Title: Do I have to wait for the synch to finish? Post by: PA992 on November 20, 2013, 06:57:48 PM Do I have to wait for the synch to finish before I can begin trading?
Also, can anyone recommend a trading website for anyone living in the United States? I've already found out that the options for purchasing Bitcoin on a few websites are not available in the U.S. and I would hate to run into similar trouble when I have to trade in my Bitcoins for cash. Btc-e.com is a great website for trading, but you can't buy bitcoins there from USD from the US. Title: Re: Do I have to wait for the synch to finish? Post by: PA992 on November 20, 2013, 08:43:39 PM Both.
(I already bought some bitcoins.) Title: Re: Do I have to wait for the synch to finish? Post by: DannyHamilton on November 20, 2013, 11:44:31 PM If you are trading, then there isn't much need for a wallet on your computer.
What are you planning on using that wallet for? Title: Re: Do I have to wait for the synch to finish? Post by: PA992 on November 21, 2013, 05:07:42 AM I plan to hold onto some as well as trade.
What's an exchange that offers low fee, low minimum withdrawals for U.S. customers? Title: Re: Do I have to wait for the synch to finish? I wouldn't keep more than a coin or 2 on their server for an extended period of time. It works more like a bank rather than an exchange. Once you buys coins there you can move them to a popular exchange like BTC-e

If you want send your coins from Bitcoin-qt, wait for sync to finish. It only takes time downloading whole blockchain once Title: Re: Do I have to wait for the synch to finish? They are terrible, speedwise. Their support is non-existent, and it took over 7 days to clear my transaction even though I used a direct bank transfer. In the end, I'm glad I used them because the transaction cleared, and at the time volatility was very low. I'd probably never use them in the current situation as they can always backout of a transaction if it suits them (ie hurts you).

The coins however will not be visible until the synch is over. Title: Re: Do I have to wait for the synch to finish? Post by: Kiki112 on November 21, 2013, 09:57:39 AM you can trade right away but you won't see that you received a payment until the sync is over
