Title: RX Vega 56 - Help Me Choose
Post by: MrN1ce9uy on April 26, 2018, 10:38:53 PM
I'm looking to buy 2x RX Vega 56. (I see they are more efficient at mining than Vega 64 am I right?) But I don't know which ones are better than others, and if there is a major difference in say PowerColor Red Dragon and Sapphire PULSE.

My opinion: Hands down the best looking GPU today is the Sapphire RX Vega 56/64 Nitro+. I would LOVE to have one or two of those. But they seem to cost $999 right now and that just doesn't seem to be a smart buy.

So looking at other cheaper options including PowerColor Red Dragon, Red Devil, Sapphire PULSE, and if it's worth it to wait on the Nitro+.

Would it be worth it to go with the PULSE over the Red Dragon?

Any first hand experience or well read reviews would be appreciated.

As I know sapphire nitro+ rx580 was best GPU for mining in rx580 series. So I think (not sure) I'll vote for Nitro+ RX vega 56 here.
In any way I would suggest you to buy new bitmain's ethereum miner, you can get 200 hashrate with almost the same price.
And oh, as I know difference between those models is hashrate (some of them has lower), cooling and on overclock, some gets more hash rate and works well.
Wait for others responses too.

Bitmain's ETH miner is overpriced right now and doesn't ship for 2-3 months. THat's just not worth it to me.

I'm looking to mine CryptoNightV7 with the RX Vega.

I hear you until we stop giving these bastards our money nothing will change they'll still keep taking your money and using it to mine with your new miner for months they'll still keep tracking your miner and keep trying to over take the hashrate power on other coins and ask yourself this why do you even have to prepay months  in advance they made how much money last year but still want your money months in advance screw them

I'm still picking up Vegas here and there.

I look for used reference cards. Always a risk buying used but they're cheaper and have a substantially better chance of having good samsung memory vs hynix. As far as I know all v64 reference cards have the good stuff. I believe most if not all v56 also have the better memory.

Another reason I prefer reference cards is because blower style cards work better in my 4u cases. Got to fill my racks.

I just snagged 2x Vega 64 Nitro+ on Newegg for $789 ea, was afraid they'd go away like I've been seeing them do the past week or so. I haven't paid for them yet, still want to make sure it's what I want. I really like these and will likely put them in my main gaming system to play with, but of course want them mining too.

Why does WhatToMine show Vega 56 making more than Vega 64? Power conumption? Can I flash v56 bios and have equal to v56 efficiency?

Is this a reference card that would have Samsung? https://www.ebay.com/itm/SAPPHIRE-Radeon-RX-VEGA-64-8GB-PCI-CrossFireX-ATX-Graphics-Video-Card/332631011259?hash=item4d725a6fbb:g:c-oAAOSweI9a32sK

I remember the reference cards having the R logo in the corner that lit up. Or is that the special/limited edition?

Cheapest I see now is the PowerColor ReD Dragon Vega 56 for $629 ea. I've never liked the PowerColor brand, never owned any. But they look sort of beefy with 3x fans and even a dual-bios switch I think. Any input?

Correct, Vega56 makes more than a Vega64 because it cosumes less power. You can flash a Vega56 with a Vega64 bios to improve it's hashrate. Doing it the otherway would be pointless because you would only end up with less hashing power despite pulling the same power consumption.

As far as i know reference cards are more likely to be samsunng or hynix. What i'm sure of is that all originial MSI vega56 reference editions (NOT airboost) are samsung.

That's probably a good price point seeing as these cost $900++ a few months ago.

I bought one of these Powercolor vega56s and i noticed that when mining XMR they mine at higher temps compared to MSI. PowerColor was doing 70-75 while the MSIs were doing 65-70 degrees. Other than higher temps, it mined at around the same hashrate as MSIs.

Binance is an up and coming cryptocurrency alternate with a focus on[https://www.crypto-coin-x.com/cryptocurrency-exchanges/binance/505] binance exchange review[/url] for and promoting. The platform has started to benefit reputation in the blockchain network thanks to its top notch coin services and insanely low buying and selling expenses.

Despite the fact that the organization became launched only some months ago (through ico), the change is already being promoted as a high-quality opportunity to bittrex.

Yeah noticed that too. Also (might just be me) but I've found the 64's more stable overall. Hotter, but more stable slightly underclocked. 56 you have to really thrash to get to same hashrate.
