that his salary is not that big as it could be.....  ;D
or on the contrary his salary is so good so that he forget to check something or set passwords like 123456....

Please note I sent in all my documents and received a Bitstamp email confirming I was validated as such.

1 bitcoin is still worth 1 bitcoin.
You can buy and sell stuff with it.
All you need to do is find the people who will trade goods for bitcoin.
Not necessarily shotguns though.

You can trust btc exchanges the same way you can trust your banker.

It's the biggest game in the world.

what about BTC withdrawals from bitstamp, anyone?

Yesterday evening, small amount, took 4 hours to reach my wallet but it's there.

Apart from that, commission rate also suddenly back to 0.5% and 30 day USD volume = 0 for me.

And of course, SEPA transfer from last Wednesday still not in my account.

Overall, pretty epic. NOT!

I'm still not receiving withdrawals emails.

I get the feeling as if Bitstamp was robbed and they sneakishly shut down withdrawals.

They have "sneakishly" shut down deposits also.
The deposit bitcoin link is still server error. Since the Ripple deposit link generates addresses/QR codes, It isn't at my end.

Just logged straight in with 2FA.

No funds deposited from my transfer on 14 November.

Fee says 0.50%, should be 0.46% for me.

Do not understand why BitStamp cannot make an announcement on Twitter or this forum if there is a problem.

Better to reassure than let people make assumptions.

I withdrew my btc yesterday no problem (once I was able to get to the withdrawal page without the site going down) and that was shortly after my earlier posts. Got the confirmation e-mail almost instantly and then the transaction was broadcast a few minutes later.

My experience with Bitstamp in the last couple of days:
  • site up and down but when up working regularly
  • when site up, withdrawal of bitcoin working
  • withdrawal of fiat NOT working due to missing confirmation mail. Apparently they are working on it
  • APIs up and down following the website
  • commission SHOWING as reset to 0.50% but correctly calculated when trading

It still doesn't look like anything major.

Your commission is not at 0.50%, it just shows that way in the account page but it is applied correctly to trades.

I normally don't use bitstamp, but I send a SEPA there last Monday. Let's see how long does it take to get into there ...

Edit: My SEPA was funded as I was writing this post. Now I already bought the BTC :)

Received confirmation email an hour or two ago that funds were deposited which I sent on 14 November.

Logged-in, no problem, bought BTC, transferred BTC to my wallet.  Bought @ US$535.00, now showing US$599.00.

Account shows 0.05% but the correct fee has been applied.

All over and done with in minutes.

OK, great, I'm making a third withdrawal attempt.

Keep in mind i just validated my docs 2 weeks ago and this is my first time to actually
use Bitstamp.  So as a new customer, I'm ultra pissed.  This time the confirmation of
withdraw email came instantly, unlike last time.

I'd appreciate an email from Bitstamp telling me withdraws are enabled again, but no,
I had to come to this thread and find that out.  Horrible customer service.  The only
reason I signed up to Bitstamp was because they always seemed to have higher prices
than CampBX, they seemed to have their shit together unlike MtGox.  Now I'm not so sure.

I'd participate in the bitcoin economy more if I could but I need hard cash sometimes.

Dear Bitstamp clients,

We are pleased to inform you that Bitstamp has successfully resolved both (1) the networking issues that made our site unavailable and (2) our issues with our banking software.

Bitstamp has caught up with all pending deposits and withdrawals. Only standard banking processing should remain in delivering your transfers. We kindly ask our customers with pending transfers to remain patient and refrain from submitting additional support tickets on the matter to avoid any unnecessary delays.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,

If they were processing withdrawals fast there wouldn't be tickets. Don't like them asking for patience. I asked for a withdrawal today, lets see how long it takes - I will report back.

yes, but now (for last 2 days) commission rate is 0.5%, I think that for everybody and doesn't matter about trading volume.

hope that bitstamp will compansate this.. (I should pay 0.2 and paying 0.5, this is 250% difference)

edit: I just check it again, they are calculator correctly. uff

Did you forget to report back, or is it really taking them four days and counting to confirm your withdrawal request?

...or were you going to post back here when the funds reach your bank account?

I requested two withdrawals on the same day:

- one was confirmed after a few hours, but the money still didn't hit my account
- the other was quite big, and it seems it triggered some sort of alarm as they came back to me with a lot of questions as a KYC (know your customer) procedure. I duly answered everything, and they confirmed the withdrawal shortly after. This happened today, so no money in my account for this withdrawal neither.

Yes, it worked fine for me till 10hours ago - question is what can i do now?!
I think my computer is very clean and i didn not do anything wrong.
Now this gets me worried of course, not being able to go into the website that has all my life-savings.

Bitstamp support is only inside - can someone message me their support-email please?
Anyone had such a thing - and how did it turn out and what did you do besides wait?

Not very wise of you to place so much trust in any single exchange (or person).

On how many exchanges are you?

I managed to get into the site with a program that tricks site into believing i am from another ip. And everything is still there and i asked the support there and they said they will look into that.

followup: bitstamp fixed it. Reason for banning was me making more than 1 request per second to the server. I don't know how i should have done that. Perhaps the mobile app that i installed, but it never worked and i had a mobile app also before.

My point is entrusting anyone with one's own life savings is not the most prudent decision one can make (to put it mildly).
