Don't buy mining equipment for profit. Title: Re: Need help Post by: DrG on November 20, 2013, 11:22:26 AM If you are technically challenged then mining may not be the most rewarding course for you. If you to test the waters
1) buy 1 off of Amazon 2) Download and Install CGMiner https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.0) 3) Make an account on a reliable pool 4) Use CGMiner to mine on the pool with shiny new toy You will probably not make a profit, but you'll understand the basics of mining, how pools work, share submission, difficulty, etc If you want to throw a larger amount of money then go cloud hashing: CEX.IO (https://cex.io/r/0/DrG/0/) Once you learn the fundamentals then consider buying from KNC, BitFury, CoinTerra or whatever ASIC manufacturer is viable. As it stands right now buying hardware is a higher risk gamble than just buying BTC Title: Re: Need help Post by: Sephera on November 20, 2013, 01:26:44 PM Can someone help me set up a miner using graphics card I have a : radeon graphics 2 GB on my laptop.
Title: Re: Need help Post by: DrG on November 20, 2013, 08:15:17 PM Can someone help me set up a miner using graphics card I have a : radeon graphics 2 GB on my laptop. Do not mine on a laptop. It will make about $0.03 and when it dies in a month that won't even cover the shipping costs for RMA. Either build a dedicated desktop GPU Miner or buy an ASIC device. You can try mining with http://guiminer.org/. However, I would not recommend this since it probably costs more in electricity than it provides and might also shorten the life time of your laptop. If you are going to mine on your computer, you should do it just to try it out and for fun. Title: Re: Need help Post by: mvidetto on November 20, 2013, 09:34:30 PM You shouldn't even waste your time in mining, it's a fool's game atm.
Title: Re: Need help Post by: smithytzu on November 20, 2013, 09:54:00 PM I think as the others have said, if you're technically challenged you should probably either just use guiminer if you just want to mine for fun, or buy BTC.
Buying BTC in most cases will provide better returns and can be done by almost anyone. I've designed and developed embedded linux systems (mostly AVR32) before and it took me a little bit of time to get my head around the bitcoin concept. I think it's fair to say at this stage of the game with BTC, mining is becoming more and more specialized. If you're really desperate to get into mining try to get hold of a ButterFly Labs Single 60GH, there's a lot of instructions on Google as to how to set it up and being mining. Good Luck!
