Title: Bitcointalk Server Location
Post by: Vod on April 27, 2018, 02:28:37 AM
Hey, does anyone know where the physical bitcointalk.org web servers are located?  I'd like to set up an AWS server as close as possible to them.

Thanks!

Considering they have to abide by US law, I'm guessing the USA (not sure what state).

It's more the location of cloudflare's data center your interested in as all their traffic gets sent there first and then redirected.

Is that true even when Clouflare is not activated?

I thought cloudflare was always activated here. Theymos just changes the security of that cloudflare service. Traffic will probably still go through the cloudflare service's data centre before it reaches here. I.E the checking your browser screen probably only cones when there's a certain number of pings per second.

Cloudflare are a portal to the server. They're like a vpn but server-side.

However @vod, this is the information you need - somewhere near Arizona US but I'm not sure it breaks down that far on your ec2 server.

Can you see the delete button to the upper right of your post? use that.

No. I just didn't realise it was in archival, you can only edit or quote posts.
