Title: Mastercoin or Bitcoin?
Post by: jonnyboyo on November 20, 2013, 03:38:21 PM
Greetings from a newbie (U.K.), although with the help of a friend (U.S.) I do have a handful of Mastercoin and a handful of Bitcoin.
These coins are in my possession despite what I would have to call a conspiracy of techiness/bureaucracy which prevents those of us
with limited computer knowledge from being able to access these forums and buy/sell sites without considerable difficulty.
Anyway, that's not actually a complaint, more of a comment - I know it's consistent with the early days of any new system.
So my American friend is now of the opinion that I should increase my Mastercoin holding on the basis that the upside is more
exciting and imminent than for that of Bitcoin, although he implies that Bitcoin may be the slow and steady tortoise that wins the race.
One might be forgiven for thinking that Bitcoin is hardly slow and steady given the price fluctuations we have seen over the last few days.
My question after all this waffle is do other cryptocurrency specialists, partakers and observers agree with him?
Thanks for any thoughts, I am genuinely interested, this isn't just a newbie trying to fulfil the forum's rules  ???

Hi jonnyboyo,

I started the Mastercoin protocol, so as you can imagine, my opinion on this is completely unbiased :)

However, it is a matter of public record that I converted ALL of my BTC into MSC at the very start of the project, and haven't sold a single, bloody one of them, despite nearly 100x gains. I will have to sell sometime, but only because I'd like to work on my baby full time someday. I could do this now, but I think the current price of MSC is humorously low, and I don't like selling a house for a dollar.

So, there you have one opinion. As I said, you can trust me on this completely, as I have no bias on this issue whatsover :)

Thanks for creating MSC and thanks for your response. Despite your bias I agree with you (that MSC is extremely undervalued).
Best regards

Out of curiosity, what reasoning is there that MSC should outperform BTC as an investment? Your friend says "the upside is more exciting and imminent". Did you ask why?
